@@dantewalston2755 Considering Price's thick southern accent, she pretty much lost out on the "unmatched" game from the get go. Please do not forget that opera is mainly a voice acting, it is not simply sounding out the notes. It is a story that needs to be told and one of the things it requires is a clear and precise pronunciation of words and Price never had that.
@@ozzyozzy6172 I agree Leontyne has a huge accent, and I agree that opera is about putting the voice to work. But vocal quality, there isn’t another soprano that can contrast with her voice in its prime. Her interpretations of Verdi and Mozart are untouchable!
@@dantewalston2755 Okay, I am not going to keep at this as I like Price and I can tell you're a devoted fan of her but you know that singing has many components like cars having four tires and one cannot say that the car runs beautifully when one or more tires are missing or off their hinges.
The first 45 seconds left me in tears. My very personal opinion is that her Forza Leonora is unmatched and incomparable.

Wish we had subtitles :(
Her Leonora is unmatched to this day..
I'm not sure about unmatched, it is quite exquisite. But this aria is Leontyne Price's and Rosa Ponselle
