I really like this idea. you should try a video where you make the same kind of dish and compare with 5 for 1, 10 for 2, 15 for 3 and 20 for 4. See how even smaller bulk can make a difference
That sounds an awful lot like a budget lunch in Brazil, but we usually add some farofa for texture, and of course the rice and beans are better quality
Not in Canada you can't. For an average: -Your bag of rice is gonna be 4 dollars -Not sure what veggies you're thinking of, so I'll go broccoli for another 2.50 since its on the cheaper side. -For your meats I'll be honest I'm not familiar since I don't eat it but from what I'm seeing you're looking at least 5 more dollars.
Okay but you can’t just buy 4 slices of bread and two slices of cheese. You would have to buy at least a half load of bread and a stack of sliced cheese. It still comes under the budget at $4.44 exactly but not exactly $2 😅
Let me tally that up for you in Canadian dollars! - Loaf of bread: 3.40$ -Iceburg lettuce: 2.70$ (bag of salad greens is 5 bucks so I assume this is preferred) -Block of cheese: 6.70$
You can do much more with $5 if you don’t go for the instant stuff. If you have access to bulk stores like a Winco you can buy a cup of uncooked rice for cheap, a couple of different veggies, and even some meat from the meat counter. A lot healthier and more filling
Guys, this is $3.63 in the US, plus the obvious constraint of not having a full kitchen. That looks like a work break room with only a microwave. I also get the impression that they're trying to have a varied meal (drink/side/dessert) and not just one thing. Y'all need to relax.
This isn’t that great of a meal.. your main course is rice and beans, you could’ve added some meat in there if you skipped the Mars bar and apple 😭 or got a bagged salad to go with it
This is a nice, balanced vegitarian option. True they could have skipped the candy bar to go for a veggie, I would have gotten a pepper & / or an onion to go in the rice, but the apples are a good option, sweet and healthy fiber.
Thankful that in my country i can buy pretty much anything at the local restaurant, pizza 4$, grilled chicken, fries, sauce and vegetables 6$, pasta 4.50$
I'm curious on if you saved the change from these challenges what you'd have? And then what could you do with that change for the whole group of friends xD
Once managed to do dinner for a few days with ten dollars got 1lb ground beef was on sale 3.99, can of .59 manwich, bread on sale for .79 had plenty left to buy an onion, fruit and vegetables
if you guys stay in my country,we can buy a box of fried chicken (kind alike a kfc) the box contains 2 pieces of fried chicken+rice+fries with a drink...😭 i can't live there...kinda expensive huhu
I feel like there’s surely easier lunches…or at least in the UK it’s easier to get stuff for under £5
they dont have tesco meal deals 😢
Also 5£ is more like $8.50CAD, you'd only have about 3£ if you're keeping it equivalent
Meal deals
@@cricketcalin £3.50 Tesco/Sainsbury's/Co-op/Boots meal deal babyyy (£3 if you have a Tesco Clubcard or Sainsbury's Nectar Card 😉)
well in Canada where I live and where they are filming its expensive for food😅 (also no Tesco)
NOT THE MINUTE RICE 😭😭
Dolores um bridge IS definitely da worse lol
Yeah.
You just KNOW she has absolutely no freaking idea about either budgeting OR cooking.
At all.
As an Asian I do not approve lol
as an asian it hurts
as an asian im currently sobbing under my bed and i have lost hearing in my left eye and gained the sense of taste in my right nostril
meanwhile me in england: £3.50 tesco meal deals 😎
Yesss
You wouldn’t even technically have enough for a meal cause the conversion of $5 cad would equal to around 3.45 in euros :)
£3 poundland meal deal
@@outoftheclosetgaymes7449sorry not to be rude just a bit confused- he is talking about pounds how would euros affect that
Love me some tesco meal deals
I really like this idea. you should try a video where you make the same kind of dish and compare with 5 for 1, 10 for 2, 15 for 3 and 20 for 4. See how even smaller bulk can make a difference
That could be fun 🤔
just beans and rice for a meal is crazy
Just plain beans and plain rice with a lime wedge?
That sounds an awful lot like a budget lunch in Brazil, but we usually add some farofa for texture, and of course the rice and beans are better quality
Sounds awful to me.
