IT WORKED ON MY MAC!!!! Thanks SO much! Someone in your comments said to reformat my flash using the Disk Utility, DOS FAT. I did and it worked EXACTLY as you showed. Thanks so much KIM!
Thank you, I was almost in tears trying to update my m7 for hours, walking from one side to of the house to another and following the instruction on janome website. 5K steps later I found you video and done it, Thank you again
Kim, thank you for your update video. I just wish Janome’s website was as clear and concise as you! I followed your instructions for the first update over 2 years ago and then again today for 2.0. I kept getting an error message when I tried to follow Janome’s instructions and then I watched your video and “bingo”……..worked like a charm!!
Thank you Kim. My newly purchased M7 arrived with latest version installed. But I will definitely keep your excellent instructional video for the next update.
I bought my m7 three months ago and have downloaded, read, searched, watched many different items to no avail, I just couldn't get the darn thing to update. That is until THIS WONDERFUL video. I am now updated and ready to go. Thank you for a complete instruction for us technology challenged people. Great job!
Love your videos. You speak slowly, clearly and enunciate your words, I’m able to hear and understand everything you say. Makes it so much easier to learn from an instructor that takes the time to produce a great video. Love that you add that little bit of extra detail in your instructions that most instructor don’t think to incorporate, such as things to look out for or to add to make the project turn out better. Thank you so much and please do keep up the great videos. Bernice
Just got a new to me M7 with under 15 hours of sewing time :) Did the update, clear easy instructions! Thank you. looking forward to watching more of your videos for this machine.
It sounds like it is absolutely necessary to have a computer to get the updates. I have an IPAD. Nobody mentioned this to me when I purchased my machine yesterday. Thank you for a very informative video.
Your Janome dealer can put the update files on a USB drive for you. It is possible to download the files to a thumb drive on an iPad but it takes some iOS savvy and a lightning to USB adapter. If you do use a computer it can be a Mac or Windows.
Thank You 🎃 I never knew there was an up date. Done it straight away when I saw you’re video. Thank You so much. Took about 4 minutes. I love my machine, I’m hoping to use it a lot more this year. I got it on Halloween last year when it came out over here. I was actually the first person in the uk to order one. Then my partner & mother died & I didn’t get to use it. Now I’m making a quilt & jackets.
Hi Kim, I've had my M7 since march, just as everything closed. I realized I needed to upgrade, but my dealer wasn't aware of it at that time. I have watched your video a number of times, and it is very easy to understand, but just tonight I had the nerve to upgrade. Everything went just like you said it would. I also just got my machine moved into a back bedroom and off the dining room/kitchen table, so all is well in our house. I have watched your discussions of Featherweights. I have one, and I have another Singer that takes the same bobbin case as the Featherweight, but it is in a cabinet, and is a brown colour. It seems to stitch along as beautifully as the Featherweight, but it may not vibrate as much with the pedal to the metal.
It took a few attempts , kept coming up ERROR on the yellow screen when I turned the machine on but finally got it to work after trying a new memory stick
Love your videos Kim! I’m still not able to update my machine 😫 I’ve followed the instructions but my machine doesn’t recognize the usb flash drive 🤷🏻♀️ So I reformatted the drive again, downloaded the files again and still not working. Any suggestions??
I would suggest getting another flashdrive and trying it. While I haven't had any issues with any flashdrives I use, I think that it might have to be a certain capacity to work. Have you tried asking your Janome dealer? They may have that technical information. I think my flashdrives are 16 GB.
That depends on your set up. I know quilters who have quilted king size quilts on a machine with a much smaller throat space. I've done lap size quilts with no problem and know others who have done queen size quilts easily on this machine. While the throat space is important, equally important is having the right support around the machine to hold the weight of the quilt.
The quality and info is great, but I couldn’t get it to update. I got as far as getting the info on the jump drive, but with one stick it was a white screen with a red border, with another stick it was a yellow screen and said error, and the same on the 3rd stick. Then I gave up as version 1.11 is just going to be fine.
One thing I found is that it's really important to only have the one specific file on the USB stick. If anything else is on the stick, that seems to cause a problem. Your local Janome retailer should be able to help you if you are continuing to have problems.
Thank you! I made sure the stick was clear. The trick that worked was sending the files one at a time. When I highlighted them all and moved it, it put them in the prog folder on the stick. I deleted that and when I moved one at a time the folder stayed open. Transfer complete! 🎉
I am updating my Janome M7 and find your instructions very good. The site says I need to update my update the Accuspark, but when I aim it at the "black spotty thing' it says it can't read the code and that it is for the machine? So I need to update the Accuspark?
