Great review. I've literally just bought a FED 2D on eBay to go with my Zorki's and Zenit's. Waiting for it to arrive. Looking forward to using it even more so now.

    Enjoyed the video!
    I have a fed 2 like yours which is I believe a type 2e
Do you know the history of the various fed types that evolved over 2 decades?
Interested to know about those early coloured ones.

I enjoyed your review of the FED 2. I live in Dublin, Ireland, where I bought one in a Latvian vintage store for 35 Euro. It is very similar to yours but it has English script spelling FED underneath the Russian script on the faceplate. Any idea what that might mean? Was it an export model? Also, I noticed that your shutter sound is noticeably quieter than mine, almost Leica-like in fact. That said, mine takes great pics. Yours are stunning. What film did you use? FP4?

Yes the lens I26m is prone to light bleeds... so you must either shade lens with hand or use a lens hood... it can ruin contrast if you don't take care... just saying....

Thanks for the video! I have a FED 4. I'll make a video about it and upload on my RUclips channel dedicated to film photography!

I'd recommend a vented lens hood to help prevent the flare that you had in some of the photos. The Industar 26M is prone to flare and really needs a hood. The hood/filter size is 40.5mm and the hoods run about $6 or $7 on eBay new.

Actually, "Cheka" is not a town in Soviet Union. It's a "ВЧК" - "Всероссийская Чрезвычайная комиссия". It is the first name of KGB (КГБ - Комитет Государственной Безопасности", and Felix Dzerjinsky is a russian/soviet revolutioner, founder of KGB service in Russia.

best video I've seen on a fed 2. would like to see more images shot by you on that camera. does the lens have a thread to take a lense hood, you want to sell that little gem

Thank you, but none of my 100+ cameras are for sale. When I die, I'm sure Estate Sale people will have a ball. Anyways, I'm glad you liked my corky video. I'm normally more normal. Keep shooting film and keep the film alive.

On the FED 2 model, the Zarya and the Zenit 3M (possibly others) the two part shutter speed selector means you can change speeds before cocking if needed. It's a different design to the single piece selector. See more here: www.zorkikat.com/2009/07/how-not-to-destroy-your-fed-and-zorki-a-basic-primer/
