    I thought Rykard's torture of the Albinaurics was a part of his research into making the snake men, they're another artificial race created by him

    • @sneezewax3567
      @sneezewax3567 2 года назад +27

      Rykard probably tortured the albinaurics because of that part in the silver tear husk description that says one day one may be a lord. Rykard doesn't want a new lord to rise which is why he is killing tarnished.
      The snake men were born from a woman named Daedicar, who is mentioned in the talisman you get for completing Rya's quest.

    • @iepic32g

      That does make sense since the ones with the masks do have that snake bite move which they use when they grab you.

    This is wild speculation, but perhaps once Radagon became married to Rennala, fundamentalism began to the seep into the Academy and their ways, which in turn led to the persecution of the Albinaurics that may have once had refuge within Caria. This may be why they made pilgrimage to seek refuge under the watch of Miquella

    • @jeremymullens7167
      @jeremymullens7167 Год назад

      One of the first glint stone instructors you can find is not a fundamentalist. She kills other sorcerers to steal their bodies and experiment and make artifacts with.
      If you had a race with innate spell casting, it would be very tempting to those kinds of sorcerers.

  • @clearlypellucid

    "Albinauric" also means "made of white gold," by the way. So the silver tear thing is probably right.

      @@kitetales Is it possible you could look into the 'ancient dynasty' mentioned by the descriptions of the Claymen? They're the large yellow brick and pillar structures underground, Siofra River, Urd and Uhl Palace Ruins, the Grand Cloister and the Lake of Rot, and the Ancient Dynasty Mausoleum. They also appear to have been cooperative with the Ancestral Followers in the past, because they constructed the big churches and magical beacons for them, since the Ancestral Followers don't use the written word they couldn't have built them themselves.
      They're also completely seperate from the Eternal City, but beyond the Claymen and the title of Mohg's Mausoleum, they're never mentioned explicitly anywhere.

  • @kidam8438
    @kidam8438 2 года назад +3

    It seems more likely that Castle Sol was an outpost loyal to Godwyn. The eclipse shotel mentions the Prince of Death, and the 'clue ghost' right in front of it, in the chapel that you find the weapon in, mentions the soulless demigod. There's also the red carpet with the symbol of Serosh, which was Godrey's symbol, used also by troops led by the golden lineage (Godwyn, and Godrick especially.)
    Niall's equipment mentions his obsession to defend his long passed master, and all the banners in Castle Sol are of an eclipse, much like the Mausoleum knights and the symbol of the hollow in dark souls. Rather than Rykhard, the torture of the albinaurics in Castle Sol might have been to discover a way to either create or restore a soul to someone who was made hollow, like with Godwyn.
    Among Miquella's "to do list" was to help Godwyn, whose soul was killed during the night of black knives. The Golden Epitaph sword states that he wanted to help Godwyn by giving him a true death. That dedication seems to have won over some of Godwyn's followers, such as Niall, who Miquella took into confidence enough to break him off half of the key needed to reach the Haligtree.

    Will you possibly have a video on the Harpies/Bats anytime soon? Their song is so chock full of lore but I haven't seen anyone yet talk about them, and seeing how much pathos you've brought to the Albinaurics, I think a Harpy video from you would be amazing~!

    For why the albinaurics who have escaped to the liturgical town are all women, its likely the albinauric men stayed so the women could escape long before the omen killers destroyed their village. The black knives with their connection to Marika and Ranni/etc likely helped them escape to the town then, possibly around the time of the shattering of the ring.
    Edit: Its also likely that Loretta and Miquella are related to that escape since they were active till around that time.

    Just saw the description for the Ivory Sickle item, picked up next to Albus well hidden in a coffin:
    "These weapons are evidence of their dedication to the Haligtree, despite _never having entered_ its presence."
    So they were never there, and yet worship it liturgically...
    I always thought of the Albinaurics as a bit of an Icarus / Prometheus / Frankenstein story... the monstrous creation of the world's magical "science", sorcery. They were made with magic so they have innate magic, but also resented, abandoned and fought with their sorcerous masters. I never connected them to the Nox though. The Nox are such an interesting piece at the heart of this whole puzzle. Haven't quite figured them out yet...

