*JUST FYI* that “AI METER” thing on the second Patrick ta video hasn’t added by me, that’s on the video… have no idea what it is but it means absolutely nothing 😂
@@RobertWelshThat was so bizarre, lol. "YES, PLEASE TRUST THAT I'M TELLING YOU THE TRUTH BECAUSE A COMPUTER DECIDED MY TONE OF VOICE WAS GENUINE ENOUGH." 😂🤣 It's like a polygraph [which isn't actually real enough to be evidence in court] but somehow even worse.
Blessings Robert. You may disagree with Christianity but just know that this christian (ME!) LOOOOVES you and agree 💯 with what you're saying. Also, obsessed with your Divinity palette, 😊. Guess what? I use twice a week to go to church! Can't even put it down, lol.❤🫂
Hey what you’re doing is going directly against Jesus’s teaching to not bother people who aren’t coming to you if their own volition. Lead by example, not harassment, and pestering Robert in his replies about your beliefs is exactly that
My dad has Dementia and he’s watching this with me and he said you are very beautiful ♥️ he’s 75 and he just loves people so much and I always want to share his positivity Edit: thank you all for your incredible kindness and positivity there isn’t one person in this community who hasn’t shown me anything but kindness and love, I adore the community you have fostered Robert ♥️
I love that! Thank you for sharing, because I needed that little gem of happiness today ❤ dementia runs in my family too, so sending you and your dad an extra hug 🫂
Patrick saying “this was my TEAM’S mistake” and immediately following it up with “I take full accountability” doesn’t sound like taking accountability lmfao
Concerning AI, I’m an artist and I want the AI to do my laundry and clean house while I do art, instead of me cleaning the house and doing laundry while the AI does art.
Yeah that was the thing that stood out to me as well. For how much those products cost and how "luxury" they are supposed to be, those cheap plastic palletes just snapped so easily.
to be fair it was just the hinges. You'd be surprised how easily something can break if you turn it the opposite direction it's meant to go, including the joints on your body.
From his first response, he said that he'd like to pay her that day if she'd respond to him. Why does she need to respond to him?? I'm sure they have her payment details
Right after he said she didn't owe him a response! Like, sir, she doesn't owe you, but since you're putting her over a barrel anyway, it's irrelevant. I swear he just used random social justice phrases he's heard in the ether without thinking about the implications of any of it
Yeah, the only correct response is to pay her without asking her to do more work to get paid. He can access his own business records to see when (if any) payments were made in the past and how much is owed for these delinquent payments (that she should be getting interest on as well).
I was thinking about this too, she’s makes a video where she’s upset she hasn’t been paid despite reaching out so many times and his response is to tell her to… reach out to get paid?
"She does not owe me a conversation.... I want to get you compensated as soon as possible, today if possible, *if you are willing to answer me.*" No, you need to pay her, period. It doesn't matter if she responds to your request or not, pay her what you owe her!
Fr he knows she's pissed, you would have had her info previous to that? But no she needs to touch base with him to get the money! Ie, let me talk to you, ill pay you whatever to win you back and say you're okay with us again!
Also, that amount of waste pales in comparison to the waste companies do. They (big corp) just love pushing the responsibility of environmental consciousness onto the individual rather than taking accountability and action.
I also don’t think she should have to donate the money. She was essentially scammed out of her money by that brand, so why should people guilt her into donating the money when she gets it refunded.
@@ebbiebean9385 That is such a great point because people are so ready to call out consumers and customers for wastage but barely the same energy is given to companies when they are the biggest wasters and pollutants.
I agree. At first I was thinking "it's giving people setting their nikes on fire", but it's out of protest and pure disgust for the brand. She's basically saying boycott these people that profit off our backs, and I'm here for it. 😊
I used to BE the person that hired influencers to do collabs for brands, im in Australia. I can confirm, that all that needs to happen is id receive the influencers invoice for their work, and id sign it off to say to the company finance team that "yes, this service & fee is correct & yes we received the service we're paying for" then finance would PAY IT in the next payrun. So that might take anywhere from a couple of days to 30 days max depending on how large the brand is and how often finance do payment runs on bills due. There is NO excuse for simply not paying supplier invoices!!
Some of the governmental companies have stipulations that no invoices are paid until 90 days (don't ask me my opinion on THAT.), but even then, it's in the contract and known in advance.
I've worked in procurement, admin and marketing (both in Australia and the UK) and like... 50% of my job at least was chasing the f*ing finance department to PAY INVOICES. If you worked for a business that always paid in 30 days, you worked for a unicorn lol
i work as that finance desk monkey looking at numbers and every day i have ppl asking where their money is, and sometimes it's as easy as "sure! the money will be sent on x/x/xx" and sometimes it's "this invoice isn't in the system" and the on-the-ground employee they've been talking to is AWOL so the invoice never gets put in the system and never gets paid
@RobertWelsh honestly can't understand what's causing these brands to fail to pay on invoice. It's just like any other service a brand has to pay for like tv ad spots, billboards, Meta Ads, Google ads etc. There is a marketing spend allocated annually. Possible reasons for non-payment could be: 1) they're a chaotic, disorganised brand with a lack of process & systems in place (typical od small biz especially but wouldn't be surprised if some larger ones had issues) 2) they didn't actually get finance approval internally before agreeing to sponsor an influencer - so shady! 3) the collab didn't meet their targets (e.g. sales or engagement targets) & so they're dragging their feet about paying - again, shady af and there could be myriad reasons for this that don't necessarily lie on the influencers side (even.g. let's,say an influencer generated 3m video views, but brand manager forgot to properly set up tracking & analytics- it happens!) 4) they are inexperienced & don't know what they're doing & failed to get the influencer added to the finance system as a supplier. Easily rectified though, just laziness. In all cases you could get a lawyer to write a stern/threatening email demanding payment within 48 hours or further action will be taken. Usually this is enough, and you never have to actually take further action.
Don't forget the crocodile tears lmfao. Also his expressionless face while saying he's sorry and all that jazz kinda creeps me out a little bit. He looks like he just got resurrected or smth
Anyone who’s angry at the snapping and trashing of the palettes needs to remember that’s exactly what they do at Sephora when you return a used product - point blank, period. The amount of waste THEY create should be talked about. Bless this queen
What is Sephora supposed to do? Resell the used products that people return? It’s the consumers who are making these returns who are creating the waste by taking advantage of their return policy. It’s disgusting the amount of returns people do at Sephora. It’s the consumer’s responsibility to do proper research on products before buying something just because they saw it on TikTok.
AI art turns me way off a brand. If they aren’t even willing to pay an artist for the art they want, why would I think they aren’t cutting corners like crazy in places we can’t see?
What about the companies who don't use art and instead just put a name on the packaging? Do they also turn you off too since they aren't paying an artist either?
@@flaggov6949 That's not even the same comparison....If the company doesn't use art in their packaging then there was no artist middleman. If an artist can be used, they should be instead of relying on ai which relies on stealing other artwork and creating an uncanny art that cannot be controlled nor adjusted to the level of detail an artist could
The way homegirl snapped those Patrick Ta products in two so easily says a lot about the brand and the quality of those products. 😂 Its crazy how she is judged for destroying a product but people are less outraged they havent run mama her coins. Again black women are not allowed to react in any tupe of why without being judged. Smh. Thank you Robert for talking about this specific point. 💜💜
"How can you love art, love the artist community, and still not value human work enough to respect that AI just straight up steals from artists" THANK YOU! ( I know that was just one of their MANY issues, but I appreciate you saying that)
Something about “We’ll pay you what we owe you for the work that you’ve already done *if* you reach back out to talk to us despite the fact that 1. we ignored you reaching out to us for months already and 2. we already have the information that we need to pay you without wasting more of your time” doesn’t sit right with me.👀
That is exactly what I noticed too - the IF. Obviously paying people is optional/conditional for them 😬 Sadly it isn't uncommon, I've had jobs where I've had to camp at the finance person's desk until they paid an invoice for a freelancer or small vendor who was relying on that money to live.
Yet her being totally unprofessional does? She could have made a much better factual non emotional, professional video stating facts and she would have looked better. I would never work with this emotional and unprofessional woman after seeing that video.
@@allytrudie864why was she being unprofessional? Because she broke the makeup palettes? She was making a statement. She didn't curse, she held herself together, she did that because she felt like she wasn't being heard. If she made a video the way you decided she should, realistically she probably wouldn't have been heard. She felt the need to be bold because she had been ignored for literal MONTHS, and she felt like she needed to be heard. Would you say that if she were a white creator who made that same video? Serious question.
She won't get jobs now because shes mouthing off on social media to get paid. Other brands are in the loop and WILL NOT HIRE A PERSON THAT COULD POTENTIALLY ACT OUT IN SUCH A WAY. Payments land when they land.. Being ignored, not paid and outing a brand over the payment isn't a good look for both parties. There's more than one way to get thru to these people, last resort would have been to show face at the business and asking for payment. Anything surrounding social media involved with work and money- NEEDS TO BE PRIVATE ALWAYS! BLACK WHITE PURPLE YELLOW is IRRELEVANT! let's see her get another brand deal again?? Time will tell....🤦🤷❤
@@JillyBean_1987you do not act like this woman in the corporate world 😂 or in any type of business world. That was unprofessional and emotional. It was a bad move and I wouldn’t hire her even if she was the one in the right in this case. It was a business mistake- this happens all the time.
“This was my team’s mistake…” made me so angry. I would NEVER do that to my staff. I recruit them, I train them, I set the expectations for customer service etc. If they do something bad it is therefore ultimately MY fault, and my responsibility. Why is there seemingly an ethos in this company where it’s ok to ignore people, or not pay people? Unless you’re employing a bunch of sociopaths and not watching what they’re doing, that attitude has come from the top.
They were probably doing exactly what he wanted them to. Just to be thrown under the bus. Ignoring all her messages seem deliberate anyway. My guess is that he's a "fun guy" to work for.
His realization of what he said and immediately backpeddling it when he said "My name is on the brand I take responsibility" lol For what? Throwing your team in front of a bus?
As a nanny who once worked an entire month, 40 hours per week, for 4 1/2 weeks only to have my employer tell me they do not have enough money to pay me, they owed me over $2500, but refused to pay any of it, there is no where to go, there is no one to talk to, there’s no way to get your money without spending triple that amount of money on an attorney, so I understand this woman and what she’s going through. The people who are focused on her destroying product are people who don’t care that this woman was jilted. These are the kind of people who would do the same thing to her.
I babysit a lot, and have throughout my entire life. I’ve learned, the people only get once chance not to pay me, and I instantly quit. When I was younger I was more patient and trustworthy, but now I won’t tolerate it at all. Once they don’t pay me, I’m out. Done.
I quit immediately, but because I was working for a state employee who only got paid once per month. My payday was only once per month, so she literally hired me to work the entire month and then on payday she told me she didn’t have the funds.
Wrong. You just need to take them to small claims court and educate yourself with a simple basic knowledge of contract law which you should already have done.
OH!! I’d have to lose my patience and religion if an employer did that. I’d get payment one way or another. That’s is so disrespectful. You don’t have the money to pay me? I took this job cause I didn’t have money either but I actually did work so pay me!!! Oh lord I’m hot after reading your post.
Actually, small claims is 40 bucks to film. You can add any costs that occurred to sue them. U would win hands down and u can ask the judge to garnish them.
Despite the obvious issue of not paying poc creators, my issue is that EXPENSIVE makeup is breaking that easy! She wasn't even breaking a sweat! Just a slight bend of her wrists and they were destroyed. If you are paying that much for makeup, the quality of container better not be Dollar Tree plastic.
I first heard about this via another creator and I was just listening to the video. I thought the rustling was her taking plastic packaging off something - to actually watch the video here and to see she is just SNAPPING the products in half I was like 😮
This comment right here is IT!! I’ve been trying to think of a word for people who are showing hate towards Avona breaking the Patrick Ta makeup and calling it wasteful. SYMBOLIC is that word @beatlebums I have no problem with her breaking the makeup at all. It’s been frustrating for me seeing some people more concerned about breaking makeup than her experience and not being paid! She had emailed and emailed, sent DM’s to the brands page and Patrick multiple times and was ignored until she created a video that went viral as it should have. Then Patrick makes this “apology and statement”’asking her to have a conversation and he wants to get her paid today. No I’m sorry she didn’t owe him anything. When Patrick Ta created his statement and apology I first thought okay let’s see if he can learn from this and grow but then I saw the post go down and a brand new one that now had him crying. That isn’t sincere. I’m sorry that was so performative! Great and powerful comment! I hope you’ve had a great day ❤
Justice for what? A mistake? So Patrick is a racist and intentionally never pays ONLY black people? Is that what you are saying? She’s an emotional victimhood mentalitied baby. She will do horribly in business because you never react publicly or emotionally over things like these.
Because they want to look like the issue was so important to them that they dropped absolutely everything in order to rush & address the issue, not even time to put on their usual public-facing clothing/makeup or get their lighting in check. It's a fake way to look earnest. But, devil's advocate take: If they took the time to get ready & did a more refined set for their video, they would also be denigrated for being fake because "you had all of that time to get ready" which indicates vanity & self-centeredness about looking good VS caring about the issue.
The way I have loved brands and found their products to be entirely unique and I would love to wear everything they make and then… oop they hate you. They do not like that you exist. How can brands be a part of a community about expression and individuality and loving yourself and be like 👀 wish you wouldn’t. ???
That really got me. Like the videos had the EXACT SAME SCRIPT! Makes it all seem so phony and not at all genuine. And why the heck is he crying in the first place? I can see him being upset if this was truly an honest mistake and feeling bad about. But blubbering like that seems totally over the top.
That part. I'm like there were opened and used. Donations for personal care products have to sealed and unused. Why would we do less than sanitary donations to the needy???
There are women's shelters that accept "gently used" which I think they evaluate the product and will take it open if the surface doesn't look used, but only for powders
The BOLDNESS to price your product as 88.88 💀 I can't. Especially because it clearly wasn't just a really unfortunate accident. If a brand sold something for 88.95 I'd probably overlook it but when is anything ever 88 cents? If another brand landed on that number after doing their little profit equation or whatever they do they'd probably say "ah fuck it, make it 90$" and be done with it. I've never heard of this brand before now and I'm glad, I hope the only thing I hear about them again after this is "they went out of business"
What is so bold about it? There is an equation to pricing products and they chose NOT to round up like most corporations do. Those extra two round up cents turn to millions of dollars with some companies.
@@allytrudie864 yes but there's also a reason why brands use standard pricing, not using it is being an outlier and a specific choice in this case the choice is to use a dog whistle
thank you so much for being probably the first big name makeup content creator who publicly said something about ensley reign's ai slop in one of his videos openly! i dont wanna name names but a creator i absolutely adore who was questioned abt the use of ai being a big supporter of ensley (before the transphobic stuff) they dogded the question by saying people are just "scared of technology and science" and that just.... seemed like the biggest excuse ever. tech is made by people, and as such it does not exist in a vacuum. professional corporate ai image generators were made so companies could pay less by eliminating the process of paying an actual artist and using portfolio from people who did not consent for their art to be added to the data pool. makeup is a form of art and as such many more beauty content creators should take a stand and stand by fellow artists. im glad many people on their pr list dropped them after their transphobic stuff emerged, but nobody should have given them the time of day the moment they came out with ai art for their palettes.
@@flaggov6949 bad wording from my part, my bad. but most generative image ai-s coming out right now *are* being marketed towards big companies saying any buzzword but what they really mean, which is "less employees to pay! line has to go up! more profit!!!"
@@flaggov6949 I agree with you that it wasn't the primary reason they were created, but... It's how they're largely being used right now, which is a big problem & a symptom of the late stage capitalism we're currently embroiled in. As much as I wish that AI were being used to help with practical solutions that weren't exploiting anyone, that's unfortunately not the reality. And this is from someone who was [& still sometimes is] really, really, REALLY excited about AI. 😔
@@ZijnShayatanica Actually, image generation is used in some really interesting research. People just don't bother to read journals, and most news outlets would rather chase controversy than enlighten people.

