I was shocked when I looked up the true story of Lefty and Tony and Gerry about how close the movie was to reality, and how actually the movie might have toned some of it down.
Always been a huge fan of Mr. Bernstein. I give you a ton of credit of how you have handled yourself concerning the situation with Gunner. Integrity is number one and that is how you have carried yourself. I have read most of your books. I have some questions about Mafia Prince. I consider myself a mafia historian. But anyway thank you for your dedication and hard work you put into your craft. You could have easily been a lawyer which I believe at one point you were working towards but decided to go another direction. Your a class act brother. Take care and good luck man.
Not sure how true it is, but I heard in an interview that Tony showed up unannounced to Accardo's California home and more or less demanded that he be given the position/title of Boss and or Front Boss and JB not long after approved the hit. Again, not sure if any of that is true but pissing off Accardo was a death sentence

Pretty interesting Nicky Scarfo and John Gotti serving time at the same time in Marion. I read they disliked one another for many reasons. Gotti took Scarfo down as boss and obviously Joey M had something to do with that by allegedly shooting Nicky Jr. also when on the streets Scarfo Sr aligned himself with Chin and chin naming him boss. Don't forget NYC/5 Families, Buffalo, Philly/Pittsburgh/Scranton, etc by way of Russell Buffalino, Trafficante in Tampa got a cut, Marcello in New Orleans got a cut. The casinos were divided among the most powerful families in the country. I believe Lansky got a cut as well.

Tony spilotro was just technically a soldier but informally a crew boss?... there are wiretaps of allen dorfman in which the transcripts and the audio are discussed by former Kansas City police detective Gary Jenkins who was involved in the actual Casino skim investigation on his website gangland wire . On those wiretaps alendorfman said Tony Spilotro was at the top of the hierarchy before he moved to Las Vegas and was Joey aiuppa s next in line . Now people could believe the word of a man that was close to the very top bosses and in control of a billion dollar pension fund or the word of a man that was a $40,000 a year Hitman from Chinatown who was never near the upper echelon his whole career. There are Google Images of Tony spilotro's younger brother Michael who was allegedly not made on hunting trips with Joey aiuppa in Mexico. There are also surveillance reports of Tony Spilotro meeting with Tony Accardo at Lacoste to Health Spa in Southern California with the head of the whole Teamsters Frank Fitzsimmons.

Actually, I believe that Joe Watts who was a German was one of Gotti Sr’s main guys so NY did have nonItalians in high positions.

Just curious what your thoughts are on The last trial of John Gotti, when king rat Gravano turned. Basically Judge Glasser denied Gotti and Frankie Loc , oh yeah also king rat before he flipped, their lawyer’s. So this isn’t the platform but so many questionable decisions to turn the tables against Gotti and Frankie Loc. It eventually came out Gravano knew Frankie had nothing to do with Paul C murder. At that point he wasn’t on the Gambino administration. Idk man . Gotti clearly made a lot of mistakes as boss but it’s my opinion Mr. Gotti knew it was coming to an end and just said f($@ it.
