    Great video. I've had the same problem with my gurglers. I used 100 pound and 50 pound salt water thinning I needed that stiffness but notice won't get no hits or takes. Thanks again for the back greeting knowledge. Keep up the great work

    have you tried using a canoe man's loop knot? the tag can be used as a weed guard. Might be useful in some situations.
    It helps me keep the scum off my paddletail swimbaits.

      I'm not familiar with that knot, so I'll have to check it out.

    How do you think about the hackle width of the woolly buggers? General tutorials have the width about 2X hook gap. In your videos, they usually have 1-1.5x of hook gap width.
    Thanks in advance!

      I don't have any particular rule in mind, rather I just use the length of hackle according to how I want the fly to work. For example, my deep water lake buggers use a longer hackle than ones I use in rivers, as the lack of current in a lake requires the fly to have more movement.

    Thanks for following up on your earlier video on carp river fishing.....I know smallies will crush these ....do you also tie sculpin patterns for carp?

    • @hooked4lifeca
      @hooked4lifeca  4 года назад

      My sculpin patterns are very heavily weighted to get deep in Lake Erie, so useless for river carp. I'll have to look at tying some without any weight to see if the carp like them. I know that Erie sheephead do.
      I'm still exploring the possibilities of carp hitting streamer patterns. I've had personal experience with carp and suckers hitting streamers, but I'm still doubtful as to whether this was going to be a regular occurrence or merely a happy accident. This will take more time to sort out.
