An easy fix to the stabillity issue, is to add some sort of gyroscope or weight blocks on rails to help stabalize it. You can get one off the workshop.

Instead of a escape pod, maybe you can try and fit a small boat in there for escape.

you should put the air intake the front the fishing boats , boat in general uses frontal air intake just front of the cabin
