This video sums up basically everything I loved about being a teenager during that era. The music, skateboarding, breakin, baggy pants, mosh pits...all of it! The way that riff just fuckin grooves, I fucking love it! Can't believe I'm just finding out about these guys. I wish I had known about them back in the early 2000s, these dudes rock!
its like a complete copy of early Korn songs, in fact you can complete riffs beign ripped off from Korn in Internet war.....copying doesnt equal "slaying"
@@rhythmepaper Did i state somewhere they had issues with eachother? Doesnt descredit the fact that Seo Taiji straight up copied whole sections and in general emulated the sound of Korn. Even emulated the stage movement of Jonathan Davis during that era.
@@zeronine-eightyfour I didn't deny that he got inspired by Korn either. The "problem" I mentioned doesn't mean "beef". I am just saying it happened and there wasn't any issues between them. I'm just curious.
He bases his music on existing trends, but holy cow, he did actually do greatly in everything he did. It's not about being original in this case, but in being as good as possible. And no wonder why (IMO) he is still the best artist Korea has given.
kORn listed Seo Taiji as part of there inspiration as a band... Seo Taijii was the first band of any repute to put out this style of music. Korn took that style of music, put brilliant lyrics behind it and gave it popularity in the U.S. Both bands fucking rule, that's what i'm getting at.
WAAAAAAAAAH! This is awesome! Mad!!! Ah I got into Korean music late so I missed out on guys like Seo Taiji. Man there should be more hard rock bands in Korea. Or if there are some already out to those who know of any, share the info!
I did not expect this. If I met his music before then maybe I became a fan. I used to really like rock particularly japanese rock. I didnt know kmusic can offer something like this but they focus more on idol music
I fucking love this band. I’m so happy I accidentally discovered them on Napster back in 2003 when I was a kid. Check out his symphony show if you get a chance, it’s fucking unbelievable.
He was way ahead of the korea times when he was popular. In my opinion, he moved on to metal a little too quick when Korea was still into the teen bopper electro pop. He is a Korean Legend
These guys have matured so much. Their style of music has changed just the same! I remember catching this song, and this group, for the first time ever on the AZN Channel (on Comcast). I absolutely fell in love with them and followed them since then. Can't believe it's been close to 10 years from that day.
yep! ft island debuted in 2007 linkin park's first album Hybrid theory came out on october the 24th 2000 and Ultramania was released on september the 8th 2000.
I guess he was shut out of the global market like BTS. He would have given Metallica et. al a major run for their money. I can imagine Bowie loved him. This is serious roch here.
seo taiji was already metal in the 80's with sinawe, then early 90's he used hiphop as his music but regularly sampling and using heavy metal backgrounds, therefore SEOTAIJI has claimed to both musical styles, the guy changes styles from time to time, he doesn't confine himself to boundaries that's why he still kicks ass
I’m not here because of “beast” or whatever you all are talking about. I just listen to that much metal that these guys popped up lol. I absolutely dig their sound. The guitar riffs, dj mixing, bass sound, heavy cymbal and snare striking all mixed with the front mans various vocal styles makes this band suck as fuck!!!! I still can’t get over that heavy ass drop once the song starts and they’re all jamming the fuck out! Shit gives me goosebumps.
I don't care who they sound like or not sound like, regardless they have their own style and they play badass music, even if you sound like someone else, YOU need to play the music and YOU need to come up with the arrangements etc... so they deserve all the credit they get and then some... cool pants ... lol..