Why do brands have to make the entire population their market? Why? Nothing wrong with having a specific customer you target to and if it keeps your business viable - then you are just a good business person.
Had a person in the family friend circle straight up say Autism doesnt exist and they just need a good spanking... while my kid is non verbal and highly autistic. like they arent part of our community anymore (she was also trying to paint me as a golddigger for moving from SWEDEN to England because of my husband). Like people who aren't neurodivergent can be so absolutely close minded it hurts my brain.
@@Sessae Haaaahahaha. Moving from Sweden to a country with much lower wages and a public health an security system on its knees after 14 years of Tory politics makes you a gold digger?
It’s also just stupid in general. The human brain has a billion unique ways of working so when I hear people deny that I just think “do you really think the brain can only think in one way?”
Oooh, I would be boiling! I have a beautiful 19-year-old great niece with Down syndrome and selectively verbal autism. How anyone can decide that *hitting* a person would do anything but make them terrified and heartbroken is beyond me! Thank you for advocating for your kid.
As an autistic person, I'm so tired of the entitlement and passive ableism in society. Ive noticed that for some reason, ableism is one of the more pervasive and socially accepted forms of bigotry. No form of bigotry should be seen as acceptable imo. People are so cruel and heartless, but they claim its autistic people like me who lack empathy (granted, some of us do, but I experience hyperempathy) ... They also tell us to "stop making autism our whole personality" when it's quite literally our entire brains that are autistic. Every way in which I act, react, and function in this world is directly impacted by my autism, because my brain is an autistic brain. It just reels of entitlement and bigotry every time when I'm told to "stop making it my whole personality..." Especially considering personalities are so heavily impacted by things like neurodevelopment. Like, nobody is entitiled to me acting like something I'm not at my expense, for their confort and convenience Sorry for the rant, but I feel so strongly about anti autistic ableism as an autistic person.
"Stop making autism your entire personality"?? 😢😢 This hurt me. I'm sorry. I can't tell you how sad people make me. It's absolutely bigotry, as a black woman I assure you I have never met anyone I expected to be racist or insensitive it hurts everytime but I just learn how to evolve in my reaction. I expect you are learning or have learned a similar recovery cycle. It's wild what people think is okay to say to others.
Even the autistics I've met accused of having no empathy ACTUALLY DO have empathy, they just lack a societally appropriate way to express their empathy! Everyone tells you to be comfortable being yourself and when you are they're like, no not like THAT, and it's always to the people who struggle with social norms, like neuro divergent, disabled or even LGBTQ+
So I'm also autistic and I'm one of the people who says that autism shouldn't be your entire personality. This doesn't mean that autism doesn't *affect* your personality, but making your entire existence around having autism is a different thing. You can be autistic and have a personality that isn't just about you having autism, if you get what I mean. Now, this doesn't mean like "oh so you're saying I can't talk about [X] thing now because I'm autistic?! I can't talk about special interests or ableism or whatever?!" - I don't mean that at all, what I'm talking about is the people who seem to think "autistic" is a personality trait. They constantly mention it, every conversation is about it, it's in their bios, all of the potential things that could tell someone they have autism are on their bags and jackets, they relate everything back to how they're autistic (and therefore special), they do the tiktok dances and spread misinformation and stereotypes about autism (or it's the main content they watch). This kind of person has made autism their entire personality. If you ask them what their favourite colour is, they'll ramble on about tiktok shit about autism and how autistic people actually prefer the colour green so that's their favourite colour. Okay, so what do you like to do in your free time? Um actually autistic people actually blah blah blah. They're the type of people who tell me that I'm being autistic wrong because I am visibily autistic without any of the cute badges, and instead just act weirdly in public without masking and also without caring about telling people I have autism. It's not that I don't like being autistic, I just don't think it is a personality trait. I like cats, I like crafting, I like the colour spectrum that extends from green into blue, I am extremely empathetic to a debilitating point, I love learning new things, I care so deeply about animals, I love plants too, I like history and linguistics and language and researching religions, I'm intelligent to a fault and mostly very self aware but sometimes surprisingly un self aware. I remember song lyrics fairly well but I'm prone to mishearing them. I'm intense and stubborn and can have a bad temper. I hold grudges and I remember everything. I love alliums, garlic, onions, chives - that's some of my favourite food - but I always say that my favourite food is the entirety of the category "fruit", which I love at least as much as alliums. I'm nerdy and wordy and obsessed with being understood correctly which means I write paragraphs at a time. This is my personality. It's absolutely influenced by autism, and the other disorders I have. I don't know what I would be like without autism, which of these things would change or still stay the same. But the fact is that autism isn't my personality, it's just a part of me at an innate level. Your personality is your likes and dislikes, your behaviour, your temperament, your hobbies. And all of that is influenced by so many other things, like how you were raised and the society you live in, and the places you spend your time in, and also the intrinsic structure of how your brain works and the things you've experienced in your life. But those things *aren't* your personality, they're what helps create it. Before this comes across as preachy and that I'm perfect - I used to do the same thing. I am multiply disabled and a lesbian. I absolutely made those things my personality, some more online, some more offline. All my conversations would have me linking back to these things, I'd reference them constantly, I even used to have a long list of all my diagnoses (including things like wearing glasses!!!!!) in a page on tumblr not that long ago and list some in my bios. I didn't think of it as being my personality, I thought it was ~embracing~ my diagnoses and letting people know where I was coming from, and don't mind all the references to the fact that I am only attracted to women in all of my usernames and bios and pfps. And then what I realised was that it wasn't any of those things. It was me being both deeply insecure in who I actually was and also trying to make myself ~special~ in an internet that currently cares about ~specialness~. I don't want to be known as "the disabled lady" or "the disabled lesbian" or whatever. I would rather be known as [INSERT REAL NAME HERE]. At least in real life, online I'm a mystery. I don't want the entire thing people think about me to be "oh that's that girl who is disabled and won't stop talking about it". I want "wow, she's really nice and clever and witty and oh, she's an autistic lesbian who uses a wheelchair too? That's fine by me!" you know? I used to do disability activism and part of the reason I left was because I was coming to this conclusion about myself and wanting to do practical things while other people were more focussed on making sure everyone used the right terms because "disabled person" bad, "person with disabilities" good...which one gets me a ramp, again? This isn't exclusive to disabilities or orientation, it's everywhere in modern life. We've just collectively accepted that a personality can be whatever you want it to be. What clothes you wear, what makeup you do, what you eat, what brands you buy from, what religion you follow, what political positions you hold - all of this can now just be someone's defining characteristic, and they do it to themselves! They tell you "I'm kind of an Apple fan, so don't different coloured text me! I'd never date an Android user" but you will never know what their favourite animals are and why or who they look up to beyond Steve Jobs or what type of books they like to read. It's all identity politics and the centering of the individual as individualism has got so far out of control, making personality consumerism/capitalism friendly, being unable to be in multiple nuanced boxes as a person in the modern world, etc. So now I don't tell people what my diagnoses are or my orientation unless it's relevant to the discussion. It's not in any usernames or pictures or bios anymore. A lot of people have no idea that I'm a lesbian or have whatever disorder because I just... don't care. In the same way as I don't make my hair or eye colour the main thing about me, it's just a part of me and how my genetic cookie crumbled. It doesn't matter what colour my hair or eyes are when I'm writing this, for example. Anyway, I know I wrote a lot here, but as someone who has encouraged younger autistic people to not make autism their personality and also to still devote time and attention to actually *having* a personality, I wanted to say why. It's not because autism doesn't affect those things, but because it's the things themselves that make you You; an interesting person with value beyond your diagnosis. Hopefully this helps explain my perspective.
I left a 3 star review on a product, it wasn't a bad product, it just wasn't good for me, which I explained in my review and I said who I thought it would work for. Within 72 hours I'd gotten a response from the brand asking to speak to me about my experience and they actually followed through. They ended up sending me products that they thought would be a better match for me and I was so shocked by how thoughtfully they handled it that I now consider it the best interaction I've ever had with a brand or any customer service actually.
Avonna monologuing while snapping those pallettes in half legit made me and my bestie SCREAMM. That was wayy too ICONIC. This is how you send a message people!!
Women are not attracted to men that are feminine. It’s science and comes from the primitive brain 🤷🏼♀️ these are scientifically proven facts. You’ll get damaged women that had severe physical/mental/emotional abuse from men that makes them fearful of men presenting like men. That’s who straight men that wear makeup will pull in. I’m a psychiatrist so I’m very well versed in this.
Calmly breaking products while talking to the camera is ICONIC 🙌💛😆 I had depoted a Colorpop 9 pans and I need to work really hard to break this palette, the way Patrick Ta products break whitout anyway effort is insane (supposed to be luxurious 😅). Products from Patrick Ta have mold issues eyeshadow palettes, blush, bronzer… they say nothing about that too. I don’t understand WHY people buy these products 🤷♀️
@@allytrudie864 I don't understand why you keep posting this exact same comment. I also don't understand why *her* professionalism is up for debate and why you're calling *her* video emotional, but you're not talking about Patrick Ta who made the conscious decision to take down a video and upload a second take so that he could actually be *more* emotional in it. She was very calmly explaining her side of things and I saw absolutely nothing wrong with her video. But Patrick Ta threw his team under the bus before saying that if she got in touch, he would pay her. As a professional, he should have checked with his team before filming his 'apology' and made sure that she was paid immediately. It should have been top priority; not how many takes he needed to get the right amount of crocodile tears. She stated that she emailed and DMed him before making a video and nothing was done. If HE had been professional - which he should be if he's going to claim that his makeup is 'luxury' (ignoring the fact that most of it grows mold) - then she wouldn't have had to make a video where she's bringing awareness to it.
Never touched his products for the pure fact that he’s launched from no where as ‘luxury’ and so pricy. Luxury is earned, long standing brands that have proven over and over again that they deliver quality.
I honestly trust freaking Clinique over Patrick TA. Patrick Ta is JUST another online personality who tried to make makeup but failed. It's a dime a dozen, especially when it doesn't work. He's like Kylie makeup that's also trash.
ER doesn’t even create her own color stories she finds the AI art and then just pulls the colors from the art- it’s why you’ll end up with super similar mattes or ones that make no sense. ER has been notorious for not paying their creators who did collab palettes with them
honestly being a malay muslim in a chinese school, we learn from a young age to respect each other’s choice, religion, and culture. let everyone do what they want as long as theyre not harming anyone.
That Patrick Ta 'apology' video put me RIGHT off the brand. I won't be buying from them again. I haven't been impressed with their quality for price anyway
Then it sounds like it’s his products that are the issue- not Patrick. Why do you care his business made a mistake of missing ONE invoice? Why is that so personal to you?
@@allytrudie864 well it doesn't really seem like a 'mistake' you know - if she contacted them repeatedly, it seems like they just ignored her and not that they missed an invoice.
Them palettes snap, crackle and popping so easy, truly is eye opening how certain brands think they are high and mighty! Because colourpop may come with a crack SHADE! But baby, those palettes do not break that easy! They need to give her that $$$
@@allytrudie864light packaging will break in your purse lmao. Not mutually exclusive things, they actually go hand in hand. The purse is a dangerous place for cheap packaging, anyone that’s had a poorly packaged powder explode in their purse would know
I had makeup in soft packaging in purses, and makeup bags that go in suitcases and none of them cracked. If a colorpop pallet can last in a purse and not PatrickTa, the the problem is with PatrickTa

