They've met at an audition program called "Phantom Singer 2" which finds the best male cross-over quartet in South Korea. These 4 guys were included(survived) in the final 12 singers among hundreds of applicants. And, the program PD divided those 12 amazing singers into 3 groups as the singers want. And, guess what? They(FORESTELLA) won this contest!!! When they sing on the stage, they normally set their positions like this. Some of my favorites: "Scarborough Fair", "If I leave" (very emotional song, check out the English lyrics before you react to it), "Save our Lives" (their own song, I recommend the music video, it's a visual materpiece), "Inner universe (Phantom Singer All Stars)" (their performance left the audience in shock), "Spread Silk on my Heart" (a song with oriental melodies) and "Lazenca, Save us" (rock opera).

Son maravillosos y opino igual, para mí Forestella es el mejor grupo crossover que he escuchado jamás. Mi favorito es Ko Woorim, el bajo profundo, de formación clásica, creo que no he escuchado una voz baja tan hermosa como la suya, aunque en cada tema destacan uno u otros y en este en concreto Bae Doohoon, tu favorito, se sale. Él tiene una voz preciosa, con muchos matices y un toque áspero que imprime mucho dramatismo en este tipo de temas. Aparte tiene gran experiencia como tenor dramático. El tercero en cantar es Cho Mingyu, un tipo carismático, un líder nato, tenor lírico de formación clásica con una voz nítida y poderosa. Y, por último, Kang Hyung Ho, él toca la estratosfera con su voz de soprano/ roquero. Es el único que no tenía formación musical, él era químico, pero su sueño era vivir de la música y con su inmenso talento lo logró. Estoy segura que van a ser admirados en el mundo entero. Además son increíblemente versátiles, no hay tema que se les resista, siempre superan la excelencia. Por separado seducen con sus hermosas voces, juntos hacen magia. Lovely Reaction. Yes, I agree THIS is Bae Doo-Hoon's song. (He was trained in Theatre). But what is good is they all get songs where they get the focal part. The bass (Classically trained Basso Profundo) is Ko WooRim. The third singer is Cho Mingyu (Classically trained Tenor, and leader of the group). The last singer is Kang Hyung Ho (who goes by PITTA on his performances separate from Forestella) has a vast vocal range. He was a Research Chemist who sang in a Rock band in his spare time. Their "Shape of you" is better than Ed Sheerins. Their "Bad Romance" is better than Lady Gaga. And, their Bohemian Rhapsody is absolutely what Freddie had in his head when he wrote it. Their "Sweet Dreams", "Time in a bottle", "Lacanza Save us", "Hijo de la luna" are jaw dropping. You really have to watch Kang Hung Ho's solo "Phantom of the Opera" from the show which created Forestella, to get an idea of his range. Ko WooRim's "Autumn Leaves is soooo magnetic. Plus.. Reactors from Spain, Italy, France and English speakers all say their pronunciation in different languages is astounding. For me (a Queen fan), they nailed Bohemian Rhapsody. But the one you've just watched (" Je suits malade") is MY favourite. The vocals and emotion is perfection for the song.

“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends. Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations. This 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries. The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.

