He thanks the fan for the question that lets him talk about something that is obviously on his mind, and ours. It all worked out. Rest in peace Kevin. You are the forever Batman voice in my head.
I didn't even know we lost Kevin Conroy. That glorious man was the definitive voice of Batman for me, the one I judged all other performances against, much like Mark Hamill's Joker. Given that the man defined one of the best known superheroes for decades, I'd say he's earned a statue.
A nice one somewhere in New York near Juliard, Batman Standing in TAS Style with Kevin smiling next to him.. done up in Bronze for all time... Can.. can we make this happen? Can we petition DC on this...?
He really was _the_ definitive Batman. I had a dream to meet him, I actually sound a lot like him and I've been practicing my Batman impression (I can do Hamill's Joker as well). I didn't want an autograph or a picture, I really didn't want anything from him but to do the impressions for him. When I was a kid I didn't have a lot of friends, but I had the characters I'd watch on the afternoon tv block. I had heroic archetypes, modeling what it was like to pursue something righteous even as they suffered. They were brave, they helped me to be brave when I felt like I couldn't approach life as myself. Kevin Conroy's Batman was one of those heroic archetypes. I'm so sad, this man was such an intimate part of my life. I've been practicing that Batman impression for literal decades. I can quote his speech when he quit the Justice League word for word. What do I even do with all of this now? What is a gift even worth if you miss your chance to give it??? I wish I had the opportunity to show him how much he helped me. First Stan Lee, now Kevin. My heroes are dying.
What do you do with it? You use it, to be kind and to entertain and to inform whenever you can. Do the voice at cons, do it for schoolchildren reading books, find a place to use it and that would be the best gift you can give now. In memory of Kevin.
@@TheMsLourdes Yeah I just...I don't want anyone to think I'm doing it for attention. If I had been able to do it for him, it would have been pure. He would have understood my intent. Now it'll just look like I'm trying to capitalize on his death as a fake "fan".
Seeing this, yeah, I'm in tears, Kevin Conroy was a legend, he was and forever will be our Batman, and we'll all never be the same without him. May Valhalla welcome him, he was a hero to us all. The day he died, when seeing the news, I was in shock, then saddened beyond tears. Kevin Smith, if you ever read this, thank you for this story. This helped me finally let through the tears I was at first too devastated to let fall, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
On a brighter note, if you read my comment, I personslly am excited to see your Q&A in Boston, last time you were there that I remember, you did Hollywood Babble On, I wish I could see that one return again sometime, since it was one of the last memories I had of hanging out with my older cousin before his sudden passing in 2020, and watching Hollywood Babble On, actually has meant so much in keeping his memory alive to me, he was the closest I ever had to an older brother. I also thank you for all the laughter you had given me through both the good and the bad of my life thus far. So thank you Kevin Smith, and let Ralph Garmin know I thank him too. (I honestly doubt you'll actually read any of this because I understand, you're busy, but if you do, I am honored and again, thanks for so much.)

Whew...this brought me to tears quick. I was in my late teens when Batman: TAS aired on Fox in the early 90's and just like Kevin mentioned here, he's become the definitive voice of the Dark Knight. RIP Kevin Conroy 😢 🙏🏼 🕊
I never heard anything but amazing things about Kevin Conroy. I never had the chance to meet the man but he still had an impact on my life, and I know I'm not alone in that. RIP.
The Batman the Animated Series episode that always gets me teary-eyed is “I am the Night.” I wouldn’t be surprised if that was on Kevin Smith’s list too. RIP Batman
I'm happy for you Kevin Smith. The great Kevin Conroy was such a generous and incredible human being. My family got me some Cameos for my 40th birthday and Kevin Conroy's went for like 5 minutes, we had never met but he shared a piece of his heart in that clip while also performing as Batman. He played his part and in his part made the world a better place, God bless him.