@@starbird3939no. The problem is with consumers buying Patrick ta regardless of how crappy his packaging is. That was a consumer choice to purchase so he got the okay.
I can't understand why someone would suggest donating an item that is defective. (I understand that the Patrick Ta ones were fine, I'm referring to the Glamlite.) Please don't do that, people who shop at charity shops/ thrift stores can't afford to waste their money either. Imagine it went to a shelter and got distributed to someone in need and they open it and it looks empty. The disappointment would be even more intense. That item is supposed to be a bright spot for someone going through rough times.
AI makes everything feel and seem soulless and cold... which is why it always gives an "off" vibe, no matter how much or little it's used in something. I am so happy that I've never bought anything from any of these brands ever... and I will never do. I completely agree with you Robert, I would much rather just have them be honest from the start, so that I know where NOT to spend my money or waste my time and energy.
There's a 'haphazardly yet overly airbrushed' look alongside illogical placements of textures and items that you steadily start to pick up with AI content
When you buy makeup are you more concerned with the packaging or the quality and cost of its contents? You realize saving on cheap packaging opens more money for him to invest in good formulas and that savings is passed to the consumer.
If anyone is curious about the 8 8 thing. It's because the letter 'H' is the 8th letter of the alphabet and the people who make this stuff up act like 12 yr old would be edge lords.
Oh wow, I didn't know you heard about the Ensley Reign situation, but I'm so glad you do! It's disheartening to see some indie creators still support the brand after all that nastiness!
I’ve never bought Ensley Reign, & I guess I definitely won’t now! The AI is trashy, but the other stuff is just straight stupid. Everyone is entitled to their (wrong) opinion, but on your business account, really?!🙄 I don’t believe a word of that apology, either. They’re just trying to cover their asses. Forget them, there are SO MANY other amazing indie brands out there who deserve your money way way more.
I’ve never been able to bring myself to support Ensley Reign on price alone. A new brand charging nearly $90 for a palette? That’s absurd, even for an established brand. I’m so glad I haven’t given them a dime. Also, apologizing is a lost art. These people in particular suck at it more than most.
I have had a similar incident not with makeup but jewelry, I purchased a DAVID YURMAN ring and within less than a year the onyx fell out and was lost, First I contacted the store, then the company via email than phone to no avail...I paid a luxury price for a reputable brand and although I was willing to pay to have the stone replaced it ended up being me tossing my money in the rubbish. No answers, no communication and upon calling in I was directed to different associates and then finally hung up on. I saved money for a year to make this purchase and then was treated like the bottom of a shoe with zero customer service. I know you are calling out inequalities in heritage and I fully agree but some brands are just evil innately.
All business is evil. ALL. It’s inherent in capitalism. Did you do work for Yurman and they not pay you? This is a bit of a different situation no? Yours was a customer service issue - not a -not being paid for your work issue

