    Nice thank you :) really enjoy the game but the old school game design can get tricky. Reminds me of my younger days but I really get lost sometimes 😂 cheers mate

    its a great remake, playing through it at the moment. its very honest and true to the original which i had back in the 90s on my old pentium. I just wish we still had the original level's music!!!!! WHY did they not remix the original tracks....

      Hello,Randy. Unfortunately,the cyberspace areas are a crucial part of the game to progress. I'm not a fan of those sections too,but strafing and using decoys help a lot.

    Can you find that smg thing on medical level??? All ive got is a wrench, pustol, electric gun (bith upgraded) and a shotgun, im styck in the reactor room, getting poisoned and having 3 rock hard robots insta killing me (ice placed isotope thing in the slot to turn on shields, and turned off something in the reactor room that needed a code, but now um lost, do i just go to the lift and try the next floor?

    • @ThatOtherGamer
      @ThatOtherGamer  Год назад +2

      The only one you didn't get from the medical ward is the mag pulse rifle,which is great against robots. It's at delta quadrant,available in a storage room after solving a cyberspace section. The reactor room should be visited much later,that's a tough floor. From research floor,I'd go to maintenance first.

    Is the game still challenging with combat set to 1?
    Never played the OG but I'm thinking of getting it but going 1,2,1,3 for the difficulty until I get familiar with the game.

    • @rzabcio3
      @rzabcio3 2 месяца назад

      Definitely do that. I was struggling with combat and cyber on 2. On 1 combat is extremely easy, but.. This game excels in story and exploration, not combat. Why?
      The thing is, combat is not skill-based but resource based, so you often find yourself running back and forth between a combat zone and the healing station/power socket. Not very interesting but rather a tedious game loop. Also, it's very situational - there are areas with many covers so you can play tactically, but there are some straight corridors when you can do nothing more than smash the fire button and hope for the best. It's not Doom Eternal, there is no fun IMHO. I lowered Cyber for the same reason.

    • @WaveForceful
      @WaveForceful 2 месяца назад

      @@rzabcio3 there was one cyber stage even on cyber 1 that I found hard. I think it was the executive level, compared to everything before it, it’s night and day more difficult.
      I installed some mods though to give me a it more health and to increase the fire rate and projectile speed of the pulsar. Those green enemies can be a nightmare to hit at times.
      For combat 1 yeah I’ve getting though it pretty comfortably. The only times I have died was due to naivety. Because I’ve not played the game before I’d walk into a room and get destroyed. Now I know what the encounters are that would be the case. I think the hardest part of the game has to be beta grove.
      I’m swimming in ammo too and I’ve just finished the first Diego fight and headed back to maintenance.
      I think I could defo do combat 2.

    • @Sinn0100
      @Sinn0100 Месяц назад

      @rzabcio3
      Yeah.... we're going to have to agree to disagree. I do not play like that at all. Combat is very skill based and involves proper placement of your rounds and using cover to your advantage. Every single enemy in System Shock can be baited, exploited, and dropped while remaining unscathed.
      Some enemies require you to run away pulling them forward so you can hit and run until they go down. Others like the Assassins are better capped off by using doorways to your advantage. There are several enemies that fire projectiles that are terrible at close quarters combat. Sucker them into following you and beat them with your pipe/wrench/laser. You can take down a few bosses with a Berzerk Pack and wrench if you rush him. You can even get enemies into a chokepoint and watch them kill each other trying to get you. This is just some examples of what one can do.
      Case in point- I am playing on Combat Level 2 and just finished the Research Level. In my inventory I have 13 battery packs, 5 gas grenades, 5 Medipatches, 70 standard 9mm, 103 teflon-coated rounds, 31 flechette rounds, and 10 Dragon's Breath in my storage. My cargo storage has my mag sub-gun with 30 rounds, 15 assault rifle rounds, 10 magnum rounds. When you can drop most enemies in 3 shots you never run out of ammo.

    • @Gameprojordan
      @Gameprojordan Месяц назад

      Yes it just takes less hits to kill the enemy. If you're careless and run in guns blazing you'll always get Merc'd

    • @Sinn0100
      @Sinn0100 Месяц назад

      @Gameprojordan
      You know...a few days ago I would have agreed with you 100%. However, I have gotten so used to the way System Shock plays that I do go guns blazing with most enemies. The key is distance for me. Like, I won't go blazing if one of the assassin guys are further than say a full room. You can actually stun lock them with head shots. You can stun lock them, the guys with shock pistols, and the mutants with head shots from the 9mm.
      Addendum- Right now I have over 300 9mm rounds in my inventory (combined regular/teflon).

    Increase the puzzles difficulty...no, that's not something I would ever consider. The fighting and moment-to-moment exploration is so intense in this game that I can't understand how anyone would get bored with it. I can't say the same for puzzles as there is no consequences for failing them. It's the same trial-and-error wash-rinse-repeat mechanic over and over again. So far 99.99% of the puzzles I have done (I'm on the 3rd floor) have all came together in seconds within any real thought behind them.

    • @Gameprojordan
      @Gameprojordan Месяц назад

      That's why it's not a big deal to keep the puzzles at level 3. If you enjoy puzzles then why not? It's a fun challenge. Other difficulty levels actually affect gameplay much more directly

    One thing I dislike about this remake is that they added a bunch of 'flavour' text notes and v-logs that weren't present in the original and that made finding clues on how to proceed somewhat more annoying.
