  • It's a pretty unique concept in boating - a bare hull that's ready to accept and or all factory upgrades as funds and boating preference allow. That's what Seachange Boating's SCBX hull system is designed to do.
Built by Haines Signature in Brisbane and retailed either direct or through various account partners, you can buy from your local dealer or direct through the website.
We got to test 4 versions of the SCBX hull - from the "bare-ass" fitted with a cheap, second hand two-stroke and a second hand trailer through to a fully kitted out sportsfishing machine.
Hear from the Seachange Boating team explaining the concept and Steve Morgan takes a few for a ride.

Great concept. The 485 is well known to be a brilliant hull. Would love to see them drop a larger hull into the lineup.

For sure - even if they made this one with more freeboard I'd consider it for light offshore work

I’d like to see a bigger model with higher sides for more offshore ability.
Something similar to a sportsman island reef19.
These ones would make great estuary/impoundment boats

      That would be perfect

That's exactly what these are - inshore boats. We are sure if their concept takes off there will be other hulls introduced to the range.

@Steve Morgan (3:52) not all Chinese made stuff is "rubbish", there's heaps of locally and imported fibreglass hulls and accessories from other countries that's equally deserved of that comment! Soon the Chinese will produce a better quality product and ship it to Australia at half the cost! Look at Japan and how far their marine products have come!

Correct, although there is that perception in the marketplace for plenty of poorly made boating accessories.

Like most options, we're sure that there is an upgrade to solve the problem!

definitely needs higher sides and use a 25 inch prop for a tiller.

Much better option than a tinny.

IMO a used boat at this price point is a better option + get higher sides on the boat. BTW the bean bag for $250..........I want what they are smokin. If people will pay that then hats off.

You said cheap Chinese rubbish? I agree with some of the products from China is not good, but please also look at the price, the cheap products is for the one who don't want to pay that much, and to satisfy the different buyers from the market. Please change the interviewer if you want people believe in your review/report.

Omfg, 12k for a tinny with no seat or engine. Sorry guys, what market are you aiming for ? If the boat was maybe 3k then had add ons I could understand. But if someone really wanted a high end tinny, why would they buy an overpriced under specification plastic tinny then have to spend thousands more just so it was functional? Would they just buy an actual boat for the same price ? Your business model doesn't make sense, but I wish you all the best 👌

I think the pricing is more than reasonable, considering a 4.6 mt tinny with a 60 HP is in the 25 - 30 k range.

Name a brand new 4.7-4.9m tinny hull you can buy for 3k?
Hint: there is none. They start at the same price bare hull.....