Accuspark is an app that may need updating as all apps sometimes do. If you update Accuspark and are still getting this message, I would check with your local Janome dealer who can help you out with this specific issue.
I’m having trouble with my janome m7. I’ve only had lt for a couple of months, so still very new to me. I wanted to use the basting stitch …. All that keeps coming up is a message saying ( feed dog is down. Do you still want to sew. I’ve gone through the manual, but no help there. I do hope you can help me. 🐶
It sounds like you might be in the wrong menu - free motion quilting? or you have lowered your feed dogs. Check to be sure that you haven't accidentally engaged the lower feed dogs icon (check your manual on which one this is on the front of your machine). Otherwise, you need to choose a straight stitch and then increase your stitch length and you should be okay. Hope this helps.
Hi Kim, Thank you for the information. I followed the instructions and got to as far as inserting the USB stick into the machine, holding the two buttons in at the same time and turning the machine on...at that point the screen comes on with a white background, red border and a picture of the usb stick in the middle and just stays that way, it never turns yellow. The files are on the USB but nothing happening. Any ideas what might be wrong?
It could be an issue with the USB stick. I would format it or try another one first. If that still doesn't work, I would check with your local Janome dealer.
I have an IMAC. can I get the 1.11 download for the M7 using my IMAC? Also, The cd’s that came with my machine are for a PC. Can I get MAC cd’s from Janome?
Yes, you can get the download from the Janome website. Also, the CD's will play in any CD player - whether it's on your computer or not. If you have specific questions about updating this machine, my best suggestion is that you contact your Janome dealer to help you should you have issues.
HELP!!! I've attempted several times to do this software update on my new Continental M7, but each time I turn the power switch on, and while the USB with the updates in already plugged into the USB port on the M7, and while already holding the two buttons in on the front of the M7, when the screen comes on it is white, with a red border, and a symbol for a USB in the center of the screen. That's the only screen I get. I even continued holding the two buttons in for several minutes after the machine powered up, but the screen never changed from white with a red border and a usb symbol in the center of the screen... I'm using a new flash drive, San Disc 64GB. I formatted it for 32gb, then again for 16GB. I compressed the files before copying them to the flash drive. Not having any luck on Janome website for guidance other than I saw someone mention, on a different machine, not to use a flashdrive with GB, only to use MB flash drive... Any suggestions by anyone??? I live almost an hour and a half from my Janome dealer and really don't want to make that drive for them to do the update for me.
Sounds like you're having quite the time, Anita! When people have problems with installing the update, it's usually the USB stick so I would try another one (even though you are using a new one). This isn't my area of expertise - I'm not a Janome dealer and don't have their training - so you might need to at least make a call to your dealer to get some help.
@@Chatterboxquilts Thank you for your response, Kim! I will try another flash drive. I see others have said that helped them. If that doesn't work, I'll go ahead and take it to my dealer and let them do it for me. ;)
I Have both machines but as the M7 so you can still expect to see videos on both machines although I will be focusing on the M7 as it is the newest model right now. If you have any videos you'd like to see on either of these models, send me an email at kim@chatterboxquilts.com. I'm also looking for video ideas.
I'm not sure if you have a Mac or Pc but on the Mac, you need to pull the files out of the folder and only put the files on the USB stick to do the update to avoid errors. If you continue to have errors, I would contact your local Janome retailer who should be able to help you out. (I'm not a Janome retailer or rep).
I’ve tried this over and over, with three different Mac usb sticks and get yellow screen “error” messages or a white screen surrounded by red with the usb icon it. What should I try next?
Sorry you're having problems, Daune. Is this a problem putting it in the sewing machine or in the Mac? I'm not an expert on these but I do know that there can be problems with older USB sticks. If you are still having problems, I think this is a question for your Janome dealer - they should actually be able to update your machine for you if you take it in.
Thanks, my dealer hasn’t updated any of them yet since their tech is not working right now. The problem is with the machine, but I do wonder if I need a brand new USB. I can wait for now, but will save a link to your video, which was very helpful.
Hi Daune, I had the same problem with USB’s I had used on my Mac. So, I bought a new usb and just downloaded the Janome update straight to it and now it is uploading into my M7 with the update.
I figured it out.. I turned machine off, turned back on without USB stick in and worked correctly. I had formated usb stick as 16 kb size and it should have been 32 kb. 16kb was default and I did not change it. all fixed, all updated. WHEW
Try another USB stick - that may help. If you are still getting an error, contact your local Janome dealer for help as there can be several reasons why this is happening.

Not quite as simple...didn’t work 3 times but then read previous comments about trying a different USB stick. Phew! Did the trick!
