      @@Bates1960 it's a good channel my friend, nothing wrong with it. Your video worked very well for me and yes you need quit alot of strength to do it but using your feet to press the one side of the boy definitely helps, I just about looped the end on on my own but still got there and that was with a brand new un-stressed ,out the box bow as well, so cool video mate 👍

    I just got one identical to yours. tried stringing it this way and it broke the bow it cracked. The guy on ebay that sold it to me said tough I must of pulled to hard. I am not very strong and it cracked before I even got it near to the end. Is this common I been told it is near impossible top break one by hand.

    • @Bates1960

      They need to make a aluminum version of the M48 one day. It's all plastic that's why it broke. It's better if you get an aluminum version they don't break. Cobra or M-Tech.

    I was also. The instructions on the one I got were crap. Called the “pistol 80lb crossbow” on amazon. Seems ok so far but I had to look up a few vids to see where the bits went bcuz the box shows you 3 pics. None of which you can see the order the impact block goes or the rubber padding pieces. So I was going to try this today but I just had a left hip replacement and bending over like you were wasn't working for me. So instead I put one socked foot thru the left side, under the string, while hanging my torso down as painless as possible and pinnned it to the bathroom rug. Then with my right hand I grabbed the right side of the bow and pulled that sucker in. It wasnt even that hard to pull it. I then grabbed the string with my left hand and put it on with 3 inches to spare. Took me less than 30 seconds.

      You found another different method? Couldn't do it with the sitting down mode then. Overall glad it helped out.

    • @AsDeadAsDillinger
      @AsDeadAsDillinger 3 года назад +2

      It's easier to string these crossbows if you get (or make) yourself a 'stringer'.
      It's a piece of string shaped just like a normal bowstring only an inch or two longer.
      It's lose enough to fit over the limbs easily and once fitted, just use the cocking mechanism as normal to cock the bow.
      This flexes the limbs back far enough to make fitting the bowstring easy. (You could still easily do it even if you were sick, weakened or wounded.)
      When the bowstring's fitted, then just decock or fire off the shot and remove the stringer.
      This way is not just easier but it removes the chances of overstressing the limbs when fitting new strings.
      To make a stringer, just get some paracord or string and make a copy of the shape of a normal bowstring, only make it an inch or two longer than the normal string and also make the end loops two or three times bigger than the ones on a normal string.
      Just make sure that when you're fitting the bowstring, you don't forget to feed the end loops of the string through the large loops in the stringer, otherwise you won't be able to remove the stringer once you've finished.

    • @Bates1960
      @Bates1960  3 года назад +2

      @@AsDeadAsDillinger Thanks, I didn't need to use a stringer to loop it over. I found this method on stringing the limb. You'll need some strong hands and feet to string it over. Also they don't come with instructions so assembly is on your own.

    • @Bates1960

      One goes under the limb and the other goes on top of the limb also the metal pad goes on top of the rubber pad and then you screw in tightly all together. Hope that helps.

    Hi. Just curious to know if you kept using that crossbow and most importantly if the latch used to separate the stock from the body to cock it is still intact. I've had 2 of these crossbows and that latch on top broke on both. They still fire but you have to make sure they're fully extended before firing.

      Bro in all honesty, your video was plenty enough of a visual to put it all together. The people busting your chops about your off camera movement prolly shouldn't own this weapon in the first place as it shows a lack of common sense. With that said, who's to say they won't disregard the little bit of common sense I would hope they have and go and misuse this weapon purposely and harmfully. Your video was all anyone owning this item would need. Thanks for the speedy response too. Debating on buying a second one of these Hell Hawks and I'll be right back on this video except that go I'm gonna string it by myself.