    Here's my theory on albinaurics based on alchemy: the silver tears represent mercury. Mercury is known for its use in creating amalgams, or mixtures, represented by the albinaurics.
    In Ripley's Scroll, sulphur and mercury are mixed to create the philosopher's stone, or the rebis, a "divine hermaphrodite" representing the white queen and red king, aka Marika and Radagon.
    It's arguable that Marika once ruled the Eternal Cities from Rogier's dialogue that the Black Knife Assassins were scions from the Eternal City. Marika's title is "The Eternal" for this reason, not because she removed destined death.
    The creation of the Albinaurics had something to do with Marika's pursuit in becoming a rebis.
    This theory may be supported by the cut Asimi side quest where a silver tear inhabits your body and after you drink chalices found in Nokstella, separates and becomes a clone of you. Later you were to find Asimi again and she proclaims that she could have become "sovereign eternal", and you Elden Lord, mirroring Marika and Radagon's titles. Perhaps it was the curse the giants put on Marika which made her clone a male with red hair.
    Questions this theory answers: Why Radagon's rune-egg is accociated with rebirth, and why albinauric roughly translates to "pale-gold".
    Problems with this theory: Albinaurics are cursed by what we can only assume is the Greater Will, and the Eternal Cities were destroyed by the Greater Will for blasphemy.

      I agree. Thoughts on the altars you light to fight the ancestral spirits being the story of the Numen discovering alchemy? The 1st hieroglyph looks like ships crossing the sea. The 2nd is a people discovering the erd trees, 3rd those people studying the trees composition, 4th looks like a tome, of alchemy that they learned from studying the erd trees imo, on a pedestal (Maybe the tome is the same one the sage looking statue in the nox cities holds), 5th and last showing either a great lineage of prosperity and nobles, or the creation of the giant throned beings?

      @@existentialdandy My graphics must have been too low to notice those alters, but they could be depicting Numens! I heard a theory that there was a different ancient civilization living under the lands between even before the people of the Eternal Cities, as places like the Uld Palace ruins and the Dynasty Mausoleum have very different architecture compared to the cities. So it's difficult to determine who built the alters. As for the giants, I have no idea.

    Pidia is the guy responsible for all the spectral knights you have to get through in Cara Manor. He's using his "puppets" - the knight's physical remains - and glintstone crystals as a "prism" of sorts to focus the energy of the dead, projecting the spirits of the knights into the manor to serve as they did in life. This is why he apologises when you get to him, he's worried you're about to take your (justified) revenge. Which the knights eventually do, possibly because he reanimates their bodies accidentally. That's my take at least.

      Thank you so much, I really appreciate that and you’re so sweet for being so encouraging and supportive! I’ve been so thankful that people have enjoyed these videos and it can be a little intimidating with how much else is available to be compared against, and I think I personally tend to stay surface level rather than get too analytical but that’s just my own style of how I experience stories. So I appreciate your comment all the more! 🥰

    Love the albinaurics, their design (especially the second generation) and just the overall tone in the village and Volcano Manor really struck a chord with me when I first played. The torture victims who scream when you get close scared the hell out of me, I wasn't expecting it at all. Really loved this video, I hadn't really separated them into two distinct generations until I watched it. I hope you keep doing the "university lecture" format videos as well as the storytimes, they're equally comfy and informative.
    As a side note: A lot of people mention Mogh or the Dung Eater as being the worst "evil" characters in ER, but can we talk about how absolutely sociopathetic Gideon Ofnir is? He reminds me of a purpose-driven scientist who doesn't care about the moral implications of his experiments, he'll just do whatever he decides is necessary and never give a thought to who it hurts. His incredibly callous attitude towards his own adopted daughter and what what Seluvis has planned for her is a major hint, but the slaughter the albinauric village was just flat-out evil. I wouldn't say no to you doing a video on him at some point :P

    My theory on why the black knives are present outside the Haligtree is that they were connected to Caria by way of Ranni and to the Eternal Cities by way of their training and equipment and the goal to overthrow the Greater Will, but after the night of the black knives the ones who weren't killed or imprisoned were abandoned by Ranni since she didn't need them anymore ("Renalla" doesn't summon them), and they decided to join their distant kin at the Haligtree since they were also refugees.