I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple years ago at my local comic-con. I've met a lot of actors at cons, and I've always kept my cool and had no trouble talking to them. But when I met Kevin Conroy, it was the first time in my life that I've been starstruck. I struggld so hard to get out the simplest of words, but he was so patient and kind, and when I finally did manage to get to talking, we discussed Mask of the Phantasm and how it's both of our favorite Batman movie. I feel incredibly privileged to have met one of my lifelong icons, and he will forever be my Batman.
I remember when I met Kevin Conroy at the SDCC in 2017. We talked a little bit about Adam West, and I ALSO told him it was HIS voice I always heard in my head whenever I read those Batman comics, let him know that my friend said he was one of the BEST people to ever play Batman (even though he was never in front of the camera), and that I always thought he was the same age as Adam West (though he told me Adam West was already older than him when he 1st became Batman). It was also nice to see him 1 last time at the LA Comic-Con in December of 2021. Sad he died at such an early age:(
Wow man , what a great read this was , had Adam west passed away at that point and if so what did you talk about , would have loved to have met him man .
@@lasthope3237 Only talked to him about how old they were in comparison, when he 1st met Adam West, if he was a good person to work with, and also thought it was a really big coincidence that I finally met him only when the guy before him passed away that same year. I also mentioned about like him...Christopher Daniel Barnes was the guy I always heard in my head for Spider-Man (with some other characters from that show for other comics as well). Everything else I talked to him about was in my previous comment.
If at 3:47 you don’t at least feel something emotional, you are not a human being. This video really hits me. I hate that Kevin Conroy is gone, but it has been so wonderful to hear all of these stories about what a great person he was. Like Kevin Smith says, he’ll always be my Batman, and I’ll always hear that voice when I read Batman. RIP Kevin Conroy.
Something that Kevin Conroy did that I absolutely love, not only did he use different tones of voice for both Batman and Bruce Wayne, but he made Batman the real voice of the character and disguised his voice when he was Bruce Wayne. I thought that was a brilliant approach.
“I’ll hear his voice from now until the end of time. he did his job so fucking good, even when Kevin’s gone, he’ll still always be in my head every time I read fuckin’ Batman.” Beautiful
As sad as I am for his passing, isn't it great that we have this amazing archive of his work through the animated show and movies and even the arkham games. His voice was so comforting . I really loved when playing the game you would listen to his internal monolog, and his voice was reassuring and so calm despite the fact that you were literally fighting and surviving madness. He will truly be missed.
as someone who never met the man, I'm sad, so i can't imagine how his family and friends feel. So sorry for the loss of your friend Kevin, know that he is absolutely missed. My bf's brother met him at a con a few years ago and kept talking about how much I loved him and how he is my batman so he wanted a picture for me, kevin thought it was really sweet and gave him one for himself and me. I have it and I treasure it.
I was there in Dallas. I wish I was able to get vip and actually meet Kevin Smith. If anyone can inspire you to chase your dreams and become a filmmaker, it’s this guy.
Oh wow, that was touching. Thank you for sharing. So Happy I got to meet him at Salt Lake Comic Con (now FanX) in 2014. I cosplayed Joker and he literally choked me, one of the best photos I ever gotten. RIP Batman
He was so special to all of us, and we all grieve so deeply for his loss, but I can't imagine the heartbreak I would be feeling had I been one of his friends, I know these words may be hollow coming from some unknown on a youtube video but I am truly sorry for your loss, this was a beautiful tribute Kevin, thank you for always being you and sharing your emotions.