Hi~ Thanks for your reaction to FORESTELLA. I'd love to tell you about FORESTELLA briefly. They've met at an audition program called "Phantom Singer 2" which finds the best male cross-over quartet in South Korea. These 4 guys were included(survived) in the final 12 singers among hundreds of applicants. And, the program PD divided those 12 amazing singers into 3 groups as the singers want. And, guess what? They(FORESTELLA) won this contest!!!
When they sing on the stage, they normally set their positions like this. The first one from the left side is Ko Woo-rim(bass, a grad-schooler in vocal music), the second one is Kang Hyeong-ho(conter-tenor/soprano, ex- chemist), the third one is Cho Min-kyu(tenor, MA degree in vocal music) and the fourth one is Bae Doo-hoon(tenor, musical actor) There're many amazing songs they've covered. Shoutout to George for introducing you to the best vocal group out there at the moment. :-) All of their performances are amazing. Some of my favorites: "Scarborough Fair", "If I leave" (very emotional song, check out the English lyrics before you react to it), "Save our Lives" (their own song, I recommend the music video, it's a visual materpiece), "Inner universe (Phantom Singer All Stars)" (their performance left the audience in shock), "Spread Silk on my Heart" (a song with oriental melodies) and "Lazenca, Save us" (rock opera).
They’re not actually acapella group but crossover group. Please Time in a bottle, Bohemian Rhapsody, Bad Romance Scaborough Fair etc… so many songs that makes you jawdropping!!!
Forestella are phenomenal. They are fairly new, having being created from a contest in South Korea a few years ago. Every one of their pieces is incredible well worked and made their own. A few suggestions; Hijo de Luna, a Bohemian Rhapsody, my Favorite Things, Shape of you, Bad Romance, Queen songs, Nella Fantasia. I am sure you will want more and more and more! They are said to practice every day for hours.

Son maravillosos y opino igual, para mí Forestella es el mejor grupo crossover que he escuchado jamás.
Mi favorito es Ko Woorim, el bajo profundo, de formación clásica, creo que no he escuchado una voz baja tan hermosa como la suya, aunque en cada tema destacan uno u otros y en este en concreto Bae Doohoon, tu favorito, se sale. Él tiene una voz preciosa, con muchos matices y un toque áspero que imprime mucho dramatismo en este tipo de temas. Aparte tiene gran experiencia como tenor dramático.
El tercero en cantar es Cho Mingyu, un tipo carismático, un líder nato, tenor lírico de formación clásica con una voz nítida y poderosa.
Y, por último, Kang Hyung Ho, él toca la estratosfera con su voz de soprano/ roquero. Es el único que no tenía formación musical, él era químico, pero su sueño era vivir de la música y con su inmenso talento lo logró.
Estoy segura que van a ser admirados en el mundo entero.
Además son increíblemente versátiles, no hay tema que se les resista, siempre superan la excelencia.
Por separado seducen con sus hermosas voces, juntos hacen magia.

Lovely Reaction. Yes, I agree THIS is Bae Doo-Hoon's song. (He was trained in Theatre). But what is good is they all get songs where they get the focal part. The bass (Classically trained Basso Profundo) is Ko WooRim. The third singer is Cho Mingyu (Classically trained Tenor, and leader of the group). The last singer is Kang Hyung Ho (who goes by PITTA on his performances separate from Forestella) has a vast vocal range. He was a Research Chemist who sang in a Rock band in his spare time. Their "Shape of you" is better than Ed Sheerins. Their "Bad Romance" is better than Lady Gaga. And, their Bohemian Rhapsody is absolutely what Freddie had in his head when he wrote it. Their "Sweet Dreams", "Time in a bottle", "Lacanza Save us", "Hijo de la luna" are jaw dropping. You really have to watch Kang Hung Ho's solo "Phantom of the Opera" from the show which created Forestella, to get an idea of his range. Ko WooRim's "Autumn Leaves is soooo magnetic. Plus.. Reactors from Spain, Italy, France and English speakers all say their pronunciation in different languages is astounding. For me (a Queen fan), they nailed Bohemian Rhapsody. But the one you've just watched (" Je suits malade") is MY favourite. The vocals and emotion is perfection for the song.

Totally agree that Bae Doohoon was the standout here! They've covered classics including Bohemian Rhapsody, Sound of Silence, Parla Piu Piano (from The Godfather), and Nella Fantasia as well as pop songs including Bad Romance, Warriors, and Shape of You. Each member has incredible solo performances too, including Ko Woorim's "Stars" (Les Mis), Cho Mingyu's "Phantom of the Opera," Cho Mingyu's "Speechless" (Aladdin), and Bae Doohoon's "Defying Gravity" (Wicked). “Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973.
This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).
When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours.
The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes.
Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.
But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s.
At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends.
Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations.
This 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries.
The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.
