    The key concept is this idea from Physics called latent heat when a substance changes state.This took me ages to grasp the idea that say liguid water at 1atm will stay at 100 deg C while boiling yet heat is constantly going in while this phase change is occuring is quite counter intuitive . The reverse is suprising as well water vapour condensing to liguid state heat will leave the gas without reducing the temperature of the water vapour gas as the heat flows into the surrounding cooler environment. Producing liguid water.

    With all due respect to the gentlemen teaching this class, I would suggest you use simple terms and examples. As a retired engineer, the professor who taught this subject years ago used water as the chosen refrigerant. All can relate to the boiling of water and visualize the change of state to water vapor. A further explanation of boiling water in a closed loop system is then the only way to created super heat.
    Just my humble suggestion. As always, a great presentation

    Hello. Is "sub-cooled" refrigerant any refrigerant that is not in "superheat" state? Like is superheat a name for "vaporized refrigerant" and subcooled is another name for "liquid state refrigerant" could I think of it this way? or is it a mistake to think that way? Or does subcooling only entail the distance from the metering device into the evaporator coil until refrigerant flashes up into a vapor state superheat? Thank you.

    Is the refrigerant flow direction correct on the slide around 6:45? I would think the evaporator transfer the cold from the line, so it would return warm/hot to the outside unit? I am just starting learning.

    So is the hot air outside allowing the condenser to warm up the refrigerant and turn it into a liquid im not sure I’m confused lol

    • @Redtooth75
      @Redtooth75 Год назад

      The refrigerant is at a higher temperature than the outside air so the air cools the refrigerant because heat moves from hot to cold. Something must release heat in order to condense as a liquid is a lower energy state than a vapor. The outside air is cooling the refrigerant so it can condense into a vapor.
      What really helped it make sense to me is when I realized that heat is related but is not the same thing as temperature. Heat is energy, temperature is the intensity of that energy. I like to think of temperature as the density or concentration of heat. The terms hot and cold refer to temperature, not heat. The compressor pressurizes the refrigerant which increases the temperature. It does not significantly change the amount of heat in the refrigerant, it just forces it into a smaller area which increases its concentration (temperature). And since heat moves from high temperature to low temperature the air will cool the refrigerant therefore increasing the heat in the ambient air but decreasing the heat in the refrigerant. The condenser allows for effective heat transfer from the refrigerant to the ambient air.
      The opposite occurs at the metering device and evaporator. The metering device depressurizes the refrigerant, same amount of heat just in a larger are so the concentration (temperature) is decreased. Now the refrigerant is colder than the inside air and so heat will flow from the inside air to the refrigerant. This cools off the air but heats up the refrigerant, the evaporator helps this process. An air conditioner does not "create" cold, it moves heat by cleverly changing the temperature so heat moves in the direction we want.

    Wasn't as clear as I'd have hoped but I persevered... watching it a few times.
    I noticed you throw in incidental information which is good info but also detracts from the overall progress of your explanation. Having notes or putting up a list of things to go through in correct ORDER may help this apparently random collection of useful information.
    I had to go outside your explanation to find out the terms subcooling superheat and saturated. I also note that the best piece of information you gave in the whole video was that we actually are interested vin temperature at the Centre of the two coils, but it's hard to access, so we gather that from the pressure readings on the lineset and convert to temperature. That is what made me understand..
    Not trying to be overly critical bit the extras you put in are detracting from what you are trying to convey overall. Things like whether it's a tx valve or not and which is more efficient ..is good information but it sidetracked your flow of information and that loses our concentration.

Compete against the bigger companies as you can undercut them and still make a good living. $80,000.00 to $90,000.00 is not an unusually high salary for what I have described

    Please remake without the mask. It is very distracting for Floridians who were immune from the covid plandemic.

      Believe me, I get it!! The sad part was this was actually a college in Florida and they wouldn't let me teach without one at this early part of that pandemic.

      Ha ha, yeah so this was at a college I visited so they wouldn't let me teach without one at the time of this video. All other videos are maskless!