  • @xappy9977
    @xappy9977 2 года назад +1

    I also think the Albinaurics originated from the Nox or share a similar creation story.
    "The features of those known as Nightfolk. Few in number, they were said to bleed silver long ago." The Nightfolk (aka. the Nox or at the very least their descendants) have shared characteristics with the Albinaurics (pale skin, unusually colored blood).
    "...the primordial drop of dew from which they are said to have been created." To me, this seems to imply a connection to the Silver Tears, commonly found in the ruins of the Nox. Silver Tears are able to imitate any lifeform, even humans. Maybe both the Nox and the Albinaurics are a product of this imitation. (A visual similarity between the two can be found in their weaponry, both the rippled weapons of the Albinaurics and the flowing weapons of the Nox are themed after water.)
    I like to believe that the Carian Royal Family had a strong connection to the Nox. (Seluvi and the Nox, for example, share knowledge about the art of creating puppets. Iji wears a mirrorhelm, a type of helm that was invented by the Nox.)
    This would also explain the possible connection between Albinaurics and the Black Knife Assassins, both having been servants of the Carian family.
    Albinaurics are also explicitly mentioned to be spurned from the grace of the Erdtree, which would make sense if their origin is connected more-so to the (Dark) Moon.
    One last thing I found peculiar is the fact that Pumpkin Heads also bleed white/silver blood.

    Great lore video! The Albinaurics are certainly an interesting race in the lands between. Albinaurics, along with the misbegotten, are shunned and stigmatised in the rule of the golden order, however since they have arcane/magical powers, the sorcerers such as the Carian royal family could have taken them in, as the Caria were once enemies and opposed both the golden order and the raya lucaria armies. When you turn right at the doorway entering Caria manor, you will find a lot more 1st generation Albinauric enemies that look like Pidia, further showing them living and serving the Carian royal family, as we can infer from talking to Pidia.
    As to why the 2nd generation Albinaurics are fighting and are hunted by sorcerers, I am guessing Rennala needs their larval tears, or their blood, to perform the endless rebirth of her younglings in her library, the proof from which is that we need a larval tear to perform a rebirth from Rennala's Amber Egg.
    From your video and other dialogue with Latenna and Albis from their village, we know that the Haligtree and Miquella is a well known refuge and provides hope for the shunned such as Albinaurics, this could be another reason why Morg wants, or even needs Miquella for the establishment of his dynasty. I think by telling the 2nd generation Albinaurics that Miquella is now at his temple, he managed to recruit many of them to join his cause. And even the patrolling Albinaurics at the Rose church look towards the church, and the Albinaurics at Morgwyn palace look to Miquella's temple with reverence.
    Those red Albinaurics with budding, omen horns might have been injected with Morg's accursed blood, much like how Varre injects our finger with Morg's blood when he anoints us as one of Morg's knights and gives us Morg's badge, our eyes also turn red once we have been injected, leading me to think that a transformation has happened to our body by taking in the accursed blood as well.
    Loretta is probably a first generation Albinauric, which could be why she is always on her horse and never falls off from it, as she has already lost function in her legs just like the other Albinauric women.

    I wonder if there is a connection between Rennala and Albinaurics. When we fight her she cannot walk herself. She is levitated by her "children". The only standing version is a projection summoned by Ranni in the second stage of the fight.
    Perhaps they were created in the image of Rennala or even by her. That would explain their magical talents, slender bodies, and sadly the weak legs.

    t feels like; no matter where you travel, from Volcano Manor, to the Mountaintop of the Giants, Albinaurics are either living or have been taken advantage of in some way by the people. I also noticed a strange connection to Mimic tears and Albinaurics. It feels like each generation of these creatures; after the fall of Nokron/Nokstella, the forces making Albinaurics haven't been able to perfect the recipe.

    This is so interesting, thankyuou for compiling these videos.
    I'll throw in my 2cents, I don't think the albinaurics lost faith in the haligtree, I think Miquella was the one they had faith in and they just followed him to Mohgwyn palace and now just like Mohg they are all waiting around for him to wake up. Maybe I'm projecting but the red albinaurics that have taken on accursed blood seem to have a renewed purpose and vigor, viciously defending their new home and suggesting maybe their idea of a savior has shifted from Miquella to Mohg. I wonder if they even helped him steal him considering the closeness of the teleporters.
    Also its interesting, Mohgs palace (himself being an omen) is a sanctuary for outcasts too yet he has no demi humans seeking him out for sanctuary while the haligtree has demi humans but no albinaurics. Makes me lean a little more towards the albinaurics being loyal to Mohg and possibly betraying the haligtree.

    Parallels between rennala and the archer albinarrics. 1. She has a wolf (red wolf of radagon). 2. she is big resting mom with a birthing object, just like the giant albinaric women you give the birthing tear to. 3. Her "sweetings" lack legs just like the first generation albinarics. 4. Latenna the albinaric's name shares rennala's "enna", and is found in lurinia, and thus likely found the birthing tear there. 5. likely a coincidence, but we never see rennala or her children walk, do they have weak legs?
    I dont really know what to make of these vague connections, and maybe its my brain playing tricks on me, but it seems intentional to me.
