I have been waiting for the day Ben uses his talents to make a table for the house. Something beautiful yet diversely useful because the space is at a premium. I would imagine he makes a bench seat along the back wall near the windows for storage. Then maybe the table is capable of getting longer or shorter. I think the legs on the processing table are fine. It does the job. I would add a shelf underneath as others have suggested.
I'm a woman in my 70s, and have lots of projects going on our farm. My husband takes no interest AT ALL, so it's another one of my responsibilities to build, maintain, repair, restore, whatever is needed. I've been tearing down old sagging garage shelves, to access a wall that was water damaged. Tore out old sheet rock and nasty insulation. Replaced all that, and painted the wall a fresh, uplifting color, from dark brown, to pale green/white. Fixed some electrical. Now, building HIS freestanding garage shelf unit frames out of 2x4s, and 3/4 inch particle board shelves. I always shop at Habitat ReStore stores first, to recycle building materials. I got all my shelves from there. I used polyurethane sealant on shelves, then placed contact paper on top. The frames are all primed, then painted white. I think it will make cleaning easier. I got the first unit completed, but lost some motivation, to get the second one done, as he doesnt help, and criticizes what I HAVE done. He says, "Well, I wouldnt have done it like that." I told him he's welcome to do it at all. I've been using the same box frame design, and cross supports, as you are for your table, so I knew I had been doing something right!! If BEN does it, it's fine enough for ME!!! 🥰😆 The shelves should be sturdy enough to hold any type of garage 'stuff' he/we can think of. You've motivated me to get the second unit built! Starting NOW!! Thanks, Ben!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, that's a project! So sorry your husband is so unsupportive! I'm divorcing mine and I'm 63 years old, soon to be 64. My husband wants me to fix our hobby farm he has let "rot" and I got hit by a car as a pedestrian over 10 years ago and I don't have the mobility I used to have and I can't do it! He thinks I'm faking my injuries. I'm done with him! Bye bye! I loved my farm but he ruined it for me. Nasty person. Our boys are 19 and 20 years old and soon to be out on their own. They see my pain but he won't. I'm not taking his blame for his neglect of the farm!
@StoneKathryn Thank you!! I can certainly relate to these Narcissistic Sociopaths. Such a waste. He was diagnosed with a rare, inoperable, incurable cancer, a year ago, so I would never feel right about leaving. God is in charge. I've had 3 hip replacements, 8 heart attacks, 8 stents, quadruple heart bypass, severe migraines, and 7 back surgeries, but still manage to 'take care of ...' He ... hmmm. Thing is, he is such a mean person, I prayed for years, that God would get his attention. Then, he had an emergency surgery, and they found the cancer.
@@susanmcconnell6041 So sorry you've had to "suffer' through him! My first husband murdered my mom and shot my twin sister when I left him. I'm not going to let this one do that again to me. I'm gone. I feel that God has kept all this pain in my body so It would come out what an awful person he is. He was hiding it. Now I know. He is a Dr. Jekyll, and Mr. Hide just like my first one was that went to trying to kill me in 2 years. We've been married now for 14 years and this one is about there again. They are so sick and they just can't see it. I hope mine gets sick too! Sorry God! I'm so sorry for the waste of your time he has been! I keep doing it too. The guy I talk to now is terminal. I feel safe with him. Weird! Big hugs!!!!! I love all my kids and that's the wonderful part of my two bad marriages. God is good!
I have followed you since you bought your land and boys were younger your family has grown so nice to see how you all have come so far and worked so hard many blessings to your family
As a 58 yr old, I am suffering from empty nest syndrome big time with her kids literally a thousand miles away. I live vicariously through your videos and enjoy seeing your beautiful family. Thank you, and Happy New Year! May you be blessed!
I love that this video has been up an hour and has over 10,000 views. I’ve been watching you guys for several years and I still enjoy it very much. ❤🙏❤️🙏
Missed ya'll. Glad that you had a break. I do appreciate your sharing. The wait to see your great come back for 2025 was anxiously anticipated but, it's good to see and hear you again. Blessings and prayers to you and family ☝ 🙏 🙌 for safety, strength, health, discernment and success coupled with peace and perseverance.
