For a stressful day I think it best to try and find a quite room, be still and pray/ read for as much time as is possible to spare. Different demands on a daily basis I know can sometimes make that seem difficult but its worth doing if only for a few minutes, Talk the problems of the day out.

Saint Judas Thaddeus and Saint Maximilian Kolbe. Pray and ask for their aid. There are novenas to pray to them. Wear and use sacramentals. Send to traditional catholic monasteries requests for prayers. Pray unceasingly and go as often as possible to recieve sacraments, like Confession and Holy Communion. Go to adoration. These are the tips I give to you.

If alcohol had no mind-altering affects, would the majority of traditional Catholics be drinking it “for the taste”? Yes, many adults like the taste of alcohol, but only because it is an acquired taste. 99% began drinking it for different reasons, then they grew to enjoy the taste consequentially. I think we’re being dishonest if we’re pretending that people drink alcohol for the taste, even among the holiest and most “hardcore” Catholics.
The argument that THC is a psychedelic drug which could open one up to something demonic is more compelling. The fact that it dims one’s use of reason alone is not. Even 1 drink of alcohol dims a person’s use of reason, so if that’s why smoking weed is a sin, even in moderation, it should be the same for alcohol by that logic.

    • @TheWolves1138

I 100% agree. The double standard makes me think if their reasoning stems from their bias against weed that they had from earlier days when weed was exaggerately demonized for purely political reasons. This is one of the first times that i am more disappointed with the catholic response than the protestant one. How can you defend alcohol while arguing against weed? I want to honestly know why (if it is the case) consuming weed is sinful in itself and not once did i receive an objective answer. It‘s like they think about it until they come to a conclusion that fits them subjectively instead of seeking the objective truth. Jesus turned water into wine and he was aware that the guests at the wedding intended to get drunk from it. Why didn’t he speak out against it if he objects to it the way these people do?

Actually, since there is a large variety of different strains and types of marijuana, or more properly "cannabis", there are marijuana connoisseurs who do enjoy it for it's different aromatic qualities found in it's terpenes, as well as for it's visual aspects such as how well the buds are trimmed and cured, the moisture of it, it's after taste and harshness, and of course for it's different medicinal effects. A lot of care and creativity goes into the cultivation of the plants which makes it an art just as much as wine tasting or the production of wine. Not all cannabis is the same, some strains and types have less or no THC (the psychoactive chemical of the plant) and higher CBD (the non psychoactive and therapeutic chemical of the plant). With all of the current research, doctors, scientists and cultivators are now able to customize the level or percentage of the 100's of different chemicals specific to each persons needs and tolerances.
Also, many people with conditions and mental illnesses such as general anxiety, social anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, autism, schizophrenic disorders, depression, epilepsy, etc, all of which cannabis is now known to cure or treat, are not always able to just easily "overcome" them, because of certain genetic predispositions or chemical imbalances.
I think a lot of the stigma of cannabis comes from a lack of education and just sheer ignorance. It's very important for people, especially leaders religious, political or otherwise, to educate themselves on this important topic and stop laughing it off as just being something for silly stoners trying to "alter their minds" and escape personal responsibility.

TheFatimaCenter many Christians are saying that they take a “hit” of marijuana for the same reason that you just mentioned...to relax.
It’s possible to drink wine or beer to relax and not get drunk.
It’s equally possible to smoke marijuana to relax and not be intoxicated.
You have a false assumption that one becomes “high” immediately when they inhale.
That’s not true anymore than one takes a drink becomes immediately drunk.

@@paullaymon5133 I agree with you Paul. Unfortunately, this way is overlooked. On a special occasion I brought a rolled mj cigarette to celebrate with a friend. He was a regular overconsumer of the herb. He knew I only partake on special occasions. As we walked, I let him notice that I was not inhaling. When he asked me about it, I told him that I like I enjoy the experience only so long as I do not have too much, and that I would only inhale the smallest amount. He didn't immediately copy my ways, but it was a nice time and I think it helped for him to have that example.

Im a catholic who developed anxiety issues, and smoking has let me eat pray and sleep and play my guitar about 70% more than i used to. To me, it doesnt work the other 30% unless you let it help you develop an even stronger will. If you smoke and the result is you commit a sin, stay away from it God doesnt want it for you. If you smoke and you feel it helps keep you away from sin and keeps you stable then keep on keepin on. Act of Contrition “-and to avoid whatever leads me to sin”.

@@JohnDoe-ye9nd The moral principles are clear -- see for instance the discussion of "The Licit Use of Narcotics" in the online Moral Theology text by Frs. McHugh and Callan, #2485 here archive.org/stream/moraltheologyaco35354gut/35354.txt
Also of interest are the prior sections on The Obligation to Practice Sobriety, and Sins against Sobriety.
Applying these principles to the question of CBD use is a complex matter. To begin with, it is apparently not even clear whether CBD has psychoactive effects of its own, or if CBD oil is ever truly free of THC. www.kazmira-llc.com/blog/defining-thc-free-cbd-oil/
Other pertinent questions include whether the conditions being treated (e.g., pain, anxiety) could be addressed by other means which do not compromise sobriety.
The best advice we can offer you, which we see as the safest and surest course, is to have no part in this practice no matter how its popularity and legality advance.
In terms of the perspective offered by other Catholics, we received this comment some years ago:
"Intoxication by alcohol (ethanol) on one side, and certain drugs like cannabis on the other side, are not quite the same, but not too dissimilar in the long run. The difference is this: we constantly ingest alcohol along with the food we eat, and our own bodies produce alcohol as a part of the digestive process. This is not the case with drugs, cannabis included.
"With alcohol so omnipresent in nature, it is necessary that animals have a way to break alcohol down. Otherwise it would just accumulate in the body and no animal could function properly because the animals would always be constantly intoxicated.
"Alcohols such as methyl or isopropyl do not normally occur in nature. This is why we do not have a mechanism to break them down and why they are poisonous.
"Cannabis has similar problems, as it contains too complex compounds our body cannot get rid of efficiently. They accumulate, and quickly. It also has 7 to 10 times as much tar as one cigarette, increasing the chances of lung damage and emphysema. Psychoactive THC of cannabis get stored in body fat and take quite a long time to clear off the body - up to a month after only one use of cannabis. In that time, body is feeding the brain with psychoactive ingredients.
"Consequently, both alcohol and drugs are bad. Impaired development, vision changes, ataxia, memory loss, cravings, irritability, depression, anxiety, panic, psychosis, delusions, sleep disorders, loss of motor skills, weight loss, etc. Both cause changes in brain structure and function. They are also a quick way to psychological instability, weakening of will which opens the window to possessions."
      God bless you.

I am legally allowed to take CBD oil. I have struggled with pure OCD/ anxiety (purely thought based OCD since the age of 13). I am now 30 years old. I am a Catholic and I gained alot of weight on Celexa. Through cbd I have cut my meds to a quarter and am more naturally happy. I don't smoke Indica or anyway smoke currently. I take CBD oil and my sinuses are better, I sleep better, / my anxiety is better. Marijuana justly used for the benefit of health is "for the Children". These answers are coming from people who obviously don't smoke. Now if it's illegal then yes I see the immorality. But if its legal....? I'm so confused. I'm a Christian marijuana smoker.