I remember this podcast. He revealed he went to Juilliard with Superman (Christopher Reeve), his roommate was Robin Williams, he had an alcoholic father which gave everyone hope who experiences that. He defined what acting is, which was incredible. It was one of the greatest episodes of podcast. His career as being the guy everyone goes back to for Batman, it's self explanatory. I grew up on him, he was my Batman. I've never cared for Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale , or Twilight. In (Episode aired September 15, 1992) • Season 1 Episode 10 "Nothing to Fear", was the episode that has stayed with me forever. Bruce runs into an old schoolmate of his father, it goes a little something like this: "Your father and I went to school together. What respect Wayne Enterprises use to command, he'd be ashamed if he saw what you turned it into, billionaire playboy! Your father would be ashamed!" And with the fear toxin from Scare Crow on him, it manipulates him into believing it. He sees himself as a failure. And he only the way he overcomes it, is the moment that stays with us forever. "I am not a failure. I am vengeance, I am the night, I am BATMAN!" -Kevin Conroy He's not really gone, whenever a comic book gets read that involves Batman/Bruce Wayne, we hear Kevin Conroy. He belongs to the ages. His work with that character (of American mythology) lives forever. You will be missed sir, always, may you rest in peace. And thank you!
That moment when the emotion hit when you mentioned having a conversation with him just two weeks ago... I felt that. It's so surreal to think one moment these amazing figures and inspirations are present and then the next, they're just gone.
Literally made me tear up to hear this story. Kevin Conroy as Batman was my childhood and first introduction to the character. I'm sad I never go to meet him but will always cherish the memories I had with him growing up as Batman.
I cosplay as The Arkham Knight Batman and everytime I put that suit on I channel my in Kevin Conroy. When the news dropped he passed away I dropped to my knees and started crying cause we not only lost a great voice actor but a AMAZING HUMAN BEING! Kevin Conroy I was fortunate enough to meet you twice and I hold those memories in my heart now and FOREVER. You are Missed by me and so many Batman fans around the world. R.I.P my hero My Batman ♡♡♡
Not many "celebritiy" deaths have stung me like this one did. To think I'll never hear Batman again leaves a really strange, sad void inside. RIP Kevin Conroy. Legend.
Thank you for this story and tribute, Kevin. Mr. Conroy will surly be missed. He was my Batman, my Bruce Wayne for sure. That was my generation of Batman.
Celebrity deaths are always sad but I am man enough to admit that this one hurts. I read the headlines and I legit yelled “No!”. I’m gonna miss him so much. Like so many others, he had such an impact on my life and I will never forget him
You know when a certain celebrity passes away and they’ve had this enormous impact on you personally, seeing the news kind of makes you feel this massive gasp and sick feeling in your stomach. Like all the air comes out of your lungs and your gut feels heavy. I’ve had this feeling multiple times before. The first thing being when Lemmy Kilmister passed away in 2015 because he appeared like a god to me with his music. Kevin Conroy with the animated series, Batman beyond, the Justice league, justice league unlimited, static shock, the Arkham series, and the animated movies. This guy was the definitive voice in my head when I even thought about the caped crusader, when I was reading the comics or reading the forum’s online, or even the watered down children’s books in the library when I was little. It was Kevin’s voice. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I shed some tears when I read the news. And you wish as a fan that you could’ve done something, but after hearing his personal opinions on death and acceptance you can’t help but respect that and just want the dead to rest. But the impact that he had on the character basically made him into the definitive Batman that we all know and love, and for me now going on 22 years old it will be hard for me to believe in someone else playing that voice without wanting it just be a continuation, like Batman should grow with the times at this point because I don’t want to hear a replacement for Kevin Conroy, I want to hear a person to Don the cape and cowl like how Batman beyond was. Rest in peace Kevin you made my childhood
Exactly what I needed to hear to process the loss. RIP, Kevin Conroy, I'll forever hear your voice echoing throughout my head while I read comics for years to come.
When Conroy passed it truly felt like the day batman died. His death hit me MUCH more than I thought it would. Almost as if I lost a friend. I'm sure that there are a lot of people out there doing a binge of his Iconic Batman series, games, and everything else. RIP Kevin Conroy you will be remembered fondly by your fans, friends, and family.
That was so beautiful, thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Kevin Conroy was a beautiful soul and he'll forever be my Batman. May he rest in peace.
