DEFY did two things right: Starting Smosh Pit and Smosh Games and introducing Ian to Courtney and Shayne.
the whole smosh cast is just as good, people gotta stop just mentioning shayne and courtney, it’s disrespectful to the other who do just as much as them
If you think about it, Ian is one of the saviors too. For me It's so crazy to think that this guy who is seen as "childish", "carefree" "baby" and "somewhat immature" guy from Smosh would be the one who's gonna go through all the troubles just to find smosh a new home.
I mean people wouldn't even believe that he's capable in any "business related stuff", if you've watched his early videos from Smosh but now knowing the truth of what he went through behind the defy..

Well if you think about it, from the 2 founding members (Ian hecox and Anthony Padilia) while Anthony left Defy and his creation, because he felt restricted by them, Ian was the one that throughout all the process never actually lost trust and stopped caring for Smosh. He felt like this is HiS OWN creation and he had to do something to protect it.
I think that Rhett and Link made a very good decision buying Smosh.

I feel like the Defy Media thing is the best thing that could've happened. It ended an era for Smosh, but also triggered the rebirth of Smosh. Hyped for everything to come, truthfully.

Now that we heard how controlling Defy was, I understand why Anthony left. When he said that Smosh had become too much of a company or whatever, I understood, but I didn’t get why he left. Now that we got this backstory, I know why Anthony left.

I feel like Courtney really has stepped up and showed that she really wants to help and lead Smosh. The way she has talked about the whole mess during it and what she shows us now. OFC Ian is really the "father" of it all, but seeing how the Smosh crew has grown during these years really touches me somehow. Not only Courtney, but everyone.

Dude Ian is such an icon and just a father figure to Smosh. I can see why the dynamics have changed since but it all makes sense now. People make fun of Ian constantly but I know now it out of fun-loving and respect.
It’s crazy how much has changed for you guys at the point that I’m now watching this for the first time, which is after Ian and Anthony now officially own Smosh. This was nice to listen to.❤

i have a feeling shayne and court are gonna become bigger roles in smosh, they were the two that helped ian the most during the shutdown period and they are currently the ones that are starting all of it again, they are the models for the shirt promo, they are the first on the podcast, they were doing all the videos while it was down and i freking love them

Honestly beyond hyped for this more adult content, I've grown up with Smosh but more recently grew apart from the content as I've become an adult and felt that the content was being pushed in a way I could no longer enjoy. However I adore podcasts and this is largely the kind of content I consume now. I know I will totally binge this podcast and support it all the way.