Thank you for posting a video today, the year has started really badly for our family so it's important for me right now to watch my favourite youtubers and you and your beautiful family have been a part of my life since you first bought your homestead which was when I found your channel. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday time and you enjoyed your break Ben and I truly hope you will continue picking up the camera ☺️ I wish you all a wonderful 2025. Much love to you all xxxxxxx
🙌whooo score!! Ben! Win for team Hollar Heard you on the workshop podcast Ben that your refocusing in on the build on your home. My family is rooting you on and praying for what you need to be successful to come to you ❤️sending your family blessings for many more wins this year💫
Greetings from Wisconsin. Nice job on the table, Ben. Meg, the bread is beautiful, gorgeous, and I can smell it! Thanks for sharing life from the Hollar Homestead.
I have been following you since, you got invited to roots and refuge for Xmas when you were still looking for land, many years ago❤, it’s great to see how your family has grown, happy new year!!
Suspenders are the best! I wear them everyday! Gotta get bachelor buttons on your pants, having that solid mechanical attachment as opposed to a clip is a game changer.
Welcome back Hollars! Meg you are a trooper. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but I salute you for the hours per day that you have to spend there to feed that gang of hungry family 3 meals a day!
I can just remember you announcing you were expecting Buggie and so I cannot believe sweetie pie is already as big as she is. My goodness who would have thought when you and the boys all landed there that you would be blessed with those two sweet little girls. Time flies. I remember the boys in Ca playing and the chicken walking into the kitchen while you were making bread and or making soap. Crazy........slow it down a bit I am 78 now and watched almost all your children since they were tykes or about........ Love that you all sit for dinner with all around and praying Grace before dinner. It reminds me of growing up when mom, dad and we seven sat around the table doing the same. Wow, God blesses you so greatly with all that love. Love your family and you two are exceptional........wondering if your own mother cooked as you do Meg, or did you just take a liking to cooking? Not like we have a lot of choice when we have a family to feed. Love watching you all. God bless!
Missed you all but I am sorry you were sick but now it appears you all are on the mend. Your girls are growing up fast. Happy New Year and here’s hoping for a good year’s of crops and animal harvest. Glad you are back.
I was just thinking about your family today! So nice to see you back. Many Blessings in the New Year!! Little Elizabeth is so photogenic! And she's standing!
So glad to see you all back! Prayers for healthy new year. Such a cutie that little one is standing. Buggy is so cute and melts my heart. Always wait for her special "bye"
Welcome back, glad the Hiatus is over. Pantry challenge is a great idea, one never has a true idea of what is hidden in there and can save money as you aren't buying something that is hidden in there!!
It must be "the season". I went thru my pantry today - clearing out, inventory-ing and organizing. It took me ALL day and mine was fairly organized to begin with. I had an entire dishwasherful plus a good dozen jars I did by hand. It really wasnt that much work and now it's so much more manageable. Dishes done and jars clean and stowed ❤
So much admiration for the H o l l a r s. Oh, yeah. Canada. My self reliance is a great channel on the tube. He's pretty much a one man show up there when it comes to building and growing in the wilderness. Sweet on that table, Ben. Our daily bread brought to you by Meg, a pinch of this and that artist in the kitchen ever creating yummy in the kitchen. Peek a boo, Elizabeth Rose. You all are such a dear family. Thanks for sharing with us.
So glad to see you back on RUclips! Hope you had a blessed holiday season. Looking forward to more videos and before we know it'll be seed starting time❤
I love the starting of this video, Elizabeth looks so happy! The pigs look happy! I like your project to make your butcher table a "real" table. The brackets you made to attach the table top to your new frame are so great. The legs look "industrial" but it's a butcher table so it's okay! Meg's cooking is always such a good subject to see! I hope your holiday time was wonderful and relaxed while you took your break from filming! You guys are great! Thanks for this video Hollar family!
