Oh my goodness, I remember watching their Christmas specials every year! I am sure I watched this in 1967. I miss those days when my whole family was still alive to watch with me.
Omgggg I have not thought of the King Family since I was little! Mind blown!! Their TV specials were always watched by my fam. Im 60 so im guessing I watched in late 60s and early 70s. Corny indeed!! Lolol.
This brings back so many memories of my childhood Christmases. This was one of the shows my parents watched and I would always watch, as well. I am almost 67 and still watch the old Christmas variety shows. Andy Williams is my perennial favorite! Take me back! 🥹
I adored the King Family and watched all their shows. Not only were they all wonderful performers, but the shows were expertly staged as well. I particularly liked the way the costuming was done - for example, dresses for the moms, the teens, and the younger girls were coordinated yet styled appropriately for each age group.
It was so christmas, so magical! Then after id go into my flower power wallpaper bedroom, while the comforting heat from the vents lul me to sleep dreaming of what I wanted from santa, as the cold winter snow covers the trees outside my window. Hearing my parents softly talking in the kitchen, and I was out like the light of a lite- brite toy!!!!
I've seen some of this recently but I haven't seen the entire thing in ages. What memories. I was 11 when this aired.😥. I sure wasn't prepared to find it here.
21:21 - this was a genuine response during a *live broadcast* . She had no idea that Ric would make an appearance in-person. He had joined the Army earlier in the year, and was able to appear here in exchange for plugs to drum up support for the Army in the Vietnam days. 21:39 - "It can't be done" was one of the inside phrases they had.
When I was a little girl, I remember complaining to my Mom about us having to watch the King family holiday shows. I guess I can see now why she enjoyed them.
Their Christmas album was one of a handful that we played every year. The back of it had a picture of the entire family, with a chart listing each member. Tina Cole, one of the cousins, played Katie Douglas on My 3 Sons, too.
The King Family were very popular in the days when variety was plentiful eg Andy Williams, Bing, Bob, Perry - everybody! At one point, The King Family came on three or four times a year for holiday specials. Of course, Tina Cole" (Katie from My Three Sons) appealed to teens and young adults. As kids our joke was always, who the heck is Alvino Rey?
Let's see, January 1, 2025 and I'm old, six years about the time this was run on television. Never heard of the King Family I must confess. I do see two actors. One, "Katie" from "My Three Sons" and the other, the wife on the weird last season of "Hazel" after Don DeFore and Whitney Blake were cast off for the new parents after the first set were sent to Saudi Arabia.
They appeared @ the multnomah hotel in the 1950s. According to my mom they were the rudest most stuck up ppl she ever waited on. She said they were too impressed w themselves. And they stiffed all the service staff while staying there. All were glad when their contract was up and hoped they never came back. There were many celebrities that performed in the lounge and none were ever as awful despite their egos.
Perry Como, Andy Williams, Dean Martin, the King Family what a magnificent era. We have nothing like this today.

Miss these types of shows 🎄.
I remember us a little kid being so happy and excited when Tina Cole joined the cast of My Three Sons. I thought Robbie was so lucky!
This is wonderful. For some reason, I never saw The King Family on our television. I am sorry I missed it, because it is wonderful.
So great seeing daughter Tina Cole who was a great actress co-starring in Palm Springs Weekend and on My Three Sons TV show in a recurring role.