I am from a Spanish-speaking country and the first time I heard Kevin's voice was quite an experience. I knew at that moment that he was my ultimate batman and since then I have never heard another version but his, be it comics, movies or games. the legacy of our batman I hope it transcends to new generations My condolences to everyone 😢

Thanks for sharing this clip. I teared up a little listening to it. I've never heard anybody say a bad word about Kevin Conroy. He was, by all accounts, the sweetest guy you could ever meet. You are so fortunate to have these great memories of him to cherish. He will always be a part of your life. Hugs.
Kevin was THE Batman we needed and wanted, even if we didn't know it. He was Vengeance, He was the Knight, He IS BATMAN. Edit: Hearing Kevin Smith choke up is just as heartbreaking as hearing Kevin Conroy passed on. I choked up too. Still does, he was MY Batman.
Kevin was my Batman. His portrayal helped in the wirst times as a kid and as an adult. It helped me grow in so many ways, so many lessons i still learn from his portrayal but the fact that his voice made the lessons hit that much harder made the imagination a little more real. Thank you comic book cukture and thank you Kevin Conroy
I think what will always elevate any story of Kevin Conroy as Batman to me was that he never seemed to outgrow it. Any other actor that took to the role always seemed to be bothered by it eventually, and granted they were always physically represented as the dark knight. He always seemed proud of the work and took it so seriously, which is probably the most Batman thing possible.
I was holding back my own tears as he was going through his time and experience with the legendary voice of Batman. I will also miss him as the one and only voice for Batman. RIP Kevin Conroy.
Thank you Kevin for sharing this with all of us. Conroy will always be my Batman as well... watching this brought me to tears but so worth it just to hear your thoughts on a great man!
Kevin Conroy is and always will be an amazing human being. The world lost a true hero. But at the same time, he will never truly be gone. His work and the joy that he brought to millions of people over the years will live on forever. I am totally with you when you said that it's his voice that you hear when you read Batman.
Damn....I started to tear up, hearing you talk about Him. He was my batman and I still read comics in his voice. There is Noone else who could match his voice ever.

Smith's words come right from my heart, too, and they're just bringing everything flooding out now. Kevin Conroy is and always will be my one true Batman. It's finally just now starting to sink in that he's gone and I can't stop crying. I wish I could have met him. I'll always be a lifelong fan, but for me ... Batman died last Thursday, too. 😭 Thank you so much, Kevin. I wish I could tell you how much you impacted my life. Or, who knows ... maybe I'll still yet get to someday. But not yet. 😊 To everyone out there who's facing any hardship that seems impossible to overcome, whether you're a Batman fan or not, just remember ... everything is impossible until someone does it. I don't know what you're going through, but you can beat it. Batman would believe in every one of us without hesitation.
TY, Kevin. I’ll cherish my memory of working directly with Kevin; wherein I wrote dialogue (alongside Marv Wolfman and the late-great, Dwayne McDuffie), cast, and directed Mr Conroy in an iconic role. An honor to watch him work. RIP, Mr Conroy.
Was at your show in Charleston just before halloween. Clerks III had me in tears, my wife asked why the f*ck I was crying. My response was I grew up with these characters. Your Q&A sessions make me feel like we've known each other personally for the past 25 years. Thank you for being the person you are.
