I loved Spy Vs. Spy on the Commodore 64 when I was a kid. A friend of mine had a C64 and we played the hell out of this game. I never knew there was an NES version.
Chris I hope you see this, just rediscovered your channel after a long time. You brought so much tears of laughter & joy to me and my brother growing up. Glad to see you’re still at it bro. Looking forward to catching up on what I’ve missed & what you bring in 2025 👍
Welcome back! Thanks for the many years of entertainment. You are one of the few that stayed true to yourself and your style of videos. Every video hits with a nostalgic vibe. I truly believe you are a good person, with honest intentions, so keep it up. I wish you and the Irate community a splendid 2025.
I didn't play the NES version. The version on the C64 was a much harder challenge plus I think it was better than the NES. More levels and higher levels. Still was a good game
The C64 version of Spy Vs Spy 2 was brutal compared to the famicom port. You automatically won the entire match if you eliminated the other player. One life makes for very high stakes gameplay, and outright finishing the enemy was an option worth taking sometimes!
Actually the Mad TV show those Spy vs. Spy segments came from was the 2010s series that aired on Cartoonnetwork, I think you're confusing it with MadTV, which was an earlier series that aired on Fox.
This is great! Spy vs. Spy is truly nostalgic. Never beated it as a kid ... To bad we did not get all Spy vs. Spy games released up till the PS2/Xbox game.
I regularly visit buffets in different cities around the states. Before I go to a buffet, I will place 6 corndogs in my jacket pockets. After entering the buffet, I sneak the corndogs into some of the fried food section trays. It is such a joy for me to see other customers of the buffet eat my corndogs thinking they were part of the buffet.
Never played these ones but I freaking loved reading MAD! And I loved the MADtv segments with the spies, too. Great vid, always love seeing new content!
Searching the rooms reminded me of Who Framed Roger Rabbit on NES. At least in that came you could punch people. Great video, Chris. Is this part of Season 10, or is this the start of Season 11?
I have only played the first game. I played the game back in 2012 and enjoyed it. It was one of those games you pickup and play a couple rounds once in a blue moon.
I want to confess something here. Chris’s smash bros brawl review got my brother in trouble because we were like 10 and waaaay too young to watch videos like this ( understandably ) and I remember he got caught and I didn’t. Easily one of the best memories I have.
I've always wanted to play spy vs spy on two different TV's on nes so the other person couldn't see me setting traps 😂 game was really good though great video Chris never fails stay irate!
Sega Master System had the best version imo. It was one of the disk card slot games. It's a very fun game in 2 player mode when both players know how to play it. The computer gets too predictable in one player mode but otherwise a fun game. I gotta disagree with IG but cool video👍
Great episode! Loved "Mad Magazine" back in the day, too. The "Spy Vs. Spy" comics WERE really fun and creative, but yeah, the games were HOT GARBAGE. Speaking of which, I'm honestly surprised that you didn't review the Game Boy and/or Game Boy Color version. The former was VERY dull and boring, though the latter was at least playable, overall. Ah well, maybe in another review in the future, you can do that (if not, it's cool). Regardless, you still did a very good job on this review! The "Muttley laugh" at the end was also a nice touch.
Me too me and my brother played this a lot I think it's way better 2 player. Plus I could be wrong but I think you could also make custom timers for 2 player. It's been a while though lol
@IRATEGamer I feel sorry for all console gamers who had this back in the day... It was far more playable on Microcomputers! I had all three for my Amstrad CPC... I played the hell out of the Original game... However Island Capers and Artic Antics were even for us a bit over complicated! I will always have a Nostalgic Bone for these games... But yeah, Lets be honest, They were not great!!!
To me it was one of those games that sucked but could have been epic if more thought was put into it. I guess kind of like the board game dream phone if we are being real haha cheers Chris epic ending btw xD
@@JaredGenesis444 @JaredGenesis444 Chris, you have been told multiple times that Jared Genesis is a child predator, yet you haven't blocked him and continue to heart his comments. What is wrong with you?
I feel in 2008 again, thanks for sticking around Chris
My childhood! So glad someone finally mentions the franchise
Your channel's back! It's a Christmas miracle!
DARN RIGHT!!
Yes sir
So glad your channel is back! Muta was also worried about losing your videos, thankfully these videos are recovered!
I loved Spy Vs. Spy on the Commodore 64 when I was a kid. A friend of mine had a C64 and we played the hell out of this game. I never knew there was an NES version.
Same here, played only the C64 versións and loved them
Yeah I played the hell out of them on the Atari 800 pc. The Nintendo version was trash
Good to have you back, Irate Gamer. Merry Christmas to you and your family and friends.
Chris I hope you see this, just rediscovered your channel after a long time. You brought so much tears of laughter & joy to me and my brother growing up. Glad to see you’re still at it bro. Looking forward to catching up on what I’ve missed & what you bring in 2025 👍
Glad to hear
There are three Spy vs Spy games on the C64, I played the heck out of them back then, really fun games.
Your channel is back!
This is good news!
1:13 A small correction here is that the footage you showed was from the Cartoon Network Mad series last decade. The 90s cartoons were in MadTV.
Irate Gamer got confused
I am glad your channel is back because your honestly one of my all time favorite youtubers and your knowledge of the 80s
I played the game first and later learned that there was a comic version.
Congratulations on getting your channel back, Chris! Best Christmas present ever! 😁😁🎄🎁
Welcome back, Chris. Glad you were able to get your channel back. Merry Christmas, & hopefully the new year will be better for you.

