    I never knew what happened to the Bonnie Prince after he left sky, I did a project at school about him but was told he died in France 🇫🇷. Does he have a grave you can visit? I myself am of Scottish/Italian decent and would like to see where he's buried, if possible. Maybe he had a poppers grave or did Charlotte make sure her father got a good send off? It would be interesting to find out as I can't seem to find any record of his burial.

    Right now I'm only on season 2 of Outlander (I know I'm way behind LOL) I find the Bonnie Prince Charlie to be rather interesting character. He's passionate about his cause and yet so immature. He had no sense of reality. I feel bad for those who followed him to their own destruction. To his credit he must have been one hell of a talker as the show seems to point out. On a side note Did he actually say "Mark me" all the time? It's funny how he would stake his credibility on something he really could not guarantee.

    • @gordonsscotland8441
      @gordonsscotland8441  3 года назад +1

      Yes, Doug, I think a lot of people who followed their hearts instead of their heads in joining his cause, later suffered greatly, which was a great shame. I had never heard any mention of the 'Mark me' comment in relation to him, but it may be true! Kind regards, Gordon

      Come on mate get a grip Outlander IS NOT a documentary. The wee Italian was sent by Rome to try to put a catholic back on the throne, nothing more. The rebellion was about religion more than anything else.

      I appreciate your question; even historical fiction includes some facts, which of course doesn't make it a documentary, but does give additional interest.
      I think the frequent repetition of "mark me" in the show was to make the "Bonnie Prince" seem more annoying, and perhaps to be a drinking game for viewers. 😉 Though having a shot of whisky each time "mark me" is said might result in the whisky drinker winding up flat-on-their-face drunk! 😂

      Indeed he is. He is buried in St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican in Rome, alongside his Father, Mother and Brother. Charles' brother, Henry, was a Cardinal who refused to lay claim to the thrones of Britain & Ireland after Charles' death. He remains (I think) one of the longest-serving Cardinals in the Roman Catholic Church.

      It’s not clear what he did regarding his faith. He only renounced the Catholic faith as he thought this would allow him to try once again to seize the throne of Britain. But obviously this did not happen.
      It did not appear to me that faith played a large part in his life, certainly the latter part where he often became drunk and abusive.