Unfortunately that's what it's like being a black woman we are not allowed to have authentic feelings. The amount of time I spend checking myself because I don't want to be perceived as an angry black woman. Is truly exhausting
They do this with black women all the time lol how badly we're treated is never the issue. Its how we "react", and how we should be the "bigger person".
We all know that part of the criticism for "wasting product" that first creator got was because people love criticizing black women for expressing anger. And then to tell her to donate USED product, wow. Also with the second lady, why would she donate products that arrived empty? Donating isn't just a trash can. Only donate clean, usable items - unopened makeup, clothes in good condition. Giving homeless people your trash to make yourself feel better isn't the win people think it is.
I have companies that i refuse to spend my hard earned money on due to their openly hateful views. I love that the woman destroyed all that make up! If she just made a post commenting on the bullshit treatment the message would NOT have been heard loud and clear. I'm so tired of apology videos, JUST BE BETTER! Love you Robert!
She acted emotionally and therefore unprofessionally and no business will want to work with her again no matter how in the right she was. Handle business matters professionally. Or you won’t survive.
@allytrudie864 Go away troll. Your opinion is not valued or wanted here. You're just wasting your time embarrassing yourself. We all know what you are.
The people upset that she broke and threw out the products need to remember that just because he charges $42 for them, doesn't mean that's what they are actually worth. You are paying for the brand name. In reality, she didn't waste that much money. Look how easily they broke. That speaks to the "quality" right there. So don't worry about the product. Worry about how she was treated by a company that isn't hurting for money at all.
Shes not gonna get work acting like that kids.. Newsflash air your grievance with your brands hr team. Her behavior is akin to going to the top CEO of a company you work at to complain about the toilet paper not being soft enough. SOCIAL MEDIA IS NOT FOR AIRING OUT WORK RELATED GRIEVANCES. @ Yeah they’re selling at Sally Beauty. Lipsticks are still like $30. When I saw them at Sally, I knew that was the death knell. That’s a place where big brands go to die (except the nail polishes).
I needed a longer video to distract me from the fact that everything is burning around me. I'm quite safe inside thankfully. Edit: Thank you all for the well wishes ❤️ I'm impacted by the Eaton fire currently, my workplace and school were shut down and there are constant ashes falling here. The evacuation orders were just short of reaching us. I have an air purifier going as my partner has asthma and the air quality is dangerous. I feel for everyone around me in the same situation and those who had it so much worse.
The way that ER engaged with that content from their business account is WILD. How have you brought your brand that far and not managed to know that this is just a huge vulnerability for your company is mind boggling. Thank you for using your platform to speak on this and standing up for the LGBTQ+ community and the neurodivergent community. The way that I am so angry that they have gotten some of my money last year makes me so angry and sad - I’ll be doing some more research going forward on where my money is going!
Some companies are just unbelievably stupid about the way they do social media. I used to follow a local company that fixes used bikes and sells them. Seemed like a great way to buy an affordable bike, but we were in the middle of changing homes at the time. Then the owner of that company started posting anti masking, covid denier stuff, and posted a photo of himself proudly marching with other conspiracy theorists. I responded saying we were thinking of buying bikes, but not anymore, and my comment got like 40+ likes. He's since deleted those posts, but as someone with chronic illnesses, I don't want to support that kind of people.
I was mortified when I saw that one brand show up in the likes of an EXTREMELY transphobic post last month! I was so shocked that I unfollowed them instantly and couldn’t believe anyone would ever be ok with it, especially on a brand’s official page! Like who thinks no one will call them out on that bs. Their “apology” was so bad because they are only sorry they got caught 😐🙄

