We have a great community, and I received a load of comments which I great appreciate and want to express my Thank you to all
Gday Chuck, I’m glad you got this sorted, the YT community is absolutely fantastic mate, cheers
Until the other day I didn't even know 3c existed much less 3at. Learn something all the time!
Congratulations Chuck. I haven’t seen 3AT collets in such a long time (40 years, maybe?) that I didn’t even think of them. This is the best solution, happily.
Hello Chuck. Glad to hear you have found the root cause of the problem. All the best from Mart in England.
Great outcome ! Your back in business 👍
Glad you got it figured out. Now the quest to acquire some of those collets.
Chuck, always great content on your channel...Paul in Florida
Supper, great to have other creators with hidden knowledge 😁
🤣😂🤣🤣😂 I have a box of 3AT collets I bought from Andy at one of the meetups. I have 12 of them in the box. You can have them if you want. I have a full set of 3C collets, that's what the Ellis dividing heads use.
There are so many different tapers it is hard to keep track. Some of the tapers are very close to others. Glad you got it resolved without major spindle surgery.
*_Glad I could help. I knew it was the atc 3bat141bc._*
Good deal Chuck Flee Market Dave saves the day he is a great guy.
Great news Chuck.
Isn't always the simplest answer that saves the day!
Well, that’s a curveball. Very interesting, glad you got it figured out!
Way to go Chuck. Thanks for the video keep on keeping on.
Great to hear you Harold, kindest regards from Bonnie Scotland. Joe.
I’m glad to hear you finally found your solution
Well Done Chuck and a great piece of luck finding them.
So glad you got it
Everybody loves a simple fix!
thanks for viewing and your supportive comment...
Get Grandma to Crochet that saying to hang on the wall "If at first you don't succeed, get the right collets!"
Outstanding information. Thanks for getting back with us Chuck.
I always say, the good Lord puts who you need and what you need where you need it when you need it.
Great!!! 😊
Glad to hear it!
Grand tool supply Teterboro NJ. May still have them. Cheers Zed
thanks for the lead Zed, yes they have them listed $26 each, I got 6 coming from Ebay for $75 total
@@outsidescrewball your welcome they have alot of hard to find stuff mostly from Europe.
Couldn't ask for an easier solution than that!
That's very good news.
Glad to hear you got it.
Ah! Awesome!
That will do it!
Great news
cool
I had the opposite issue, I needed 3c collets for my logan lathe and got 3at collets instead by mistake.
Machinery's Handbook, at least #25, has a very complete table of collets. I have a couple of South Bend 9's. 1A and 3C collets fit (same dimensions, except 3C 0.125" longer). Seems that SB guys would have your problem in reverse, their 3AT collets weren't working, 'cause their collet adapters were 3C!
my handbook is #22, couldn’t find it, but maybe it’s me….thanks for viewing and commenting
@@outsidescrewball My #11 also has three pages of collets, but good luck on the identities. 1C, 2C, 3C, 4C, 5C are Cataract, then there's Hendey's LeBlond, Pratt & Whitney, etc. Great if you have pre WW2 machines!
That’s interesting, we have the same machine and it is MT 3.
thanks for viewing, can I ask where are you located? Do you use the vertical head mostly or the horizontal, do you have any of the other accessories
Oregon, mostly horizontal. Is your horizontal spindle MT-3? My guess is someone replaced your vertical spindle?@@outsidescrewball
yes,the horizontal is MT3
Where can I get that collet document? Great info to have on hand.

@@outsidescrewball Can't thank you enough Chuck. I have an old Atlas 10" lathe and a old Southbend 9", I have to deal with both. Some of the collets don't have marking on them anymore. This will REALLY help! As a point of reference, I always though the AT was for Atlas? Might be wrong on that but helos me keep track of which is which.. :)
@@bradjohnson9671Your Atlas and Southbend more than likely both have 3MT internal spindle taper.
there is an old website calld shopswarf that you can only find now through internet archive. he has dimensions on a lot of these wacky collets.