Me finally finding out that it’s a Canadian channel
🇨🇦👋
Omg hiiii street cents!!!!
I LOVE this series sm ❤❤❤
That was the most dismal attempt at stretching those $s. Smh
When working with less money always aim for eggs, bread and cheese or deli ham and frozen juice. It will get you a bit further.
Plot twist: She walks away with both of their money, without making the lunch.
go to indonesia, u get whole plate of rice with chicken, chilli, and veggies for 2 dollars
For 5 dollars you can buy a kilo pack of rice with veggies and meat-
Not in Canada you can't. For an average:

@@NightRainPandaoh also, if the op of the comment u replied to watched the video, the bag of rice under the minute rice was $9.99 😭
Not me expecting this to be some amazing mouthwatering chef video for a budget😂
Ik she ain't season rice and peas with a lime and nothin else 😂
✨girl math✨
I would buy some ramen and some eggs and green onions lol
Bro grab a slice of toast and slap some cheese and salad on there. Boom sandwich for 2 bucks.
Okay but you can’t just buy 4 slices of bread and two slices of cheese. You would have to buy at least a half load of bread and a stack of sliced cheese. It still comes under the budget at $4.44 exactly but not exactly $2 😅
depends on where you live, bc cheese where I live is $5 minimum- like that's the whole budget LMAO
Let me tally that up for you in Canadian dollars!
- Loaf of bread: 3.40$
-Iceburg lettuce: 2.70$ (bag of salad greens is 5 bucks so I assume this is preferred)

“both of you?” “at the same time??”
I love your videos!❤❤
All of you look so nice!
I love your good videos gorgeous!
Love youu❤️ thank you!
Hugs❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🫶
bot!
Cans of cream soup are often $1 around me, extreme bang for buck
That minute rice is incredible ngl
i would have gotten ramen
i feel like this series is just making americans and brits realize how expensive food is here😂
my tryphobia would never eat that
The hell does that have to do with it
Argument: Math is important
Reasoning:
In Pakistan I could use these 5 dollars for a whole day meal 😂
In Korea you can buy a whole gourmet meal of ramens and drinks
"This look amazing"
No. No it doesn't. Why not buy real rice? You're on a money limit, not a time limit.
In the uk we can get a meal deal for 3.50 05 4.00 way cheaper .
I wish I had that long of a lunch
Why does it look better than my 10$ school lunches 😭
You have to pay $10 for school lunch???? That’s wild
@@Jellybeansatdusk yes 😭
As an Indian the rice looks like a Walmart version of rajma chawal( kidney beans and rice)
Prison food be like:
I thought she's gonna cook something 😂😂😂

I struggle a lot with being able to afford food, my meals cant go over 1,86$ per portion. 5$ per portion is a real treat for me😍
I'm upset there's not at least two tortillas with the beans and rice.
It'd be overbudget. Additional 3.00 at least.
In America, you can get an entire rotisserie chicken from Costco for $5. And it is delicious!
How much was sales tax
Other countries have taxes included in their prices
Not canada though
now I would personally use the $10 to buy ingredients to prep an actual meal for the two to take portions from
Burger King literally has a 2for $6 option 😂
She tries to go to diffrent places / get diffrent things each video. I know she did Mc D's idk if she's done Burger King yet.
Guys, this is $3.63 in the US, plus the obvious constraint of not having a full kitchen. That looks like a work break room with only a microwave. I also get the impression that they're trying to have a varied meal (drink/side/dessert) and not just one thing. Y'all need to relax.
7 dollar foot long from subway. Done.
They did that in another video. I think she tries to do something diffrent each time.
@Tiny’Ouse *pays my respects* 😔🤚 🙏🙏
@@FluffieXStarshine taking the easy way out
You mean 12 dollar footlong.
Still better than my school lunches
Beans and rice are actually really good. I lived on that when i was super sick.
I would b disappointed ☹️
Es casamiento con limon, jugo y manzana, no voy a mentir, se ve rico XD
Her hair is so cute!!!!
This isn’t that great of a meal.. your main course is rice and beans, you could’ve added some meat in there if you skipped the Mars bar and apple 😭 or got a bagged salad to go with it
Beans are protein. Rice and beans are a complex carbohydrate. Not every meal needs meat
This is a nice, balanced vegitarian option. True they could have skipped the candy bar to go for a veggie, I would have gotten a pepper & / or an onion to go in the rice, but the apples are a good option, sweet and healthy fiber.