If you find anyone "starting" to treat ppl poorly just remember they've always felt that way but now they feel justified in their horrid feelings. Take care of yourselves and each other ❤️
This is the one of the most ignorant statements I’ve ever read. Just because Trump is going to be our President doesn’t mean everyone is going to start treating people badly. But yet I’ve been called racist, homophonic, stupid, mysogynistic and a lot other things for the past 8 years and mainly by all of the liberals who want unity and peace. 🙄 cut the cord and stop letting them brainwash you into thinking President Trump is going to ruin things. Give it a year maybe less and I guarantee you’ll have more money in your pocket, groceries in your kitchen and gas in your car. Oh wait you probably drive an electric vehicle that you have to charge every 200 miles and believe that you’re saving the earth when you should really be looking up how they get the lithium needed for those batteries. Slave labor, child labor and much worse. I just wish some people would educate themselves with information other than what the MSM vomits all over the place. It’s not going to be as bad as it was with a pedo president that has dementia
When he was elected the first time, my husband and I (dating for 3 years at the time) were out to eat on election night. Leaving, knowing how the election was going, two white guys followed us shouting slurs and threats at us (we’re interracial). One of the things they said was “tr**p will make sure you guys are illegal.” So it was crystal clear what made them feel like they could just say that.
There is an old saying, “when a wise man points a finger, the fool follows the hand”. In the case of the first story with Avonna and Patrick Ta, people are missing the point of her video. It’s not about the destruction of the makeup, it’s the message that’s important and people are missing it because they are too focused on her actions and not her words.