Kevin thank you so much for sharing this with all of us, this made me cry, I miss him so damn much, I mean, he was my Batman too, him and his iconic voice resonated with me so much, I wish I could have met him so much, everyone who’s met him only has the nicest things to say about him, just like you did right here, that was such a sweet thing that he did for you to tell you that you were doing a good job, I am so glad that you had that experience with him..❤️ RIP Kevin Conroy, thank you for being our Dark Knight!🦇
I knew Kevin would have something to say about this. Glad to hear about those fond memories, but also so sad to hear they had only talked just weeks ago before he passed. When Kevin told that story it felt like Stan Lee all over again. I remember the same thing happened with Stan, talking about getting together soon only for him to pass before they could. I totally get what Kevin said about having that voice clip of Batman telling him he's doing good. I watched a tribute video for Kevin Conroy from a reviewer I'm subbed to and it included a cameo video a fan had that they sent to them of Kevin Conroy (likely some time during the pandemic) doing a little Batman voice for the recipient, but also going on to talk about his thoughts on Bruce/Batman as a character and giving a beautifully inspirational speech about togetherness and love. It made me cry, but it also helped me greatly in coping with his passing. Even in death, that man provided hope and comfort without knowing it. He was an absolute gift to this world. All my condolences to the Conroy family, and all those whose lives he touched. You'll be dearly missed, Kevin Conroy. ❤

I agree. He definitely deserves one.
Kevin Conroy will be sorely missed. He was biggest and brightest exception to the “Never meet your heroes” rule.
Thank you for sharing this video Kevin. He truly was a gift, and he will forever be the definitive Batman. It still feels like he is here, and sadly he isn’t. Thank you Kevin Conroy, for everything.
Man Kevin has me crying over here... but he is right I mean I hear Kevin Conroy voice everytime I read a Batman Comic, Book, or Batman Meme. R.I.P Mr. Conroy you will be dearly missed but not forgotten you will live on in our hearts and minds
RIP Batman
So beautifully spoken. Conroy will always be the Batman we hear forever. He still had so much left in him to give, with Mark , too. Forever my Batman.
He was best Batman ever he never be forgotten his legacy live Forever RIP Kevin Conroy you always be Batman🙏🙏🙏🙏
Icon speaks on an icon. RIP Mr. Conroy
Kevin speaks on Kevin.
Smith is a sellout. Nothing more
Thank you for being the soft spoken, soft hearted storyteller that you are, Kevin. We love you for it.

@@cnkclark yep. As all people should speak for themselves and not for others.
Rest In Peace to THE Batman for so many of us. A true legend who will live on through his work. Thank you Kevin Conroy for so many great memories!
Batman will never be the same without Kevin Conroy. Rest in peace.
For anyone who's going to play Batman in the future really has to step their A-Game. Kevin set the bar.
The same forever, in memory.
“Without Batman, crime has no punchline.”
Mark “The Joker” Hamill
He is the voice of my Batman too Kevin! Thank you for all you will do to keep his memory alive!
Kevin has a big heart and a beautiful soul. This was a touching tribute to the great and definitive Batman.
You must very proud of Kevin Conroy, Kevin. He’ll always be our Batman
Kevin Conroy will be dearly missed. He brought Batman to life for so many of us fans
Thank you for posting this. Kevin Conroy will be missed. He will always be the best Batman.
“I’ll hear his voice from now until the end of time. he did his job so fucking good, even when Kevin’s gone, he’ll still always be in my head every time I read fuckin’ Batman.”
Beautiful
I had the honor of meeting Kevin Conroy at a convention in 2016. Mr Conroy was super nice and friendly a very sweet man.
Thanks for celebrating Kevin so wonderfully ❤ he will always be Batman 😢😢
Kevin Smith always gives the most heartfelt reactions to things. This legit made me tear up smh.
So awesome to know that some of our heroes really are amazing people.
In (Episode aired September 15, 1992)
• Season 1 Episode 10
"Nothing to Fear", was the episode that has stayed with me forever. Bruce runs into an old schoolmate of his father, it goes a little something like this:
"Your father and I went to school together.
I am vengeance, I am the night, I am BATMAN!"
-Kevin Conroy
He's not really gone, whenever a comic book gets read that involves Batman/Bruce Wayne, we hear Kevin Conroy.
Like so many others, he had such an impact on my life and I will never forget him
Not gonna lie I did the same. When it popped up on my feed, I cried no. 😭😭😭😭😭😭I think I spent the entire day in tears.