Both of you and at the same time is crazy
Jarritos are better though
Girl the way I couldn’t eat that. Just gimme some cereal😭
ok
Why did everyone skip over the “both of you at the same time” joke💀
I would be upset cus i cant eat a meal without meat (edit: im so dumb lol)
Grains and beans give protein and beans in general are a good source of protein
brown rice and beans have protein. Just say meat cuz that's what you mean lol
The beans are the protein for the meal. I think one of her co-workers is a vegitarian (from a previous video) which could be why she went this route.
@@elissa8242 yeah idk why i put protein tbh
10/10 struggle meal, would eat if I my mom hadn’t gone grocery shopping in 3 weeks (≧∀≦ゞ
Pin pls?
I’m also in Canada and all I can afford is $50 a week for groceries. You can get better things!
Thankful that in my country i can buy pretty much anything at the local restaurant, pizza 4$, grilled chicken, fries, sauce and vegetables 6$, pasta 4.50$
Literally me when I got stuck in canada without food
the rice cooker and jasmine rice:🫡
Korean stores: 👁️👄👁️
I can survive a whole week with these 5 dollars loll💀😭
I feel like canned chicken could’ve easily been added if we’re going super cheap
Movie night under 5$ please!!
Yay people are in Canada on hereeee! 😅😅
As a british I just think of the £5 meal deal 😂
I cook.quinoa for 3 days add alot of green salat, avocado, tuna(can) or some Protein. No more than 5 dolars for sure! But home made
Dutch lunch: slice of bread + butter + cheese
Two cups of rice in that size is $2.50?!!!! Too expensive. That is pure rob*ery!
10 quid in uk got me so much, could literally make 3 burgers for that if even less, crazy
in singapore you can get full meals for 4 dollars at hawker centres.
I'm curious on if you saved the change from these challenges what you'd have? And then what could you do with that change for the whole group of friends xD
In India, You get 3 plates of biriyani within 5 dollar lmao
I think it’s easy lunch I could buy like three big school lunch which is actually good and set food and can refill it at least in my country
Near my house, it would cost 10 dollars for one persons lunch, lol. Maybe it’s just the shops over here though,
This should be a series
It is! Check out the playlist

In the uk you can get a 7 inch pizza, chips, 2 wings and a drink for £4.99
Or you can get a 444 at Wendy's it's only $4.30 and it has a drink, nuggets, fries, and a burger .
Doesn't exist in Canada.
Unhealthy to eat every day
Once managed to do dinner for a few days with ten dollars got 1lb ground beef was on sale 3.99, can of .59 manwich, bread on sale for .79 had plenty left to buy an onion, fruit and vegetables
Nah y'all complaining about the food choices, but bro, when u got 5 bucks, anything tastes good
girl said "let's see what we got" as if she didn't just buy everything in that bag
Meanwhile in Hawaii you can have Ramen with spam, poi and lemonade. Or you can have Mangoes and Papaya for free since they’re everywhere 😂
easy meal deal from tesco
if you guys stay in my country,we can buy a box of fried chicken (kind alike a kfc) the box contains 2 pieces of fried chicken+rice+fries with a drink...😭 i can't live there...kinda expensive huhu
New harder challenge 5$ split between two individuals.😮
Where I live I can get a sandwich/pasta pot a drink a sweet and something extra for £3 😂
She is the BUDGETQUEEN
She is so good at this thats why u need math jn life lol 😂
Omg the tea is my favorite
I thought she was gonna do the $5 COOKING challenge, this isnt a challenge, it's easy af
Yeah, that's probably the best youll get for 5$ in Toronto. Literally a drink, sauce, and a slice of pizza from Pizza Pizza is like, 10$
I love peac teas
In India this is called Rajma Chawal
Loblaws owned store. She was doing it on hard mode
Could have made a butt ton of pasta for 10 dollars 😅
bro just get a beagle from tim’s, easy under $5 lunch
This girl just can’t buy a lunchable like WHY ITS THAT EASY
Couldn't just get a McDonald's happy meal for both of them
