I see many comments about this performance lacking soul but one must admit that he is an incredible violinist. It almost seems that it all comes too easy for him ,maybe that's where the problem lies .

This interpretation is why I love so much those of Hilary Hahn, Janine Jensen, Podger on baroque violin, to name a few... and the classics from the 20th. They caress every note, execute flawlessly, yet deliver all the soul of the piece. With all the histrionic display here, not an inch close.

While I may not have performed this with the same vibrato or stylistic technique, I have to disagree with anyone who is saying this performance is "horrible". David Garrett is an incredible violinist. Bravo!

He might be one of the most highly skilled violinists alife, but I personally cannot listen to this with joy... This doesn't mean, that it's bad, it just means that his interpretation, in my opinion, doesn't fit Bach

No soy una experta pero amo la música clásica y escucho muchísimo y las interpretaciones de este violinista me emocionan y me llegan al alma , además de admirar su técnica excepcional. Y creo que gracias a eso está llegando a muchísima gente que no conocía a Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Paganini..... y eso me parece un gran logro.

DAVID, hace con su mágica interpretación que nos acerquemos mucho más a la música clásica. Absolutamente maravillosa e inspiradora.
La belleza de la canción es inconmensurable... y la comunión entre la pieza musical y el intérprete me deja sin palabras.
All of Garrett's teachers, but especially Haendal and Perlman, taught him to play a piece as he interpreted it, not as anyone else played it. Haendel would play a something for him, then have him play it in his own way, never to copy her. Also, an artist shouldn't be playing a piece in the same way for the rest of his career; it will change, and it is ok to push the boundaries. That is how music evolves. I got his Legacy DVD, which includes a documentary, Playing For My Life. There are some good interviews with his teachers!

The guy filled this piece with his own feelings to the point where it became more than a performance - a living, breathing experience. I kinda like this Shakespearian attitude :D giving new life instead of merely 'resurrecting' something over and over again is, in my opinion, true creativity.
