We love Chicken Kiev. These look gorgeous. Back in the very early 80s M&S used to sell them, really nice ones with the bone in: think it might have been a bit of the thigh? 🤔 . They were really nice, like the Kievs you'd be served at a restaurant of the day (you know the type, where a posh meal for us was Prawn Cocktail, Steak Diane and Profiteroles!😂😂) Can hardly find a chicken breast on the bone these days. Might give these a go one day....
Really good series of videos, good wholesome food, well made and inspiring. Ian's a lucky bloke to get home to meals like that. Just subbed and will be working my way through all! Can I ask the make/model of the table top oven?
Your Kiev looked so tasty and watching Ian eat it made my mouth water!so much better than shop bought, well done dinner lady, you never dis appoint ! ❤❤
Hello, My goodness. Home cooked meal once again. Lovely. I have never made this recipe at home unfortunately. I have always brought this from my butcher. Now that I know how to cook this, I will attempt to follow this recipe. Thank you once again for your culinary skills. I learn so much from watching your cooking channel. Excellent as always. Thank you. God bless you both. Debbie. Aussie land.
What another lovely recipe, thank you so much for sharing, would you be able to show the best way to cook a steak. I love cooking but I can never get a steak right despite following the usual tips, thanks Mand keep your gorgeous recipes coming. 💓💕
You make this look so easy Amanda. I usually cut the chicken breast along the side and stuff from there and I always get blow out from the butter melting out of it. So definitely going to try your way. Thanks so very much again Amanda for another great video. ❤
Love garlic butter, as you say, with parmesan. You might like to add a squeeze of lemon into it as well. I find it to be a great touch. I know you have children and grands... do you ever get to teach some of your skills to them, or do they just enjoy eating your cooking? My nan was the best cook, but no one was allowed in the kitchen until everything was ready. Lol, she was even reluctant to let me help with the dishes when I was a young adult, in case I broke something. Bless her heart. I, too, have a small kitchen. Where do you ever store all your appliances?! I find that I have to put so many of mine away that I don't bother using them so much.
Beautiful! No wonder Ian said he's feeling spoiled hahaha This is also one of my Hubb's absolute faves. He'll start dropping hints... lol And shop bought just DO NOT make the grade. I usually use the fillets as the plugs, but I love the idea of cooking them as separate tasty morsels and cutting the thin ends off to use instead :) That is so clever, actually. Thanks to you I am going to do that next time :) I always have breadcrumbs in the freezer that I've made from bread we haven't eaten, but I now also add some Panko. The crunch is amazing. I also start by frying mine then finishing in the oven. Our sides of choice are usually new potatoes, sauteed mixed peppers and mushrooms and tinned sweetcorn. Sometimes also asparagus or fine green beans, depending where we are in the year. I love crisp English asparagus with garlicky Kievs :) Ever since I learned how to make my own chips in the air fryer I haven't really looked back, but if I do buy them in, I love those Gastro chips. They are really good. Once again though, Mands, you are an inspiration! Love and best to you both xxx
Just an idea you could put a cocktail stick which as been soaked in a bit of water so it won't burn, stuck in the plugged end to keep it in place, so as the filling melts it won't push it out.
I love chicken Kiev, they looked absolutely divine Mand, much better than the chopped, shaped and reformed ones from the supermarkets. Such a good idea to plug the holes with the end bits too. Can't wait to try making these, you make it look so easy And, thanks for sharing xx
Looks fantastic. Love the method. I think it would work for making chicken cordon bleu. Cut the hole a little bigger and stuff it with ham and swiss, then pop the small in like you did to plug it up. Excellent. Thanks for your great recipes.
It’s only supposed to be old garlic taking the germ out reduces the pungent odour . And it’s got to be older garlic we’re buying anyways . Looks fab and brilliant tip putting the small cut off pieces in the ends 👏👏 much better than cocktail sticks
A great classic dish, easy to make. I see you have a dual zone Hysapientia air fryer oven....I bought one about 4 months ago, brilliant piece of kitchen kit 😊
That looks yummy, I love chicken Kiev but have never made it from scratch. M&S have been my go to but that looked easy enough for me to have a go. Thank you Mand🇬🇧
Wow the chicken Kiev looks so delicious. I’ve only ever tried a frozen brand Kiev and it was not good so I’ll have to try this. Compared to me, you put so much effort into your dishes and I admire that Dinner Lady. Thank you for sharing!
That sure looked good,I love chicken breasts.Never heard about taking out the little center garlic piece to reduce pungently, only once it’s turned green because it’s bitter.😊
Our methods are practically identical. I use as much Philadelphia cheese as butter and add a teaspoon of cornstarch per 500g to my filling. I also sew the end of the Kiev with a skewer. The green bit in the middle of the garlic is called the germ and has a very bitter flavour so is definitely best removed but it’s not what makes garlic smell garlicky.
Hi Amanda thanks for showing me how it’s done I’ve never been any good at doing it but I know now thanks to you where I’ve been going wrong 😅. I enjoyed the live with you and Ian the other night please do more . Thanks xx
that is the funniest way i have ever seen chicken kiev made. Kind of like how you would fill a donut. Usually the chicken is butterflied and the butter mixture spread, then it is rolled. Hey, whatever works. Much tastier if you season your breadcrumbs and much tenderer (yes i made that up) if you bake as opposed to fry.
Looks delicious. I didn't realise you just made a hole rather than slit chicken in half. Never made chicken Kiev but its going to be on my list now🤤. I recently bought a air oven, well its still in the box actually lol. Take care🤗
Realise I’m late, but to get rid of the garlic smell from your hands use a stainless steel soap bar. It’s just a small disc of stainless steel and it works brilliantly.
Can't get enough garlic.... yeh I'm probably pongy... don't care. I like the gross stuffing the hole technique. Try the chicken with 40 cloves... tasty!
I often say to my husband: if l went to view 2 houses for sale and one smelt of loads of chemical 'floral' plug-ins, and the other smelt of fried bacon and/or garlic, l'd buy the house that smelt of food!!😂😂
The heron beef dripping chips are fab, your son is right. Amanda the keiv looks fabulous. Doesn't it make you wonder why we buy these processed foods when home home is so much better?
@@thedinnerlady9180 Many thanks, I think Ive find it. Please can you cook liver and onions. Its a meal which I hated as a kid, but I think if you cook it and and explain how its cook correctly I will try and cook it for myself. Love you videos and have cooked several of you menus.

Quality! 😝 If I were to batch make these when would be the best time to freeze... after browning?
You could freeze before cooking just be carefully when defrosting as water will leek in the defrosting process and can make the breadding soggy x
Thank you Amanda.
For making my suggestion for chicken knives.
Much love to you both.
