The Harley dealership wants $1,700 to run wires through my new handlebars and solder the connections. So not including the wire, solder and solder gun, this video saved me about $1,670!! Thanks.
+matty2000shoes Keep the stock bars or you may also need longer clutch and front break line and wires.
Glad my video help you save money...please subscribe

At the age of 51, I just successfully performed my very first EVER solder repair to an electronic device after purchasing El Cheapo 30 watt soldering iron kit, and viewing your video. Thanks! :D
Congrats. :)

Really should have watched this video BEFORE I attempted some soldering! At least a know where I went wrong! Thanks internet soldering dude!
THANK YOU. I was using "common sense" and doing it TOTALLY wrong until I saw this. You've saved me HOURS.
You're welcome
Thanks
You just helped me repair my husband's electric bass! Thank you!
Welcome.... Please subscribe... Glad you found the video informative
Excellent tutorial. I've never seen anyone solder by heating the wire first and letting it do all of the work. But it makes so much sense.
Thanks for posting! After watching this video, I set out to weld up some clothes hanger wires for an art piece that im working on. After about an hour I got it down and can make clean "welds".
Such a useful skill to have. Thank goodness for the internet!
Thanks for making this. I'll be using this as a reference tomorrow!
Thank you for posting this video! My soldering was a bit rusty so I watched your video. I managed to fix a broken wire on my daily Sears multi-meter. It is inexpensive but works fine again now. Also, even more helpful is your discussion of your Weller Iron. I found a new one on Ebay for $53 USD shipped... so seeing that you used it I immediately purchased it as it is a great deal. Thanks again, please keep posting your projects they are great!
Thank you for the tips. I always put the SOLDER on the IRON. Now my refrig works perfectly fine!
You did well.
What I find is coating the copper wire with a flux paste (a "tinning flux") greatly helps in heat transfer and wetting as well as preventing copper oxides from forming. The solder flows almost instantaneously all over the fluxed joint (capillary action). That way you aren't applying as much heat to the join and your coating/insulation will not melt.
This is the perfect How-To video ahead of a project I have coming up, thank you.
Thanks a lot for this! I had been applying the solder to the iron and then trying to put it on the wire. No wonder I gave up trying to solder so quickly! :)
I wish all how-to videos were as well put together as this was. Thanks!
welcome and thanks for your thoughts
Thank you so much, I should of watch the video before doing it myself for the first time.
Thanks so much for this video! I have soldered copper tubing and do pretty well at that, but in terms of wiring I wasn't applying the principal of heating the wire joint (as you would heat the tubing joint to draw in the solder). I made a big mess of the electronics of a nice electric guitar ... Now I think I can redo it much better!
Thank you for the nice and easy tutorial. I'm about to try to solder my first project. Just needed to know what I needed to do before I start and your tutorial was awesome.
thanks....glad you found it useful
Excellent...you are a master at soldering...we both must have learned from the same teacher...thank you...

Goede, duidelijke en heldere uitleg !
I'm a 54 yr old Aussie and not too proud to say that I'm here 'learning how to solder', having never done so before. Thanks for the tips and your time. This Interweb and RUclips are really just "the ants pants", eh? I, honestly would have put the solder to the tip of the Iron, not the wire or metal that I wish to join together. This helped heaps. Cheers !!
Glad to help
Good video- I'm currently soldering the guts of an electric guitar and this is really helpful
Chris Amyotte I'm watching this video for the same reason

nice job, no bs, right to the point, no brain surgery.
I think this video is going to save me money on solder tips. I've wrecked 3 already. After this, I shouldn't have that problem anymore. Thank you.
Very well done sir. Trying to install a car stereo and wanted to solder new harness. Didn't trust but splicers. But had never soldered. Will try this technique.
This video was clear and easy to follow. I have never done solder and wanted to wire my wife's stereo into her fj cruiser so after some practice, I will hit it
Great
Thanks
no no, thank you for creating this video... i feel like a professional already and i haven't even started
Awesome info.. Very informative and saved me a bunch of money. I was able to repair my midtronics instead of replacing it which wouldve been about $900.. Thanks

That's interesting - guess I've never discussed soldering with my cousins in England. Thanks for expanding our knowledge of English!
thanks a lot for the refresher, I was doing it all wrong. The key is to keep the components together, heat them then apply the tin wire
One day we'll be able to download directly to our heads.... Then I can be a pilot. Thanks for the education:)

Amazing, thank you so much, you saved my Mac charger :)
I bought a $10 soldering iron and now I realize I've been doing it wrong for a year or so. It worked on my connections so far, but the connections weren't very strong and were usually very globby and dull. Thank you for showing me how to do it right.

Hello good afternoon. This is a great video. I'm 25 and looking to get into electronic and phone repairs. Soldering is something I need to learn. I have learned a lot from this one video.
I have subscribed to your channel. I'm the type of guy who would physically recommend RUclips channels to my friends.
This will definitely be a channel I will recommend to people.
Have a wonderful day.
Great... Please share it
@@PCBoardRepair seen some of your other videos. Sorry to see you're homeless. I hope things work out soon for you. Take care.
two small things - with the first example, if you do use heat shrink tubing, usually you need to already have it on one of the wires or else you'll be outta luck.
also, if you don't have wire strippers handy, you can melt the sheath of the wire off with just a little application of flame. slightly melt it and it tugs right off.
Never actually thought of using fire as a way to cut that cover. Thanks for the tip!
ok
Thanks alot for uploading such a helpful video. Thanks again....
No more using a Bic lighter or propane torch. It worked well for many applications, but I finally decided to purchase a soldering iron for more detailed work.
Great
Thank you for this well done video.
Great video! Thanks for posting! I'm about to try so of your methods.
Very helpful. Thanks!
