Great video! I remember the first time I visited Europe with my parents, 1977 I think, I turned on the tv in the hotel and Motocross was on TV, included in sports on the news! I couldn’t believe it! It was still a kind of fringe sport in the US at the time and to find it on TV was a rare thing. Really cool to see Mikkola, a Legend in the sport, acknowledging and showing mutual respect to Lackey. Brad worked so hard to get to that point, years of fighting and proving himself, trying to win that championship. When he finally pulled it off it was a really big deal to me and my friends, a really big deal to me personally. Those 500cc World GP motocross racers were true men, real men, riding men’s motorcycles, battling on men’s courses. I don’t think I will ever hold the same level of respect for any athletes as I do for those guys.👍

I still have a Kawasaki baseball cap signed by Brad Lackey at the Toronto Supercross. "B Lackey #1" My favorite rider no matter what brand he rode.

these were the days when the pits were open and you could watch the teams operate...i did a few times these were the war days of vietnam and nearing the 80s and closed pit areas. in these days the support classes were people racing for points in the nationals of the host country!

That opening shot had to have been at a EUROPEAN track because I never raced at any track where there were forwards falling gate in the 70's ,80's and early 90's ! WTF 😂 never seen a forwards falling gate in all my 25 years of Motocross racing in the USA

1972-1978 had forward falling gates all over the US, The forward falling gate, it was quickly figured out you could wheelie over it. 1976-1978 125 and 250 Nationals at Hangtown (the real Hangtown Plymouth) had a forward falling gate. I was there.
