I signed petitions for years, trying to get Hall and Oates into the Hall of Fame. When I discovered they were eligible again in 2013, I voted every single day for them, and encouraged my friends to, also. The night I found out they were getting in was truly one of the happiest nights of my life.

once you're eligible aren't you eligible for good? They released man-eater in 1982, and since I know it has to be 25 years since you released your first album, they should've been eligible in 2007. Once they were eligible they should've stayed eligible, idk why they would become ineligible after being eligible but not making it.

Why would you care? It’s a ridiculous award that they didn’t care about 🤷‍♂️

They were eligible since 1997. Their first album was "Whole Oats" released in 1972.
After being snubbed for 16 years, I didn't even care anymore.

Fabulous performance and a great jazzy rendition of "I Can't Go For That."
Excellent way to spice up a performance so that it stays fresh. Darryl Hall and John Oates rock! They also look great after all these years. I think a lot of younger bands would be hard pressed to give such consistently good performances in their mid to late 60s as this duo in 2014. They still have it in 2017. I saw them with this band two months ago and they brought down the house (actually a stadium).

2014 is not 1978 … with all the live DSP tools available now, that are more than capable of hunting down feedback before it even gets a chance to squeal, if you're a sound man who can't hunt down & kill live feedback after - at worst - a quick squeal or two: you should be fired - there's just no excuse anymore.

If the sound guy can't be arsed to save the settings he doesn't deserve to be at the local dive venue let alone the rock and roll hall of fame induction show. Sadly it's all politics, look how long it took for Bob Seger and his Silver Bullet Band to get in when Bob is arguably among the top ten Rock & Roll singer songwriters of all time, and the Silver Bullet Band is also among the top, with their being one of the tightest, hardest Rockin' bands in all of Rock & Roll history! Come to think of it Rick Derringer isn't even in yet, hell he practically started Rock & Roll, plus his R & R resume is amazing!

Two of the smoothest, most polished singer/songwriters and performers in the history of rock and roll/soul. I love John Oates, but Daryl's vocal choices are so tasty yet respectful of the originals, considering he doesn't have quite the range he did 30 or 40 years ago. And Charles DeChant, who's been with them since 1976, is the perfect sax player for their style of music. Of course, LFDH has the benefit of being mixed post-recording so the sound is a little better than a HOF performance.

August 3rd, 1990 both men were clean shaven. Yep. The start of the Gulf War.