When I worked in customer service it felt so good to turn an angry customer (with a legitimate issue) into a happy customer. It can be done, but you need to remove any ego or defensiveness from the response. Focus on the customer and the issue, not on yourself or the company. I used to vent to my co-workers if I was irritated before replying because it’s only natural to have these feelings when dealing with an unpleasant situation.
I've had Colourpop be nasty to me. I made a big order and my stuff never got to me and they didn't want to refund or reship. I finally got my money back eventually after a long tedious conversation and when I ran into another comment that mentioned that they had a smiliar issue our comments were deleted. Never buying from there again.
I had pretty much the same issue with Oden‘s Eye.. my parcel was stolen (because the carrier left it in the hallway of my quite big apartment complex) and they were very unsupportive and barely provided me with the information I needed to get my money back from the carrier.. it was very frustrating.. since this incident I didn’t support them anymore with my money and I get weird vibes surrounding this brand.. but it made me appreciate other brands that have fantastic customer service even more ☺️
Perfect timing for this video as I - and a lot of others - are dealing with never having received our orders from Ciate London. I placed a holiday order in early December and never got my order or a confirmation that it had even shipped. I emailed them and never got a response, then filled out their online contact form and never got a response, then tried to DM them on IG and couldn't bc my message wasn't allowed to go through! I then saw on one of their recent IG posts that so many others are dealing with the same thing from this brand. In fact, Jen Luv even commented that she was going to do a story on them not shipping Black Friday orders and had tried to reach the brand several times for a statement but they never responded! I've never experienced anything like this from any other brand before - ghosting your customers while continuing to advertise your products on social media? Totally unacceptable.
20:30 tbh, the red flags such as the Trump fandom, the MAGA hat, the 88 as a hate symbol speak volumes to me and say quite the opposite of that long message of apology.
As someone who has had a job that didn’t pay me while I was living paycheque to paycheque it literally made me depressed and put me in debt cause I couldn’t pay my rent. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. I had to take them to court and took over a year to get my money so I can definitely sympathise with her.
We all know why he put on the tears. Classic response to any kind of pushback or firmness from Black people and especially Black women. "oh no she's being so aggressive i'm just smol bean baby I didn't mean it defend meeeeee!" Ivanna saw it coming in advance, which is why she made a point of saying "I wasn't the angry Black woman" in her initial video. What he did is usually called "white women's tears," but the behavior isn't limited to one demographic.
I also noticed Patrick was constantly using words that made her seem like an aggressor. He didn’t say she was “hurt” or “offended” or “upset” by this, he said she was MAD. I may be reaching here, but I feel like he would have used any other word for a *white* person who had a problem with his brand.

