Will, this was an excellent video. I have been playing Tennis for many years, have read many books on Tennis, and have watched many videos. I have never seen or been taught this by anyone-Outstanding!!!
Interesting take. I think I do some of this intuitively when pressured...I'd add though 1)short take back on overhead 2)really move your feet and keep moving them until you start the swing to ensure good weight transfer. Too many rec players stop moving and mess up their weight transfer. Aggressive footwork on the overhead is the #1 thing to work on for the average player. I'd add, like a center fielder in baseball, when you see the lob, the first step is back. Always. Adjust accordingly if it's a bad lob, you'll have plenty of time to move in still.
it never occured to use a kick "Overhead" for balls pushing me back. I've always been thinking to work on my footwork, but it is good to have another option.
@@ironwilltennis Cheers. Btw, your videos have really helped my game (and I've watched A LOT of others). Appreciate your approach and engagement. Wish you were closer for in person lessons, lol.
Hey Will, as mentioned in the other comments great video and original instruction on the overhead. Noticed you changed your racquet and since you always have an interesting POV what a about a video with your take on how to choose a racquet, why you chose this one, and mistakes to avoid when thinking about changing a racquet? Thanks!

Never seen it structured this way. Great video, great concept

Now that you said it, the pros do this all the time. Slices and kicks overhead are very common. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! Hope it helped

6:00 - Flat vs Slice vs Kick overhead. Very useful view that shows the differences well - also a useful visual for the corresponding serves.
Thank you 🙏Let me know if it helps you out 😁
@@ironwilltennis It does, that's why I bookedmarked the timestamp of interest to me for reference for when I come back, like now. Thanks 👍
this makes so much sense! great video and logic
Thank you 😁 hope it helps

Sometimes the movement won't make it any better and you just gotta do what works
Awesome Video Will, thanks
Very welcome 😁 hope it helps
Another great video Will! I take this into my next session. Have you switched to the Pure Strike now?
I'm playing around with different racquets I'm definitely switching to something new
Great video! Also love seeing you with a Pure Strike. Is this a racquet you like?
I'm demoing a few while I consider switching

No one else talks about the details the way you do. I watch so many tennis videos and I have never seen this..
Proud to be unique 😁 thank you for the compliment
Another non nonsense good lesson
Nice and logical instruction video as always. I noticed that you changed your racket. Is it 98 inch 305g?
Nice eye 👁 yea I'm considering switching but no that is the tour version it's the heaviest
like
Left. Right. Or center.
Hey, can you do a video on how to read that an overhead is coming?
I can touch on that 👍
@@ironwilltennis Cool in a separate video or will you update this video?
