Etchr Lab but I’m okay with this. If getting carried away with the script is wrong, I don’t want to be right 😂

I would so love to have one to show all my disable viewers on my art for therapy utube channels. I understand the price reflects this premier product, but it is just out of my price range. Good luck with this wonderful perfect artists companion. BunnyDesigns :)

Hi, the music is so distracting. It's louder than the talking/explanations. Had to switch off halfway because I couldn't understand what he was saying.

Can't wait!!!! When I get it, I'm not gonna let it out of my body :p (Gonna create a sleep mode too)

    Music, it was pretty chill
Edit: could I get a link to the song? I want to listen to this when I get my satchel and field case.

Excellent! I saw an image of the Field Case kinda "side car" style. How do I make that happen?
(Music is a little too loud in places, but great vid!)

    • @EtchrLab
      @EtchrLab  7 лет назад +1

Glad you asked. I like "Sidecar" maybe that's the name we'll adopt for that carry style :) so basically you can thread the velcro straps on the back of the Field Case through the molle under the front flap of the Art Satchel - a bit like weaving something. Does that make sense?

This is going to be a little bit funky to word but is it possible to have the shoulder straps set up in such a way that I may put a 13 Inch Wacom MSP on the top half of supported easel mod 5:48 and a keyboard on the bottom half and not have it fall out of my lap like a top heavy laptop? Will it work, instead, in study mode?
Seems like such a bizarre use case but the software I use has so many shortcuts that I need instant access to a keyboard at all times and there are no folding case covers with integrated keyboards for such a massive tablet.
    Thanks

Hi @ultraindigo! Considering we have not tested our satchel for the specific use you are suggesting, we cannot guarantee that it would work. However, it is likely that it could if it is in easel mode assuming you secure the shoulder strap to the top half of the satchel so that when you wear it doesn't fall on your lap.

@@EtchrLab I bought it a couple of weeks ago and sure enough, it works! I am a little tepid over how hard I had to force it into the the corner straps but they, and the velcro, seem to be holding sturdy.

I want one of these so badly, but I have only one issue: I'M SO EXTRA. So, my main sketchbook that I ALWAYS get is this XL Mixed Media sketchbook, and the dimensions are 11inx14in. I'm relatively certain it would fit in the bag (somehow) since the bag's dimensions are 13inx16in, but the website says the work station's dimensions are 9.9inx14.9in. Now, that's not too much at all, but I know it's going to bug me if I get the bag XD Maybe I should just stop carrying around such big sketchbooks.
P.S. I am going to drop some hard hints to my family members that I want this for Christmas XD Hopefully it works!

Any recommendation for a good (not too pricey) tripod? The one I have just broke under the weight and I didn't even had any heavy things in it. I wouldn't dare to use my Cintiq in that very unstably laptop mode.

Hi there! I've got a really long-winded answer to this one from Darren:
So I can 100% stand behind Manfrotto products, I own three of them - two photography ones and one for video/filming, and they range between US$200 - US$1,000.
      They're all top quality and there's a reason they're a market leader.
I would actually suggest going into a camera store instead of a general goods store - you get more range and better expertise.
You can often buy the head (the thing your camera or Etchr Art Satchel will attach to) and the tripod (the telescopic legs) separately.
For the tripod legs, the ones with heavier build aluminium legs are way more rigid and sturdy than the lighter build aluminium legs, which are built to be lighter and more portable, but also more prone to movement.
If your bag (particularly the Art Satchel) is loaded up, lightweight aluminium is going to be more prone to tipping over - whereas the extra ballast from the heavier builds, will aid stability, even if they are a bit more of a pain to haul around.
It's really up to you to decide what is more important - stability or mobility, there is no perfect solution for everyone.
The next thing you want to look at is that head, this is what actually attaches to the Etchr tripod attachment plate.
There are a few different types of heads, but the ones you'll probably be most presented with are ball-heads and three way / axis heads.
My advice is to generally ignore the ball heads, they're ok for cameras but they can sometimes move a little when you're working on them, particularly if you're using a fully packed Art Satchel as opposed to a Slate.
3 way / axis heads allow you to lock in all 3 axis, so it's much more capable overall, but it means there is more mechanisms, which adds heft and weight which is where ball-heads come out ahead. Again, ball-heads are generally not-as-good for our bags but feel free to test in-store to see which is your best bet.
Also, most tripods come with them nowadays but look for a a spring loaded quick release plate on the head. You don't want a fiddly mechanism to deal with, it's painful.
If you can stretch your budget - one of these would be great:

If not, you could probably get away with this:

Gilmec my expensive monfrotto fell apart. The entire head came out. Monfrotto did nothing and several ppl told me this happened to them also. The other thing is that the monfrotto is too heavy to carry

Hi, I recently ordered an art satchel and upon its arrival, I cannot seem to locate the little straps used for supported easel mode, demonstrated at 5:47. I'm honestly not sure if the bag even came with them.

Too heavy for 1/4 x 20 tripod mount, a heavy duty tripod is a MUST for this pack. Cumbersome strapping/cord attachment procedures for slings and sketchbook(s), cords can get tangled and/or lost. Orientation of straps for right vs left is confusing and difficult to remember (need instruction sheet). I highly recommend running through all the configurations you plan to use PRIOR to actual outdoor use. Give yourself 45 mins to figure out set up and another 45 mins to figure out where you will be storing art supplies, accessing them in the field and disassembly (especially with watercolors). I suggest a stable, Manfrotto-quality ($$) tripod is necessary to use this as an easel.
Quality of construction/materials used are first rate, but add to the overall weight of the pack/easel. If you like buying and experimenting with “art” supplies, and can afford too, get one. 3⭐️ out of 5.

I had to turn sound off and activate closed caption to get anything out of this video. The music is very annoying, particularly for those of us with poor hearing. Otherwise the content is helpful. Please release a version without the music!

The pocket in wich to insert the tripod attachment plate is too narrow! We almost could not fit it in. Just make the zip 5 millimetets longer, that would make a differrnce!
