I agree 1000%!! When I first heard this piece while watching Spectre, my initial thought was that it was one of Handel's. Imagine my surprise upon learning it was Vivaldi's.
THIS. Hurrah! No imagery attached to the music, just the score. Drives me Fucking NUTS when people attach “ORIGINAL VIDEO” -- -- that is how YOU see it, not necessarily any one else!! Thank you uploader! Beautiful.
In case you don't know, "Cum dederit" is just a movement of the "Nisi Dominus" (RV 608) which is the Psalm 126. All Vivaldi's sacred music is wonderful.
I absolutely agree with you. Those of you who came across this by watching a movie and aren't really familiar with Vivaldi's work should listen to more of his work. He was prolific and very good.
Andreas Scholl is my all time favorite countertenor. Pure! Unpretentious interpretation, flawless phrasing, incredible sparse and sublime use of vibrato.
+Avril Macdonald Though I must say that the sheet music and audio are in two completely different keys. I believe the audio is either in Eb or Ab... Still a great job though!
I wouldn't blame you if you spent your whole life listening to him.. That's practically what I am doing:)) Even when I go to sleep I have my headset on with him singing... God bless him..
I find it ironic because the Psalm says "Children are an inheritance from the Lord; a reward, the fruit of the womb"-- but as anyone who's watched Bob's Burgers will tell you, Louise is hardly a reward to Bob and Linda.
Ghani Hakim plenty more where this came from. Look for the entire Nisi Dominus sung by Andreas Scholl, and more music by Vivaldi and his contemporaries.
Thanks civileso for your hard work with the score animations, truly a work of the heart. This piece figures prominently in the David episode of Simon Schama's Power of Art series, serving as the theme music for the tragic figure of French painter Jacques Louis David. The tone of the music suits the episode perfectly, though if there's any relation between the text of this movement of the Nisi Dominus and David it remains a mystery. Again, many thanks!!!
ahhhh finally found this! Every Christmas i watch "White Christmas" the k-drama, and this song is perfect for listening to in the winter! who ever hadn't seen the drama, GO WATCH IT! ^^
In the film it is a Saprano and this is a Counter Tenor, so the tone resonate differntly. I actually like the tenor a little better. Adds a roundness and enhances the melancholy.
thank you for posting this.... i have been looking for the lyrics to this song for a couple years now... I only found out the title of this piece two days ago. thank you again
The film is Sandrine Piau who's singing, it's very nice to hear her performancing this, althought this is made for Altos or countertenors, maybe mezzosopranos also.
+Katerina K exactly what I did too. Was prolly the one good thing coming out of that piece of crap of a movie. oh yeah and the 2 seconds of sublime Monica Belucci.
Merhaba Ismail! Turkiye'den kontratenor soylemeye cabalayan birilerinin ciktigini duymak beni cok sevindiren birsey. Ben de Sholl-zedelerdenim! Eger baska kimeyi dinlmesem gam yemem:)) Kendine ve sesine iyi bak..
Interesting to compare this with the performance of the same piece by Scholl's role model, James Bowman (Simon Preston conducting). I find Scholl's very high voice makes some of his vowels a little indistinct. On the other hand I think he is smoother and I prefer his slower tempo, which may be related. How nice to quibble over degrees of greatness - these two make life richer!
If only the radio stations would now recognize that Vivaldi wrote more than the
Four Seasons! This music is exquisite.
I agree 1000%!! When I first heard this piece while watching Spectre, my initial thought was that it was one of Handel's. Imagine my surprise upon learning it was Vivaldi's.

Cette pièce est comme une porte vers l'autre monde , mon âme est remplie de paix et de tristesse en écoutant...
this piece is out of this world

Maravilloso, una pieza única... llevaba mucho tiempo detrás de ella.
¡¡¡Sublime!!!
Sublime, and what a beautiful - and fairly recent discovery - this piece of music is.
The best part of this upload is the uploader took the trouble to sync the sheet music... we identify everything that's going on.
+Tan Tze Jinn so right - very rare to have this and lucky!
The best voice for Vivaldi's "Nisi dominus" und "Cum dederit" :)!
Sends shivers up my spine every time I hear t.
Started loving this song because of a Korean Drama called White Christmas. This song matched so well with the story!
Power Of Art, David.
Thanks, Bob's Burgers for turning me on to this awesome piece. :D
I find it ironic because the Psalm says "Children are an inheritance from the Lord; a reward, the fruit of the womb"-- but as anyone who's watched Bob's Burgers will tell you, Louise is hardly a reward to Bob and Linda.
What?! Louise is great!

I can't get this gem outta my mind. It's pure heaven! Where can I find music comparable to this? I am beyond addicted?
Ghani Hakim plenty more where this came from. Look for the entire Nisi Dominus sung by Andreas Scholl, and more music by Vivaldi and his contemporaries.