I incidentally found out Seo Taiji from being 12 years old in 2002 and having KaZaa (yeah, let that sink in). "KoЯn - Tank". The beautiful click-bait title for that track that exposed me to this guy. Turns out Taiji did the nu metal thing better, like a total g.
I appreciate your honesty and admitting this :) So many people don't give KoRn their respect in how much the influenced people, INCLUDING Seo, I mean look at how he dressed in this era and how KoRn dressed AND sounded in the Follow the leader era.
damn this is awesome. Korean needs more variations, not only hip-gyrating male dancers. I like some but it feels too much. I hope there's another seo taiji.. or at least, more bands come out major.
Ok Seo Tai-ji was the bass player for sinawe in 1989 they broke up in 1991. In 1992 Seo Tai-ji & Boys came out and they were a Korean pop band, the band then switched it up and started making metal/rock driven music. Seo Tai-ji & Boys then retired in 1996....Seo Tai-ji went solo and in 2000 had the nu metal and punk rock sound, His solo act had an effect on many South Korean boy bands such as H.O.T. I just had to write this cause ppl think Seo Tai-ji always sounded like this.
@MeanT241985 actually, Seo did metal work since he started music business in late 80s, not officially. he played bass guitar that day, and soon made his Taiji-boys song since 1992. so thats why 2012 is his 20 year anniversary. hope this helped. :)
@twiztidlestat He's an amazing lyricist. The media used to call him a prophet to the youth. He was considered something of a Pied Piper of the disenchanted Korean youth of the 80s/90s.
I'm just here bc Park Shin-hye's movie "the call"

I'm a brit with a korean wife and this music made my 6 years living in south Korea so much easier with the culture shock. I love Seo Taiji
I love how he mix very well all the nu metal styles as goth grunge hip hop and the visual style the same
i just watched the call on netflix and now i’m addicted to this dudes music
Literally
The Call?
Sameeee
Me too
same
we need more asian nu metal bands
I agree with you 😉
PIA & Vasslin find them...Korean nu metal
Honestly it was too shortlived yet Taiji did it so well for so few nu metal songs
Sinawe and Crash
Greyhoundz slapshock queso.. there you go
Honestly if Korea played more rock music they would slay the alternative scene
its like a complete copy of early Korn songs, in fact you can complete riffs beign ripped off from Korn in Internet war.....copying doesnt equal "slaying"
Mikaila Trinidad it has nothing to do with Korea. It’s him. He’s a musical genius. He can write any genre of music.
@@zeronine-eightyfour well seotaiji invited Korn his own music fest. They had no problem with each other.

seo taiji is legend of korean music history
Iike how he has so many levels, like he can d rap, grunge/rock, pop, indie.
Like what can't he do????

star999nine he can tho...so many of his 2010-2014 are pretty original
this was and still is one of the korea's finest songz
talent + gift + genius = seo taiji
how many times do ppl have to be reminded that KORN AND SEO TAIJI INFLUENCED EACH OTHER EQUALLY. THEY KNOW EACH OTHER.
Can we hoped that the current Music shows in Korea to play this kind of music again.. LOL

I think Seo Taiji likes Korn.
I once heard one of the musicians from KoRn actually played in some of Seo's concerts
I like too many Seo Taiji songs to have a fa. He was so influential in Korea's pop culture..I like em all!!
Very awesome! I've only heard a few of Seo Taiji's songs but they're all very good.
Dae Jang you are the best!!
No se qué decir, me encantó la canción. Maldita sea, es genial.

Kolby Kauffman my man !!!! Same I was always searching for new info on korns new albums and I came across this guy just like you did lol small world.
It's sad that the original video has less likes and view. If you could search 'SEOTAIJI - 울트라맨이야 ' you can check the original.

It was actually 89, from what I remember. He was, back then, in the rock band called "Sinawi", as a bass guitarist for about a year.
One of the best intros ever
@MeanT241985 actually, Seo did metal work since he started music business in late 80s, not officially. he played bass guitar that day, and soon made his Taiji-boys song since 1992. so thats why 2012 is his 20 year anniversary. hope this helped. :)
yeah man this was off his 6th Album. All of the songs were like this on that album. Really really good album ^^
Ah yes, this music always puts a smile on face. Never fails.
Taiji and Nell are freaking awesome.
tell me what are the songs you like *_*, I think I can help you!
:D
This came out in year 2000...20 years ago..
well I actually like every song of seo Taiji XP
I don't like one in particular or anything... I love them all lol
Awesome intro breakdown
crazy that this is the guy who started kpop lol
Woah amazing! :O
where you want me to send them * okay? :D
Love the part right after the singer walks to the mic.
