Major League Baseball consists of 30 teams split between the American and National Leagues. Doggy was the greatest clutch hitter in the game. Got more rib eyes that any player in the seventies. The only Reds player who never got booed. The guy was great.
Doggie was the man. When he left Cincinnati this was the beginning of the end of what could have been a real dynasty. Big Red Machine forever...

Imagine you live in Puerto Rico, 15 years old, and that there is a little league baseball park across the street, home plate back stop literally 27 steps from your front door. Then you are from Cuban descent and your dad knows a softball team in Miami full of funny guys. Then your dad coordinates a Friendship Series with them so you fly back and forth to Miami to play in their park and they fly back to play in front of your house. Then at one of those games across the street from your house, you show up for that game where a tall muscular Cuban with a deep voice is sitting in the bleachers laughing, making jokes, ribbing the players from both sides, drinking beer,and watching the game where his friends from Miami are playing the local team….. yes, for 6 hours of play and then 4 more hours of beer and pollo asao and arroz con frijoles negros, I spent the most fantastic 10 hours of my life with as my dad called him Atanasio “El Tany” Pérez.🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊😊😊 Papi, te extraño con cojones….
