- Flowing South to North through the Blue Ridge Mountains, the ancient waters of the New River hold secrets only a lucky few anglers have revealed.
The elusive and solitary Musky, aka "the fish of 10,000 casts", is rarely found in southern region of the US, with the New River being one of very few exceptions. And as it's nickname suggests, hookups with these aquatic monsters are few and far between. Even then, a fight with a Musky, sporting rows of razor sharp teeth, does not always end in a victory.
The slab crew ventured deep into the most remote stretches of the New in search of one fish, one bite...ONE BEAST.

You were not musky fishing. You were bass fishing and you got lucky and caught musky. Get a musky setup and musky sized net and you will be alot easier on this apex predator
The complete opposite end of the New River I fish haha. I fish the mouth of the New River that leads out of North Topsail Beach! Yall's editing is really freaking good!!! That Musky was a beast even for a "small" one as you put it. Congrats on a great fish.

You must fish below claytor lake damn, I've caught many muskellunge there, and if you want walleye, go to draper road next to the river or Allisonia across the river to the landing and troll up about mile, then zig zag double jig rig around 12 to 3 in morning, I've caught so many there is stupid, i lived in Allisonia so i knoq all the holes, and when they run, i used to shine thw spotlight in the water, and the whole river bed was moving because of muskies there before, walleye is the fight though