He was my Batman and forever will be. Hearing your stories about him and you choking up made me cry and he will forever be Batman
Exactly what I needed to hear to process the loss. RIP, Kevin Conroy, I'll forever hear your voice echoing throughout my head while I read comics for years to come.
Rest in power. The voice of Batman always, a great spirit.
I knew at that moment that he was my ultimate batman and since then I have never heard another version but his, be it comics, movies or games. the legacy of our batman I hope it transcends to new generations
My condolences to everyone 😢
Kevin Conroy’s voice will forever live in my head rent free whenever I read a Batman book.
He will always be my Batman, thank you Kevin Conroy for everything! Legends never die!
Thank you, Kevin Smith, for the kind words, you moved me to tears! Bless you!
What a moving tribute to an amazing actor gone too soon. Since I live under a rock I didn't know the man had passed. Kevin had me tearing up toward the end. Rest in Power Batman.
Awesome! One great Kevin honoring another great Kevin!
Thanks Kevin. Your heartfelt words really moved me. And thanks to the other Kevin...gone but never forgotten.
Thanks for this. A part of my childhood is gone forever now. I agree with Kevin. Whenever I read Batman, I'll forever hear Conroy in my head. RIP TO A LEGEND.
The feeling is palpable. Ooof. This one hurts. I too will always hear Kevin Conroy’s voice in my head when I read any Batman comic.
This was a beautiful thing. Thank you Kevin.
Kevin smith does the absolute best reviews, and gives such emotional takes love it!
I've been waiting days now for this. Would love to hear him and Marc talk about it on Fatman Beyond!
I’m a 32 year old man and this really made me sad. He was a class act.
I'm surprised you held it together so well. I know what the man meant to you. Thanks for sharing your story with us.
For the love of all Conroy fans, please post his Fatman on Batman interview! It’s one of my favorites and would be a great memorial to him!
Thanks for all the great content
Dang your story telling ability is legend at this point, but this genuinely brought tears to my eyes. RIP to the GOAT Batman.
Love to you and yours, Kevin. He's my Batman too.
Thank you so much, Kevin. I wish I could tell you how much you impacted my life. Or, who knows ... maybe I'll still yet get to someday. But not yet. 😊
To everyone out there who's facing any hardship that seems impossible to overcome, whether you're a Batman fan or not, just remember ... everything is impossible until someone does it. I don't know what you're going through, but you can beat it. Batman would believe in every one of us without hesitation.
Beautiful words about The Batman to so many I grew up with Kevin Conroy as my Batman and he forever will be. Thank you for sharing this Kevin Smith
A touching tribute, Kevin. I'm sorry for your loss.
Thank you for sharing this Kevin. It was beautiful. I'm really sad about him passing. RIP to a legend
Losing Kevin will forever leave a hole in all those who experienced him.
Kevin thank you so much for sharing this with all of us, this made me cry, I miss him so damn much, I mean, he was my Batman too, him and his iconic voice resonated with me so much, I wish I could have met him so much, everyone who’s met him only has the nicest things to say about him, just like you did right here, that was such a sweet thing that he did for you to tell you that you were doing a good job, I am so glad that you had that experience with him..❤️
RIP Kevin Conroy, thank you for being our Dark Knight!🦇
Man I'm crying rn! Such beautiful words and sentiments from Kevin Smith that many people my age share. RIP Kevin Conroy (4ever our Batman)
That is a beautiful story, sir. Thank you for sharing it. You do not cry alone.

Kevin is such a standup guy he was thankful the guy asked him this question so he could get it off his chest and man I’ve been teary eyed since he died 😢
I was there at this show, thank you for being so open, honest and vulnerable. We all miss our Batman
Absolutely beautiful Kevin. I totally relate to everything you said and felt. Thanks for sharing brother.

Kevin hit the nail on the head, even now that he is gone, for as long as I’m reading comics I will always hear his voice on my head
