35:00 We had that issue in our games as well, all the way through the beta. We ended up building a mansion base on top of one of the large rocks next to the garden area by the pond. The ants couldn't climb the rock straight up to hit our stuff, but they would congregate on the ground below our storage. We just made spike traps and they would mindlessly kill themselves trying to look at our storage lol
The ants stealing food or destroying things on their way to get the foods is kinda cool. Sure players will struggle but still that's kinda realistic for ant behavior.
Hey Glock9! I recommend building on the Lily pads by the tree if you want to avoid the ant problem! I'll just copy and paste what I told someone else... I recommend building your base on the Lily pads! Ants can't get to you-- Actually, pretty much NO bugs can get to you (Unless they are aggro, they can hop to your base). It's a really nice base spot! There are tons of grubs for food, if you want more food then just go to the garden light post thingy at night and you'll find a ton of gnats. For water, there is a juice box directly besides the main Lily pads, so just build a water storage container thingy. *Downsides:* -There are 3-4 Wolf spiders that roam the area (they can't get to your base unless they are aggro, if that's the case, just jump into the water to lose aggro). - There is grass near by, you just have to walk a bit. - There are a lot of orb weavers by the wood fences. - [REDACTED SPOILER] That's all I can really think of... *Benefits:* - Easy access to food and water. - Safety against most bugs (The fish and water creatures don't attack Lily pads). - Close to Burg.l and research stations. - Acorns = decent starter armor. - Plenty of room for safe building! Hope this helps!
@@metalrockgaming I did not have a problem with the ants putting them on the half floor.....until today....fuckers took all their eggs back lol. I guess I was just getting lucky up until then.
Yes were back in the garden! I too have just got back into game so looking forward to exploring the garden with ya! One Piece of advice for ya there's a big stone next to the machine you can build your base on top of there and that will stop pesky ants out of your chests ( i would advise getting some clay and getting the foundation blueprint) also the slippers give extra speed good for hit and run exploring, any way have fun cannot wait till next friday!! :)
Hey G9, You can use your peep option to place markers too I loved the first series and I'm so glad you are revisiting it, you're my favorite gaming RUclipsr. Keep up the great work man!
I generally make my first base on the baseball. Then later I build in the hedge, there is a nice cave that has the rotten ant club and that is where I built. Thanks for all the content Glock! One of my favorite creators 😁
Your original Grounded videos are where I first started watching you, so now we've come full circle. I think the increased threat from the acorn armor is so when you're playing multiplayer the person with the heavy armor can tank and hold aggro from other players.
Also, here is a tip, if you want, only because there is a draw back. There is a chemical fog you can stop and get rid of. But, if you do, the insects get a hell of a lot harder, on the entire map. Found that out the hard way. Thanks for the vids and entertainment!
Glad to see a return to Grounded. Looking forward to the full playthrough. The game audio is a bit too low, though, compared to your commentary audio. I can barely hear the game, especially when you're talking, and if I turn it up too loud, I get Glock9 in my ear at max volume! lol
I'm playing this game with friends and after 80hrs, still loving it. We're gearing up and improving our base and setting up zip lines and fighting the harder stuff now. There's SO much they could add to this game for DLC's and stuff, and I'm all for it. I'd gladly pay for more DLC that expands and adds to what is currently here. Ever since HISTK's, I've wanted to play a game like this, and this game def scratches that itch very well. Love it! I'll even be going back and playing the game solo on the hardest difficulty also to see all the stuff I missed when the other 3 discovered things.
Ants and storage. Consider making a minimum 3x3 floor and wall. (5x5 is a good size I find). Place workshop in center of wall. Add shelves. Cram as many large storage boxes onto shelves surrounding workbench. The workbench will pull from storage as long as resources are nearby. And for Pete’s sake, get your storage off the ground 😅. Build walls to block ants from getting under. Once your storage/workshop room is elevated, consider spike traps around this workshop/storage unit. 👍. And, by the way, wolf spiders DO patrol the machine. Careful. Looking forward to the next video! 🎉
I haven’t seen your content in ages. I used to watch your 7 days to die gameplay religiously. Don’t really know what happened but grounded is absolutely 🔥 and glad to see your content again.
I had no problems with ants raiding my storages as long as there was no food in them. And when I did build a base which had storages with food in em, you put it somewhere high that ants can't reach. By that I mean on top of a twig or rock, NOT a tall building. Few things they've changed that're useful. 1)You'll need the red ant club before you can go after ladybugs and spiders. They changed things so you can't just stand above them and snipe them from afar. 2)workbench and etc can take items from storage and 3) "N" hot deposits resources to all surrounding storages with items of that type.
Ohh I've been playing this game since early beta! I would LOVE to see a Glock series on it but I don't want to spoil the full version. So... GL, I will come by just to upvote, and watch it after I am done =). Have fun!
im SO glad this series is here! youre what got me into grounded wayyyy back in prerelease, and im so glad youre making a series now that the game is fully out!!!!
Intro music reminds me of Stranger Things intro music. Glad to see you play this. I haven't touched it yet but watched lots of it. Also, I think there is a tooth in the base where you found the raw science in the biometric room where you pick up science. Its hidden in a dark corner. Helps with mutations I think. Needs a hammer to break it down so you can get at the shiny core.
I haven't played this since it first released on Game Pass. I bought it and kinda forgot about it. It's great to see it's being finished and fully realized. I'm definitely going to pick this back up!
Yes. I was waiting for this series. I love the 80's feel of the game, too. I sometimes forget we are close in age. You remind me of a friend I once had, also from NJ, and moved to Pa. Though it was NE Pa in Susquehanna County, a couple hours away from you now. Anyways, can't wait to see you discover all the new stuff. I'll give ya two simple non-spoiler tips. 1. Some things are easier in third person. 2. It's like Conan, time your guard/block. Good luck bro.
Excited to watch your playthrough of this now it's in full release. It was Mr Dreamy's birthday this week and I was considering it as a belated gift for him (and of course then I would be compelled to buy it for myself, solidarity and all that jazz) :D
yo Glock! in my playthrough, i built my first base on top of the baseball. no ants ever could get up there. something to think about. Cheers from Killadelphia!
hey Glock9 thx for the video i played this on xbox when it was just coming out i built my base encompassing the light by the oak tree nice and elevated and plenty of bugs at night plus you can see it anywehere oin the map just about.
I’m sure you know but if you don’t, there is a tape recording (the ones you collect) in the center part of the mysterious machine. Also great content love this game so much and can’t wait to see the future content for this game. (Yes I know they literally just updated the game like a a week ago😅)
It's been a while since I played so correct me if I'm wrong, but when I last played the game putting your cooking spits and storage on a half-floor supported by a half-wall on either side on the ground prevents ants from being able to path to them.
So I just found out a new tip and tried it out my self and it works! If you build the water storage unit under a juice box straw when it drops it will be collected!
If anyone is looking for an easy source of food grab some mushrooms. Throw them on the ground and just wait a bit. The weevels are attracted to the mushrooms and will just keep coming. Once they start showing up its really easy to grab lots of their meat and if you dont want them anymore then just pick up the mushrooms
For building, you don't actually have to have the grass in hand. You just hit craft and you can place building pieces. Once you place your piece, you can then add any materials it requires.
Finally, I was wondering when this was going to come out, got my first lp episode going up in the morning myself. I too noticed a few "bugs" that were there pre release, but hopefully they'll update them out of existance in the near future.
The pallets for grass planks and stems are hugely helpful for builders - not sure if they had those when you first played, but it will prevent stuff from despawning on you if you're trying to grind out some resources. :D
