Just want to let everyone know that I will be doing more SV tutorials soon! I have said this on my Twitter, so to stay up to date please follow me @tomjmccoyy! Thumbs up this comment, so all can see!
ItzHydra when someone says that it implies its a fact. Also usind disabilities as an insult is rude I don't really know what you're on about or why you're mad enough to call me mentally disabled. You're the one being the idiotic degenerate here.
@ 4:47 ... To apply the same fade to several clips at once: Click the first clip, hold shift, click the last clip, release shift - this selects all Then fade any one of the selected clips and the fade will be applied to all the selected clips at the same time. Saves having to do each one individually To do the same thing with several clips out of sequence, just follow the above but hold Ctrl for each selected clip instead of shift.
+Sal Frank I can select all the clips that way, but when I apply the fade, only the one I am doing it on has the effect, even though the rest are selected.
+Screamskull I'm using Vegas 13 64bit build 453. I just did it on a vid yesterday, so I know it works. One thing is that when trying to grab the edge of a clip to apply a fade, it's often tricky to grab the edge of the clip (waiting for the cursor to change to the little grab icon), and it's easy to accidentally click that single clip alone, deselecting the other clips. But I know it works on Veg 13
You can right-click over a clip and select copy and then right-click over another clip and select "paste event attributes" and it will paste all the edits from the prior clip to the newest clip. That way you won't have to keep adding the same effects to each individual clip. Great Tutorial. Are the Cinematic Bars Optional?
I love your videos man, I like how you show what this video is about in the beginning and after that you explain, thats nice! Keep up your awesome work
If I'm not mistaken, you can actually select (by pressing ctrl+clicking on all cut sections) all the two frame solid colors you cut by pressing S, and just change the fade-out on the first one and it will copy the fade-out to all the other ones! Saves you some time.
edits in the beginning are great. shows tutorial quality without having to skip to the end. you should post a vid about how you would approach doing a full music vid.
Thanks Tom. Very helpful. Just a little tip to save some time for you. Copy the first 2-frame clip and Paste Repeat(Ctrl+B). It saves lots of time. It's been three years, though. Don't know if you know that already.
I realy enjoy watching your videos bro, they are a little bit long but realy well explained. This is what makes great tutorials :D Keep up your awsome work.
I think you know SHIFT+B when you select a video in timeline , that will be pre rendered to view in full hd ( temporary render in RAM ) .. to view your result in display screen without real render :) good tutorial , good job :D
I'm not trying to really disrespect your ways. I really do admire the simplicity. Just saying you can use the levels video effect, and then key frame the output. I just wanted to help you out so that it wouldn't make you do so much work, which in turn it allows you to edit faster.
A tip if you hate dragging the fade thing over all the clips. Just click the first 2 frames, then shift click the last one and then drag the fade over. Alot easier. Hope it made sense lol
Thanks man! This helped me out by one of my videos! i gave you credits in that video! dinddt know u can do thinks like this in sony vegas :) Keep up the good work!
You are the man, thanks... This video was a BIG help, I've searched for a way to make fast black flashes in a while! Back in April I was working on a promo video for the "Mayweather & Pacquiao" fight, and at the end I really wanted to use a fast black flash effect like this, but I couldn't find any help on google, so I had to find a way myself - I just made a black picture in Paint, and saved it as a 1280x720 scaled.PNG file... I pasted it into an empty timeline above my project, and dragged it to the time-Spot I wanted it.. After every 3nd frames, I cutted 2 off --> I kept doin' that till it fit the clip lenght. (Sorry My English) I guess it sounds confusing, and as a rookie solution.... - But the result was pretty awesome actually! (MUCH Better than expected) Here's the link if you would like to check it out ruclips.net/video/75vtJgPSYjs/видео.html
***** Yes but your video is already 9 minutes long, and he was just making a suggestion not demanding anything, that's why he started with "just a tip"
Thank you for the tutorial. I'm a newbie when it comes to making videos, and I found these tutorials really helpful. I make rugby league highlights videos and I will definitely try these out. Would you ever be able to make a tutorial on a blast wave effect?
Great vid. When I playback my video the flicker effect works great. But, when I render a video it does not play back ( its all black). I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks for the tutorial man, it's kind of weird though that you do tutorials on Vegas, yet you don't edit your tutorials to edit out long "Um's" or stretches of silence. Just some feedback, but thanks for the tutorial really helped!
When you said that it wasn't your cat I laugh so hard😂 also when you said that If you make it to fast/slow/whatever you just look dumb... I almost died😂 // love this tutorial❤️
if you click the first clip (of the black) and then hold shift and click the last one, so you have them all selected, you can drag the fade and it will do it to all of them

ItzHydra Also how do you know its not literal. I guess we have TWO smartasses here.

Thanks this really helped, ive made a really good video that will be up later. Thanks again.
how far should you space it out if you're playing back at 30FPS? i tried this and it works at 60FPS but not 30 :(
