AFI's 100 Movies is a list of the 100 best American movies, as determined by the American Film Institute from a poll of more than 1,500 artists and leaders in the film industry who chose from a list of 400 nominated movies. The 100-best list was unveiled in 1998.
An updated version of the list 100 Greatest American Films, billed as a 10th Anniversary edition, aired on CBS on June 20, 2007

All great movies. But many of them hardly belong on a list of the 100 greatest ever -
Frankenstein not in the top 100?
As soon as I saw Pulp Fiction near the bottom, I knew I couldn’t trust this list. I just can’t accept that over 90 of these movies were better than Pulp Fiction.

this is when actual movie fans vote, notice Shawshank is number 72 where it belongs. this is not some imdb list made by right brain bandwagon driven kids.
There are hundreds of films better than PULP FICTION. And thousands better than DJANGO UNCHAINED, Tarantinos worst film.
I've seen 94% of these movies.

I think this list is old and might have been done before some of his best movies came out. Notice it doesn’t have any newer movies.
Christopher Nolan made no Top-100-worthy films.

The fact that Sunrise is only #82 is enough for me to flush this awful list. You cannot make a more perfect film than Sunrise.
How is Lawrence of Arabia judged to be an American film?

Good movies that don't belong on this list, or have not stood the test of time:
Blade Runner. Visually stunning, but otherwise unwatchable.
Do the Right Thing. Top 100? Really?
The Last Picture Show. Slightly above average, not great.
The French Connection. Good, not great. Has not aged well.
Platoon. Good, not great.
Easy Rider. Seriously? No way.
All the President's Men. Good, not great.
Tootsie. Enjoyed it very much, but top 100? I don't think so.
Network. Has one iconic line, but otherwise, not great.
American Graffiti. Meh, not great.
Annie Hall. Neurotic, not great. Has not held up well.
E.T. Top 100? Maybe, but no WAY at number 24.
2001: A Space Odyssey. I don't know one person who's actually watched the entire movie.
Number 1 should be, The Godfather. It's the perfect film.