I'm so angry about the Ensley Reign situation. A good friend of mine bought me one of their palettes for my birthday and I love it. I'm still going to use it because it was a gift, but we'll both be taking our business elsewhere from now on.
why does everyone suddenly have such a moral compass about makeup being thrown away? they'll be offended about that being "wasteful" but have no problem with influencers receiving more makeup in PR than they could ever use in a lifetime. Maybe those brands with millions should be the ones donating. What somebody does with something they spent their OWN money on is their own business.
I don't understand why people are so quick to say 'You could have donated that' about things that are broken, dirty, defective etc. For sure, if something is in good condition and you just don't want it, then donating it is the best option. But those lip kits were defective. There was basically no product in them. What good are they to anyone? It's kinda insulting to people and organisations who depend on donations to think they are so desperate that they'll be grateful to receive cr*ppy stuff that's basically garbage.
This is so important. It’s not okay to donate stuff (especially cosmetics) that is not in a good condition just because it’s still usable and the people receiving could not afford it so hurray have fun and be grateful for the crumbs.

@mirandameyer237 Exactly. The implication, intentional or not, was "She doesn't owe me a response unless she wants the money I owe her".
Yeah, the only correct response is to pay her without asking her to do more work to get paid. He can access his own business records to see when (if any) payments were made in the past and how much is owed for these delinquent payments (that she should be getting interest on as well).
Right??? They probably want to say something like “we’ll pay if you tell your viewers that the issue was solved and please delete that video”

At some point it isn’t even the money it is more about the respect that you deserve. You can only overlook but so much. She is fed up
I also don’t think she should have to donate the money.

This is great to know!
Possible reasons for non-payment could be:
1) they're a chaotic, disorganised brand with a lack of process & systems in place (typical od small biz especially but wouldn't be surprised if some larger ones had issues)
2) they didn't actually get finance approval internally before agreeing to sponsor an influencer - so shady!
3) the collab didn't meet their targets (e.g. sales or engagement targets) & so they're dragging their feet about paying - again, shady af and there could be myriad reasons for this that don't necessarily lie on the influencers side (even.g. let's,say an influencer generated 3m video views, but brand manager forgot to properly set up tracking & analytics- it happens!)
4) they are inexperienced & don't know what they're doing & failed to get the influencer added to the finance system as a supplier. Easily rectified though, just laziness.
In all cases you could get a lawyer to write a stern/threatening email demanding payment within 48 hours or further action will be taken. Usually this is enough, and you never have to actually take further action.

AI art turns me way off a brand. If they aren’t even willing to pay an artist for the art they want, why would I think they aren’t cutting corners like crazy in places we can’t see?
Right? It’s just so soulless…
What about the companies who don't use art and instead just put a name on the packaging? Do they also turn you off too since they aren't paying an artist either?
@@flaggov6949 That's not even the same comparison....If the company doesn't use art in their packaging then there was no artist middleman. @@allytrudie864why was she being unprofessional? Because she broke the makeup palettes? She was making a statement.
Yeah, managing 101- protect your staff from your boss- never throw them under the bus.
Exactly! Very well said.

I thought the rustling was her taking plastic packaging off something - to actually watch the video here and to see she is just SNAPPING the products in half I was like 😮
Avonna breaking all the Patrick Ta products is so symbolic and so iconic, craving justice that I can't even be mad at the waste!
Symbolic is the word!!
The message she pass by doing this is major! 💪🙌
This comment right here is IT!! I’ve been trying to think of a word for people who are showing hate towards Avona breaking the Patrick Ta makeup and calling it wasteful.
SYMBOLIC is that word @beatlebums
I have no problem with her breaking the makeup at all.
Seems like a bad business move by her. I would never work with someone so unprofessional and emotional in my company.

Why do people releasing an apology video always look like they just got out of bed, and have the most "Joe everyman" background?
Makes me think of the Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis apology video.
@kimseiberling5263 Exactly! That was horrendous. You see it sooo many times!
So much gray!
I don’t understand that. It makes it look like the apology video was an afterthought

They do not like that you exist. i was just mad she didnt put the cardboard in the recycle bin. Hahahaha.
For anyone who doesn't know: hate groups use "88" to salute a specific square-mustached dictator. It's very common among whyt supremacists.
@allytrudie864 88 is a white supremacy number. They get tattoos of it. To mark something with a price point of 88 is intentional. Its a dog whistle.
@@allytrudie864you lack basic comprehension skills
Yas! Amen sister! Idk why everyone seemed to be kissing their butt's.
Anyone who conducts a basic web search will know that AI image generators were not made so companies could avoid paying artists.
Why do brands have to make the entire population their market? Why? Nothing wrong with having a specific customer you target to and if it keeps your business viable - then you are just a good business person.

