All Nightmare Long is insane in its original version, but of course a younger more aggressive Metallica would’ve made it even more insane. This is cool! I loved that they would play this live a lot back during the world magnetic tour!
This AI stuff is fun in that we can actually have this kind of an exploration. A lot of Magnetic stuff sounded like it could've been on one of the previous albums. One thing I always liked about Magnetic was that, for me it said: Yes, we made all the previous albums. I found elements of all the other albums on it. Case in point, Nightmare. I didn't think it'd be Justice BUT... the rhythm under the fast solo and what follows have St Anger-esque chaoticism.
I always loved how the drums on AJFA sound like they were recorded in a little box. It's like the toms, snare, and kick are all at the same level. It's weird how when you listen to the drums isolated, they have reverb because you don't even hear it in the mix.
One of the best AI voices I’ve ever heard. In my opinion AFJA production is much worse than DM, but this is very well made. Love what you did with Kirk’s solo!
Always I said that Death Magnetic is a kind of Come Back of AJFA Opend with a power song, has a kind of balad with strong end like One (Day that never comes) Instrumental song afte the final one that is short but so powerful as well. And the wite cover. By the way i love both albums
I have a video proposal for you: one thing I'd be really interested in seeong would be some modern live Metallica performances with James' voice replaced with an ai of his younger live voice, like for instance some songs from Nimes with his Seattle voice, or maybe Struggle Within live with his 92 voice, Frayed Ends live with Seattle 89. Some really cool possibilities. I know at least with Nimes and the Big 4 show there were pretty clean acapella stems available on RUclips from the surround sound mix.
great work! the only thing i will say is that the drums are not in keeping with AJFA, as on AJFA Lars was playing more offbeats, 8th note fills, offbeat cymbal crashes and altogether less ordinary dumming than on All nightmare long. there are passages where he is playing offbeats in this song, but nowhere as near as much as he was on AJFA (think Blackened as a great example). Also, i think it would have been much quicker on AJFA too. enjoyed listening muchly though!
Because it's a thrasher not a heavy one so it's better the classic way... Anyways, we didnt make the instrumental, Guitar Razze did! Thank you for watching!
i feel like if the whole song was half a step lower, including the vocals, this would be a lot more better not only in terms of accuracy but sonically too.
@@BlackHoleNoises i'm fairly certain both the songs are on the same tuning. i think outside of st anger (which we dont talk about), the only times metallica was NOT in E standard were in: the thing that should not be, sad but true, and dream no more. this cover however sounds like it's half a step higher than E standard, vocally and instrumentally. it sounds off.
@@ocean0o All Nightmare Long was recorded in Drop D and the rework converted it back to E standard, if we are not mistaken. Also, The God That Failed, the whole Load and ReLoad are in E flat. We don't actually believe it sounds wierd, but you may be right! Anyways, there are countless of programs online where you can convert the pitch and see for yourself if it's any better!
I do appreciate these takes on post AJFA Metallica, but I always come away thinking that you just can't beat '86-'89 Metallica... especially with AJFA because it's just so uncompromising and hits so hard, musically, lyrically, compositianally, even when lined up against the awesomeness that is MoP. Now if only Carcass were to cover AJFA in it's entirity🤘
@@BlackHoleNoises Well it's not so much a suggestion, moreso and observation/opinion 🙂 For me, Metallica hit their peak with MoP and AJFA, despite Cliff's passing, and the Black Album was such a massive departure from what they had put out previously that they had clearly just moved away from the previous era. Post AJFA, I'm not nearly as big on Metallica as I was because their '86-'89 sound (and by sound, I mean their songwriting) was perfect for my own specific musical taste. I loved the production and the weighty sound on the Black Album, but the songs didn't really do much for me because they just weren't complex enough relative to their previous work. And sure, they've put out some good stuff here and there, like some of the Death Magnetic tracks, and Spit out the Bone on Hardwired, but none of them resonate in the same way their early stuff did. Obviously energies change over time etc... So if there's any suggestion, it would be "I'd like to hear versions of the entire AJFA album with the production from MoP and the Black Album just to hear how it sounds... because at times AJFA sounds like the guitar work is being played through a tube" 🤘🙂
This ai cover version is awesome and super addictive! But I don't think this is a fully ai covered one. In particular, some parts of the guitar don't seem to be Kirk's and it seems like someone else played it for the cover.
I think this one would be perfect if James wasn't out of key. Sounds like original vocal pitch over an E standard cover which is close.. so close but still bothers my ears.
@@BlackHoleNoises is not bad but maybe thats what it is then the pitch correction. it stands out in the chorus to me cause the original vocals kinda followed the chord progression which got flipped upside down here. I've probably listened to the original (and the demo version) wayy too much so its all good. I love the other covers a lot and do appreciate the response 🫡
I hate how bad the "Death Magnetic" album sounds and I hate how polished their last two albums sounds too hahaha I just want an aggressive but great sound like the Black album

So post St Anger Metallica are just old songs with polished production 😢
Yes 😢
polished? dunno man, retail version of death magnetic is unlistenable. ok with Guitar hero version
I think atleast death magnetic is very underrated because of the crappy official master.. So many good riffs and songs, and videos like this prove it!
