Ep.4 Survival Style Beach Cooking (simple tools) - Cook Fresh Clams, Mussels in Primitive Sea Weed

  • I catch a simple ocean meal of clams, and mussels in a seaweed wrap on the beach using hand tools and primitive methods. Primitive beach cooking at it's finest. No special tools required. I use a clam rake, a shovel (not necessary), but this could really be done with just a digging stick. Lots of seaweed, rocks, and beach digging is easy. 14-Days in Maine Playlist: • 14-Days in Maine

Ah man, your kid really grew since last time I checked in on you guys. Great fun adventure on the beach too. Thanks for sharing these, I'm gonna have to check in more often. You're by far the best wilderness survival channel. So down to earth and grateful of the small stuff. 💯

To me that is a meal fit for a king. Butter clams and mussels are two of my favorite foods. I would move to Maine tomorrow if I could handle the winters. Last time I was there (1966) the winters were 40f below and way to long. I loved digging the clams with my grandfather. He dug 3 bushels to my 3/4 bushel on a tide. We ate clams for weeks on that one trip.

Beautiful location. I enjoyed this. I grew up on the coast of Maine and still live in Maine. I am unusual as my family had a large farm but Seafood; clams, lobsters, shrimp, crabs and fish, were a significant part of our diet when I was growing up.

Oh my goodness that looks so amazing and so much fun and I bet so delicious. I bet anything like clams mussels scallops lobster crabs would be so good on the seashore cooked in just seaweed really hot coals more seaweed some rocks to keep the heat in more maybe some corn and some butter with adobo would be so freaking amazing and a life-changing thing and so delicious. Thank you for showing us this, and I know Zack and Sarah have done this with showing us lobsters but the muscles that's so amazing and awesome any shellfish crustaceo thing like that I bet would be so wonderful to have on a shore like that and having the surrounding beauty of everything like that oh my goodness I can't wait and this is on my bucket list to hopefully do you someday.

Good video Chris. Looks like you guys got a lot of Mussels and Clams. Great catch by Holden on the Striper Bass! Loved the area you guys were in, very scenic. Great way to steam the Mussels and Clams! Love eating both. The butter was a nice touch! Looking forward to your next one! Take care.

Love this video! Loving seeming the ocean content, I’d absolutely love if you went spearfishing, but I know its quite expensive for all the gear and I know Zach dosent do it, but I love it so much and it’d be epic to see your experiences with it. A little tip when collecting mussels is to not pull them off their rock before you know they’re big enough to keep, just as its easier for animals that you don’t harvest to recover their population 😊😁

You have a good fam Chris. Courtney(spelling?)is adorable and a supportive lady, Holden is a good kid albeit the normal teenage attitude thing(pre 2000s version imo which is good....could be much worse(fyi im not a parent but deal with the younger generation as a manager all the time). Enjoy seeing all your content and am glad you all look like you're living a good life.

I gotta ask, why not use a shovel for the clams, like TWLC. You seemed to have crushed a lot more this time around, or did you just show it less during TWLC. Genuinely curious, either way, keep up the great work. Love seeing you and the fam have some new experiences

The rake digs easier...so maybe just need to slow down a little. Not as many clams this time to pick from, so mostly we kind of randomly got them.
