90th Annual Gymanfa Ganu
Katherine Crusi with David Enlow
Music by Richard Vaughan
Poetry by Ifan Arwyn Pleming
Silence has descended on the town
Not a sound, there’s nothing to do,
We can but remember the hustle and buzzle of yesterday
Not knowing quite what to say.
Fear creeps through the country
Like the Kite, hovering above
Stalking its pray with no warning but his dark, black shadow.
The first seeds of summer
Are waiting patiently in the earth
And the cuckoo will come to sing his two notes eventually
The Broom will blossom and crackle
Like jewels in the gorse,
And the Swallows will come nesting under the rafters
Although the night is dark
Hold tight, here’s my hand
We’ll walk through darkness
Because I know the dawn will come
We’ll offer the hand of friendship
To sustain the weary and weak,
We will forget selfishness
And we’ll all do our part.
This confinement is a chance for us all to reflect
And beat our fear and panic
And teach us to dance in the rain.
