1983 was won by Lancia with their 037. Making it the last rear wheel drive car that won the WRC

I've loved the WRC since I was little and the one thing I've learned is, if you are named Sebastian... Just jump in a car and you will become an instant driving God.
Seb Leob was unbelievable! 9 years on the trot and he made it look effortless. Then along came Seb Ogier, who is still a dominant for in the WRC today.

1989 Lancia Delta (the photo is the 1992 Delta Integrale HF)

1977 is when they started awarding the drivers, but 1973 is when the WRC actually started.
To be fair the first official drivers champion was Björn Waldegard in 1979. Before that the title was inofficial and inofficial Rallyes also counted towards the championship. otherwise Munari wouldn't have been champion in 1977
Mitsubishi was out there winning rally's and paris dakar at the same time... Underrated brand.

One thing, 1982 it was Audi Quattro that won. As a result in 1983, Lancia released 037 and did a lot to bend the rules and deliver one of the greatest motorsport duels in history, at the same time winning the championship. Then in 1984 Audi won again.
1982 Audi won constructors, Rohrl won the drivers championship in an Opel. 1983 Lancia won the constructors, Hannu Mikkola won drivers in a quattro.

1983 winner is lancia 037 NOT Audi, it's was the last RWD car to win a title beating AWD car.

1995 ahh my favorite one.
昔はラリーに勝てる車を投入していたのに対し、今は売りたいホットハッチバック車をラリーに投入している印象が強かったけど、GRヤリスは少し違うし良い傾向だと思う。
基本的にレギュレーションと空力の関係でベース車両が変わってます。
ただ昔の方がベース車両に対する規定が厳しく、そのために車両を開発していたのは間違いありませんね。(ホモロゲモデルとか
GRヤリスがそういった昔のホモロゲモデルに近い開発体制なので、トヨタ=WRCというイメージの強い欧州でもWRCファンの評判が良い模様。
