I had this a while ago. I went to the doctors and seen a nurse. She said it wasn’t even tonsillitis and made me feel really bad for wasting their time. A week later I felt so bad and I woke up one morning and my jaw had locked almost completely shut. I went back to the doctors to see an actual doctor and she sent me straight to hospital to have it drained, which was really difficult due to my mouth not opening more than perhaps half a cm.
Just had one drained last night. My symptoms were classic. If I had known, I would've gone to the ER right away. Was misdiagnosed at urgent care 2 nights ago and wound up going to the ER the following morning after the abscess drastically increased in size overnight. Yuck. The referred ear pain really threw me off. I thought I had an ear infection! Anyway, I feel much better. Still sore and slightly swollen. And will likely be cranky from the steroids over the next few days, but I already feel myself recovering. Thank you for this video! It will help me explain things to people without having to talk while I recover.❤
Literally my exact situation. Misdiagnosed 2 days ago and I just got back from the ER 10 minutes ago. The cut it, drained it, and gave me antibiotics. I am so thankful I went. I had the ear issue too and my lymph node on my neck was very swollen.
@@dfunkmale thank you! I just woke up and feel much better already. Hoping food and water go down easy. My voice was affected really bad too, was yours? I’m hoping that comes back to normal soon here as well.
@@yagamigoesberserk I'm actually a professional musician. I was singing at work the afternoon before I went to urgent care. My voice got pretty messed up. But My voice was pretty much back to normal two or three days after they drained the thing. And tonight I'll be singing at my New Year's gig!
I’m currently in Thailand right now, after not being able to talk, drink water, eat, or even talk, my uvula was half way down my throat, constantly feeling like I was checking on something, I had to head to the hospital yesterday after leaving tonsillitis for 5 days on amoxicillin, turns out nothing was working as had quinsy, the doctors tried draining it but just blood released, so I was put on a drip and sent home with 5 different lots of tablets, can happily say it’s been 3 hours and I can actually talk ! Thanks for the video man
Eat garlic next time. It will clear it up in a day or two. 1st time I had it for about 4 days until I ate portions of garlic. I could feel it sliding over my tonsils just burning its way through killing what is in its way surely as it's potents is strong. Within about three hours I felt like I could swallow without cringing in absolute pain and was gone the next day. Last time was 2 years ago, just had it again and took one day again after eating, only having it for two days. This time, it popped the next day, which was horrid, but I had relief an hour after that as well but can feel it clearing up already.
This is really well done. I just had one of these that was misdiagnosed a few times, and it was extremely painful. Had it drained once with a needle that did not remove it all, and it ended up rupturing by itself. (Was quite gross)
I just had this today, man, I can’t imagine how it would feel without local anaesthetic. I had local anaesthetic, needle aspiration, scalpel incisions and then had the incisions stretched. It was… kinda horrifying, but you must trust your healthcare provider. It needs to be drained. The aftermath of the pain is pretty bad, but not as bad as having severe tonsillitis as well as a quinsy. The overall procedure took maybe 12 minutes.
I had one about 5 or 6 months ago and I'm so scared I can feel another one coming right now 😢 So much pain on one side since last night and it's rapidly got worse😩 please god not again🙏😭

im going through this right now and in all honesty it makes me wanna die. the pain is so bad, nothing really stops it, I cant eat, I cant talk, I cant sleep because the pain is much worse when I go to bed. It was my birthday today and all I did was cry, the pain is so bad. my doctors want to see if it will go with antibiotics before sending me to hospital. it's so daft but i already suffer with dark thoughts, so something like this making everything seem miserable is enough to make me end it.. i constantly keep reminding myself that its curable and doing something like that is too extreme but honestly the pain is so bad.. i feel like ive been kicked in the face repeatedly.
This is my second time experiencing it without treatment I know it's curable but I can't even afford for the Medicine and Bills for the treatment I wish I could removed my tonsil This time I'm having thoughts to end my suffering.

Had one last year, no pus... this year again, with pus... hurtful as shit. In both cases I had antibiotics, the first round didn't remove it, it grew! Had to have it cut : / Never had such problems with tonsils!!! It both started after I drank cold drinks during warmer days! : (((
Currently I am experiencing the same ghad dhang misery. My throat started to hurt on Nov 1, 2024 and I only had a check up yesterday Nov 12, 2024; and should be admitted immediately for IV and I&D however no one can look after me that day if I'll be admitted. The doctor prescribed me two types of meds that I believe are antibiotics and steriods just to kill time since I still can't be admitted. The pain is beyond words, I am crying most of the time. You'll choose to drool rather than to swallow your own saliva. For days I only ate once, and every time I tried to drink some of the water will go out from my nose. It became uncomfortable for me to sleep on my right side even if the abscess is on my left. My left ear is killing me from pain every time I cough or vomit since I feel that I'll be having an acid reflux (what a combo!). I had a hard time drinking my meds particularly the antibiotic one (why do antibiotics are too big T.T justice for the quinsy people) I usually spat it out because it is that hard to swallow I was stunned when the doctor told me that if the abscess popped on its only it may flow directly to my heart or lungs creating more complications. I've learned Quinsy in a hard F-ing way, I taught it was just a normal tonsilitis after a fever. I wish this pain would stop in an instant T.T
My 17 yr old just had emergency surgery because of a "Quinsy" on her left tonsil. The pain was severe. She exhibited all the symptoms listed above. She couldn't talk eat swallow or open her mouth. She also had ear pain. All excruciating! We were in the hospital 3 days! Now she has to go back to have her tonsils and adenoids removed!
I just had one drained at the ER last night after being misdiagnosed at urgent care the night before. I'm all for tonsil removal. I wish I'd gotten rid of mine as a child. I hope your daughter's surgery went well and that she recovered easily! ❤
I have had problems with my tonsils for the past 3 years and no drs here in Australia will help me do anything about it. This week I have been to hospital due to the size they have swelled up to and now present pustules at the back of my through making it hard to swallow, drink water, or eat. Every dr has told me to wait and go on private health insurance as the wait list is long to have a tonsillectomy however if they had just referred me to a ENT specialist they would have been removed by now. I’m so sick of living with this and feeling sick lethargic, tired and sore all the time