Like people who aren't neurodivergent can be so absolutely close minded it hurts my brain.
This irritates me extra, because as the undiagnosed autistic&adhd child, I was the one getting the most punishment as a kid!!
Its not like autism disappears when you're an adult.
Weird. I wish it could be spanked out of me lol.
It just reels of entitlement and bigotry every time when I'm told to "stop making it my whole personality..."
Especially considering personalities are so heavily impacted by things like neurodevelopment. Like, nobody is entitiled to me acting like something I'm not at my expense, for their confort and convenience
Sorry for the rant, but I feel so strongly about anti autistic ableism as an autistic person.
There's a general lack of knowledge on chronic health issues and disabilities from what I've seen expressed online and even in my life.
100❤percent

Women are not attracted to men that are feminine. It’s science and comes from the primitive brain 🤷🏼♀️ these are scientifically proven facts. I’ve never been able to bring myself to support Ensley Reign on price alone. A new brand charging nearly $90 for a palette? That’s absurd, even for an established brand. I’m so glad I haven’t given them a dime.
Also, apologizing is a lost art. These people in particular suck at it more than most.
whenever a brand uses ai, i straight up drop them bc it just shows u just don't care
It absolutely is the same, like the Glamlite issue with customer service ghosting her.
Yes! Name and shame shitty brands.
Happily watching your content as a Muslim woman, sharing many of your experiences and viewpoints and the motto of live and let live. We don't have to be the same to cherish people as the person they are. Should be so easy...
As a fellow Muslim woman this is so beautifully written and says exactly what I feel🤍
Muslim woman and yessssss💖
You cant give the product away when youre that disgusted. It would be like recommending the brand so it makes better sense to throw it away.
💯
Eh she could donate it to a woman’s shelter or smth
Couldn’t agree more! Thankfully, I’ve never bought anything from Patrick Ta. Don’t think I will now, either.

6:08 it’s so wild to tell someone who’s been mistreated, disrespected and done wrong.. how to feel, react or respond. Sis didn’t commit a crime .. IT IS NONE OF ANYONES PLACE TO TELL HER HOW TO REACT. Like imagine being offended then people telling you the rules and guidelines to YOUR behavior and not the root of issue and cause for all of this!
Also she owns those. it's not like she breaking makeup in Sephora

Shes not gonna get work acting like that kids.. Newsflash air your grievance with your brands hr team. @Foreverfriends_h9g The company ghosted her, she did go them first. Did you even watch the video?
Ensley Reign is giving early Lime Crime vibes and it’s not cute.
So true!
And look at lime crime now , it’s basically a defunct brand ! Wasn’t aware they had issues 🤦🏾♀️
After a period of several years suffering from depression, I have recently rediscovered the urge to start getting back into a regular beauty and makeup routine. Watching this, I know that Patrick Ta will never see a penny of my money ever. Thank you so much for all your helpful videos, I've been binge watching quite heavily ❤💄
I'm on that same journey rn girl, we'll get through this! 🎉
I’m wanting to be on that same path too, but my joint pain has started up with the freezing weather in Ireland, so hibernating a bit longer 😅😂
23:37 Oh my lord, THANK YOU. This is my view with businesses, too!! Just be honest with both of us and you can go your way and I'll go mine and hopefully we'll never meet again.
This is not an excuse for any brand nor any person: I feel like ppl will be showing their true colors starting this year thanks to the Orange Frump coming into office. If you find anyone "starting" to treat ppl poorly just remember they've always felt that way but now they feel justified in their horrid feelings. Take care of yourselves and each other ❤️
Thank you! The orange menace is already dirtying things up.....be vigilant ans principled folks!!!

Patrick Ta is manipulative, entitled, and shady AF (we have so many stories on the pro side). It’s about time people clapped back at his unprofessional behavior. #SorryNotSorry
It's sad, because up until now, I loved so many of his products.
I don’t keep up with him. What’s the story?
Also clueless about him. I did know about his eyeshadows, but that’s as far as I looked in to him
Ooh. Damn. I love it when KJB pops up in the comments!
We need the tea pls - iced or hot! 😅
As soon as you said 88, my mind went right there. The "My Pillow" fascist did the same thing with his products after he started going bankrupt🙄
He's really destroyed himself hasn't he? Delicious.

To give them free publicity? No thank you
In my opinion
If they treat customers as trash, their product belongs in the trash
Not to mention they were clearly used! No shelter or place you can donate makeup will take used makeup in the first place!
What really gets me about Ensley Reign’s bullshit “apology” is they didn’t even say they’re going to “learn and change”… *they asked their followers to MESSAGE THEM DIRECTLY WITH CRITICISM THEY COULD LEARN FROM.* They’re not even willing to put in the work themselves and I’m willing to bet they’ll be ignoring everything they get in their little suggestion box.
Wow breaking those palettes was such a good move! It's just like why marches and demonstrations are loud and public and disrupt the normal day-to-day: to bring attention and make a POINT!
Exactly!
I agree as long as you aren’t including the destruction of property that the community collectively pays for via taxes

Why do you care? You can’t buy anything then- there are zero morals at the top of business. That’s capitalism.

I had pretty much the same issue with Oden‘s Eye.. my parcel was stolen (because the carrier left it in the hallway of my quite big apartment complex) and they were very unsupportive and barely provided me with the information I needed to get my money back from the carrier.. it was very frustrating.. since this incident I didn’t support them anymore with my money and I get weird vibes surrounding this brand.. but it made me appreciate other brands that have fantastic customer service even more ☺️
I LOVE HOW ROBERT CALLS PPL OUT!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Oh my god, I’m 2 seconds in and invested whatttt👀 (also Robert I die for your eye looks, absolutely stunning🖤)
Yep. The weoponised tears response to make the victim of ur b.s. into the bad guy
I also noticed Patrick was constantly using words that made her seem like an aggressor. He didn’t say she was “hurt” or “offended” or “upset” by this, he said she was MAD. I may be reaching here, but I feel like he would have used any other word for a *white* person who had a problem with his brand.
@@ErisIsAnAbominationur not reaching hon. As a black woman, i can confirm that all of our negative emotions are usually just labeled as "anger" no matter how were actually expressing ourselves. We could be crying and someone would say its aggressive lmao
