    This craft is unique, and too see it fly is a bonus. The one problem is the limited flight height combined with limited turning radius. This could easily be corrected by changing the wings into a reverse delta. In other words, use the "W" design with the nose of the fuselage and wing tips almost even. I made a pusher L.A.S. RC with this design and found that the "W" shape was more stable at higher altitudes with a more controlled turning radius. Good luck!

      There's really zero point. The extra fuel economy you would get from flying in ground effect is negated by the higher drag from denser air at sea level, so that's a wash. The disadvantages include huge turn radius, because they have to bank to turn, and waves can be very dangerous. It generally makes more sense and is safer to just fly higher into thinner air. The only real advantage is the novelty factor, you may attract tourists that want the feeling of flying something unique very close to the water.

      it can glide up to 7 meters above water. as long as the wave don't go beyond that height, this thing still can in operational.
      this will help connecting small islands to the main islands. with 300miles range, bellow 1000km, you'll not be able to cross vast ocean. since safety first means you have to take into account of extra miles you have to take in case of detour.
      with max range of 300 miles, means for safety reason, it will only be safe for 150-200 miles distance.
      there are many locations that will need this kind of transport with 10 people capacity or 1000kg. this thing is not designed for replacing big ferries or big ships. this can be use for daily commuting between islands. just like fast train on land, this is fast ship on water.

    What happens when the wing tip clips the water at 120mph?

    • @robertoaguiar6230
      @robertoaguiar6230 5 лет назад +4

      probably nothing, actually. The mass is quite considerable and these wings are not flexible like mach speed aircraft have to be. Really they just look like two katamaran hulls, they would cause drag, but that would just end with the vessel touching the water, which I guess is ok for boats to do

    • @colormesarge
      @colormesarge 5 лет назад +4

      It would be extremely disastrous.

      doesn't happen unless you are in some serious trouble and the boat goes up 1000 feet then nosedives - like the 1000 club if you know what i mean!

    • @Kimdino1
      @Kimdino1 5 лет назад +2

      It is not likely to happen. Ekranoplans are self stabilising. As the tip gets closer to the surface more lift is generated which automatically picks it up again.

      I could see it as a high-speed mode on a catamaran design, or a hovercraft alternative if you fitted it with wheels and a drone stabilization/piloting system. Just like this, though, it's hard to think of it as being more than a tourist ferry or other tourism-oriented vehicle.

      @John Phox he means when the water is rough and you can't fly in it, it won't sail as fast nor as good as a modern day boat, and when it's flying 2 ft off of ONLY calm water it's not as fast as a modern day plane. Get it now?!?
