I was in preschool when I became obsessed with this film. I was lucky, though, because I didn't see the US cut, I saw this HBO cut that was way different. Saw it hundreds of times taped off the TV on VHS. Was similar in many ways to the TV cut some people recall with the voice overed opening crawl, but the two distinct differences was that (1) it included the faerie dance, and Jack is jumping, spinning, and tumbling around like a maniac, and (2) in the final fight, Jack deflects a sword strike using the alicorn before thrusting it into Darkness's torso. Not too proud to say, but I've seen this film thousands of times, probably the most out of anyone. HBO, TV, European, US, and Director's cuts. Only watch DC annually now. Resurface every now and then hoping somebody else might still have the HBO cut. My sibling taped over my copy in the 90's. I learned about the US cut when we tried to replace it. I was unamused how different it was. If anyone out there has the copy I'm referring to, I would love to arrange for obtaining a copy. LoZ is the only game franchise I play. Jack IS Link. Lily IS Zelda. Always will be. I would NEVER watch a LoZ movie. This is it. Some people claim Miyamoto wasn't influenced by it based on the year release, but I don't buy it. In the 80s, Nintendo shamelessly ripped off every intellectual property from every source they could, something that could never happen today. They already had a history of going to Ridley Scott's Alien for Metroid. It's less likely to accept developers independently came up the premise of LoZ over referencing Legend, even if it was early development production images for the foundational structure and tone of LoZ - boy in green tunic, princess in white, and a demonic presence, bound together.
The early make out was just the end kiss played in reverse from the end of the movie, it was added into the US theatrical version. They didnt kiss til the end in the Director's cut.

The unofficial Legend fo Zelda movie, haha... been saying that years, glad to see someone else agrees. Great video.
I say the movie inspired the franchise.
Like how KRULL gave us Final Fantasy!
@@misterprickly Zelda gets her name from Zel'zah. Zel is a hebrew word for shadow/shade.
Gump was going to kill Jack when they first met in a deleted scene. He was a brutal character.
Holy cow, didn't know that about David Bennett's voice actor. Thought it was his voice 😮😮 really enjoyed his character
The European / Director’s Cut music is Jerry Goldsmith’s, I have that soundtrack.
Could you please create “ the Dark Crystal “
14:39 That is so funny LMFAO!!!!
I knew the movie was gonna be a trip when the opening title crawl was in red comic-sans.
Personally I think Zelda *is* a video game adaptation of LEGEND.
Bible
Me too, Legend came out a year earlier, and the game director admitted he got ideas from Legend.
No remake, Disney I believe owns the rights and it would get wrecked like the Willow series.
maybe they forgot but the original NES ZELDA/ZELDA2 also had an opening scroll setting the tone for the game.
I just cant...