More like he stayed true to James Rolf.
I’m glad to see you back, Chris. Merry Christmas.

ah yes i still do remember Spy vs Spy I still remember watching it back then good times
LETS GOOOOO Irategamer got his channel back
Holy Crap! This guy still exists!
Funny how the Tom and Jerry on the PS1 took the concept and did it so much better.
I played the hell out of the Sega Master System version with my brother when I was a kid. I still have fond memories of that.
Good luck with the Patreon and have a lovely and blessed Christmas, Chris!
The fact that in 2024 I'm more invested in Irate Gamer content than AVGN content is startling
😂 me too chris is great
Its weird really how for certain netizens, Irate Gamer went from being cringe to being almost a nostalgic icon.
Chris never sold out, thats what makes him better than James.
It is startling, but not for the reasons you think lol
@@JaredGenesis444They are both great and legendary

Finally!!!! Welcome back! I remember this game too
Keep up the good work Chris! Your reviews are still extremely entertaining even after all these years.
Loved playing spy vs spy on the Commodore 64 when I was kid!
I loved watching Spy vs Spy! It was such an entertaining cartoon! Love the game review! 👍🏻👍🏻
Has anyone played the Ps2 version? It's actually a hidden gem
thx for letting me know i had no idea
My friend from across the street growing up had this game. That music brings me back to playing this in his basement.
My brother and I had a copy of this game for our Commodore 64.
This is great! Spy vs. Spy is truly nostalgic. Never beated it as a kid ...

Awesome Upload on Spy vs Spy Chris I Remember watching it a lot about two Black and White Spys Fun Memories back in the day.😎👍
The timer always screwed me 😅
Scary thumbnail

There was also a Spy vs. Spy on the original Xbox. Does anyone remember it?
I had this on Gameboy first and honestly I loved it even beat it. It was slightly different but more like the island game
Mad also had two shows.
Never played these ones but I freaking loved reading MAD! And I loved the MADtv segments with the spies, too. Great vid, always love seeing new content!
What about the spy vs spy computer games?
They are the same. Nes is a conversion of...
You forgot that there was a Game boy color version of spy versus spy along with the Xbox original One of it
My uncle had this game. I'd play it with him and he'd ALWAYS beat me
You're back! That's awesome!! 🎉🎉🎉 Merry Christmas, Chris!
It's Great to see you got you're Channel back Chris Welcome Back!
6:30 Were the reviewers of these magazines paid off by Nintendo Power???
i didnt know about the sequel..cool video as usual!

Merry christmas Chris. I'm glad your channel was saved.
They also had a soda commercial.
Nice a new irate gamer! Happy day
YES! OH GOD! That hissing snicker at the end was a cherry on the cake. Chris? You're awesome. Stay awesome.
it's icing on the cake and cherry on the sundae mushmouth.
Childhood memories!
You're better than I remember. I haven't watched an episode in a long time.
Just wanted to stop by and say Merry Christmas! 🎄
I remember renting this from Blockbuster video. I think there was a Spy vs Spy show even?
The Spy vs. Spy game music always feels less like spy music and way more... _weirdly melancholic and haunting??_
I liked the game on the NES as a kid, but only in multiplayer. Wish we would have gotten the sequels.
good to see the channel back
I've always wanted to play spy vs spy on two different TV's on nes so the other person couldn't see me setting traps 😂 game was really good though great video Chris never fails stay irate!
WHo could have thought that in 2024 Chris would be out nerding the nerd
Looks like your channel is back, cool.
OMG it's back, it's a Christmas miracle!
I don't know why I read the title as "ET, Atari".
Good episode.
Irate Gamer is back, baby!
James, instead of ragging on Spy vs. Spy will you tell us when the new Rex Viper special drops?
I will never forget me and my little brother got into a fight over this game.
Why do we have blue-ray of videos we can watch on RUclips for free?
Where did you Get the soundtreck?
Ooh burgertime episode soon
Nice video, James. Glad to see AVGN is back.
wait a minute, 1st game was made in 1988 and sequel on 1987? I was paying attention
4:12 " ex-cape to freedom". it never fails, dude ate paint chips as a kid for sure.
The IG never climbed a "mowden"
Weird.

I'm normally not a fan of mad magazine but when it comes to spy vs spy it makes me laugh. Kind of looks like something warner brothers would make.
That ending!!!! 😂😂😂

Good to see you back
Will you reveiw the ps2 game please?
Sonic 1 and sonic 2 irate gamer review (from ad at beginning)
Did I miss something ?
Spy vs. Spy on NES was great with two players. Even one player was okay. Irate Gamer wouldn’t know a good game if it blew up in his face.
I have that mad just because I’m a huge ghostbusters fan
Must be in the minority, but I like this one and played it a fair bit growing up with a friend from next door.
Seems you missed the GameBoy game called "Operation Boobytrap" and the PS2 game.
Good old times
Awesome Chris! ✌
Not to be confused with Spy X Family mind you.
6:28, yeah right!
Great video thanks 👍
I'm remaking the PS2 2005 version. Should check out the PS2 version out 🙂
As bad as the first snes spy vs spy game is it sure got some great music
At least it wasn't Spy Vs Spy Operation Boobytrap on Gameboy
No, I'm fine, I'm definitely not have rage induced flashbacks, why do you ask?
IDK I always liked this game