Welcome back. Glad the fam is doing better. Ben, you remind me of my son. Repurpose/ reuse ♻️ til you need to buy. I think the table turned out great. Being a woman I would suggest putting a shelf underneath for storage, but that’s just me. I ❤❤❤ shelves. Take care, stay warm 👵🏻❣️
💕💗💕🙏🙏🙏 So blessed to have a video from you. Ben enjoyed watching the table build and always enjoy Meg’s cooking. Your family is so precious. Love in The Lord Jesus Christ 💕💗💕
Lovely to see you back and how the girls are growing! I had to have a little smile at the beginning of the video about your "suspenders"? here in the UK they are what hold up ladies stockings and we call your "suspenders" braces.
You have a Cruiser...how exciting! I can't get over how fast babies grow, wasn't Elizabeth just born? Hey wait, wasn't Lilyanna just born too? It is so nice to see a slice of the sweet life you work so hard to create for your family. Be blessed.
Happy New Year! I hope it is the best yet for y'all. I have been watching y'all for a very long time and just love your family and watching the children grow. I took a break from social media for a long time, so I am playing catch up. Meg, I love to watch you cook, and if you haven't already, you should write a cookbook. In your spare time, of course 😂. Enjoy all of your videos.
Its such a joy to see you guys hope you are staying warm and healthy in this weather. OLD Man winter paid us a visit Sunday night through Monday he gave us about 4inches of snow ❄️. God bless you. Happy new year 🎉
❤🎉 Yea! Hollars back! 😊 Meg, I inadvertently am doing a freezer challenge because Ive got some pretty old things in there!😮 Between canned meats, veggies and "boxed" food, Only thing I may need to buy are potatoes and onions, milk n butter, bread. I know, I know. Make your own bread! Another freezer in the garage so I should be good for 3 months😊😊

Enjoy your soup. I pulled my split pea soup out of the freezer yesterday. The cold makes me crave soup. I'll enjoy some with you! Stay warm! I'm in Minnesota near Red Wing. I've seen your "avatar" on Lumnah Acres too. Happy New Year!
Welcome back! I don’t care for the Azure pasta either. I use it when it can get lost in a heavy or hearty sauce or stew. Prayers and blessings for 2025.
Now you need a set of Dickies Stonewashed Indigo Bib Overalls and you'll be full on East coast farmer certified, there is a reason they have been on the farm since 1922. Hope the Hollardays were fun for you all.
My mother died January 3, 2025. I’m devastated, but to see a Hollar video is such a welcome distraction. Thank you. Always cherish family.
So sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family.
Sorry for your loss❤
Sorry for your loss 😢
So very sorry for your loss. 🌷
I'm so, so sorry.
Watching you rummage through your scrap metal pile reinforces the idea that I never throw anything away. You never know when you might need it.
I have been waiting for the day Ben uses his talents to make a table for the house. Something beautiful yet diversely useful because the space is at a premium. I think the legs on the processing table are fine. It does the job. I would add a shelf underneath as others have suggested.
You might consider adding a shelve underneath. It would take care of the wobble and give you added storage for tubs on butcher day.
You are right! The shelf makes it stable and who doesn’t need another shelf?
Meg, I loved the background music selection while Ben was working on the table legs. Very fun!!
I love watching the baby peeking around dad to look at the camera 😊
With those BIG eyes! So sweet!

It cracked me up when Buggy went totally Scarlet O'Hara from Gone With The Wind and was making a dress out of curtains!
Just watched, and I'm really proud. Keep the awesome work!
We used to mill lumber here in Minnesota. We were lucky enough to live in a hardwood forest. We mostly milled oak. We heated our 5 bedroom house for 30 years with mostly oak. We never cut down a live tree. I kind of miss having the lumber. My son and his wife made lots of furniture with our wood. The table is awesome.

I have always admired that table. Now I like it even more. Thank you for sharing.
Now you need a set of Dickies Stonewashed Indigo Bib Overalls and you'll be full on East coast farmer certified, there is a reason they have been on the farm since 1922.
