It’s because there is a rising sentiment of ANTI-tourism across Europe where locals are stressed-out by the amount of chaos and pollution brought on by the tourists. Some might say tourism builds economy of the area, but that isnt exactly true since majority of the profit is taken by the big global corporations and rarely gets trickle down to the locals, and most of those towns, locals get gentrified by the rising real estate price.
And CRUISE LINE is the EPITOME of that way traveling, and many of the European cities have either banned or trying to cut down the dependency on cruising industry for local economy.
Honestly AMERICANS are the only people who still cruises as a way of travel, and ever since COVID19 demands for cruise traveling has sky high among Americans while rest of the world is trying to depart from that way traveling due to its low ecofriendly low socially conscious way of traveling.
THAT SENTIMENT where you said “this is a cruise town, I dont know why they are not welcoming to cruisers” is the problem, just because you have spent 10,000 dollars on a cruise, that is going to help that local economy, it’s only beneficial for Disney Cruise Line, you have just bought few glasses of cava, bought few baguette sandwitch, do the locals have to welcome you people with open arms???
