    Hey saw your build log on your workbee - Is this level of cutting performance stock .. Or After the linear rail conversions :/ :(

      Hi, judging from the few photos I found from that time, it should be stock performance. I did the linear rails update a couple of weeks later.

    Cool stuff. My workbee has a similar X gantry flex. I did a test cut on 6061 aluminum. My part had from 0.05mm to 0.60mm errors in different areas. I am still troubleshooting as I think part of the issue is my endmill having a bit of runout. I am waiting on my dial indicator to arrive to run a few more tests.

      Added linear rails to X and Z plus steel plate to X. Now it is far more rigid.

    Is it works ok with lead screws driven? No backlash or any problems?

      Everything works just fine. Leadscrews are no problem, definitely better than belts. There is a tensioning upgrade available for old models of workbee and new ones have it already. I did not find any problems with backlash. I upgraded X axis to 1610 ballscrew, but the Y and Z is still on leadscrews and working fine.

    What Size is this Workbee? 1500X1000? Smaller? Larger 1500x1500 ? Worried about this X axis flex being amplified in the 1500X1500 variant I am wanting to order as the size allows for cutting acrylic panels in the sizes Id need but the main purpose of the build is to mill essentially the exact type of aluminum you have here. Camera never panned out to have any idea of Machine Axis Size. Any info would help!

      Hi, probably a late reply but here goes.. It is 1000x1000 mm. The wheels were not so good so I replaced them with linear rails on X and Z. Also added solid steel plate to X axis. Unfortunately I do not have much time to play with it.. But it cuts plastic like butter now. Aluminum is also very nice to cut with theese mods.

    hello nice video can you tell me the brand and model of the godfather and the cutter?

      Spindle is Kress fme 1050p. Tool used was some cheap single flute carbide type 3 or 3.175mm, it should be written in the video. Don't remember exactly.

    Awesome, I'm halfway through a railcore at the moment, what was your plunge rate?

    • @crabsshed
      @crabsshed  3 года назад

      Nice, are you sourcing the parts yourself? Sorry I do not remember the exact settings, but I'd guess it was around 150ish mm/min. Done a lot of upgrades on the workbee in the meantime, now I would go at about 350 plunge without hesitation and 3x the feedrate...

    Really nice. Reverse constructed the CAD files by yourself?

      Yes, sketched them in Fusion, approximate dimensions from available photos. They could use a bit of tweaking but in the end they worked out great. Actually finished the railcore about a month ago... Video of it printing face masks added to channel.
