  • Learn how to implement the new Revit importer into your SketchUp workflow!
    Personally, I never understand the comparison between Revit & SketchUp, as I use them for different things. SketchUp for my concepts and renders, Revit for my technical work and production drawings.
    The new SketchUp Studio 2023 introduces a dedicated Revit importer that's now MUCH faster and slicker than the old way of exporting & importing DWG files.
    This video walks you through how I use the new importer in my day-to-day work and showcases a recent set of visuals I've created utilising this workflow.

    Hope you enjoy the video, and let me know your thoughts on this workflow in the comments below. Be nice :)

    Nice work! Interested to hear more on this subject. Particularly how you update changes between revit & SU models.

    Just curious but 1 staircase is sufficient for an apartment over where you’re from?
    Coming from the point of view in terms of building codes and fire codes

      Good eye! In the UK now it's mandatory to have two stairs for such a project, and we ended up with such before finalising the designs, after this video was created. But, what I would say is that at the point of recording we had a fire engineered solution that would have worked with tons of natural ventilation, but we ended up with two stairs for ease.

    In case you change the plan in Revit, is there any way to reload the model? Otherwise you will have to redo the material again

      Hi there, unfortunately no, there's no way to re-load quickly. You need to export the amended area and drop that into the sketchup model, deleting the affected area from the sketchup model. But, to prevent too much messing we wait until the design has settled within Revit before bringing it through to sketchup for renders. If it's done too early you're asking for trouble!

    What is the spec of CPU and GPU using? Feeling so smooth drawing in Sketchup.

      Good spot. CPU is i9 12900K & GPU is 3090ti - with all of our content creation we need good hardware!! 🖥️

    Can you reload the rvt model file ?

      Not directly, this is a great comment and a feature that would be mind blowing 🤯 … before importing from Revit I make sure the design is frozen (as possible). Any tweaks I can just make in SketchUp then. So it’s a bit manual, but not too painful if you manage it correctly.

    What did you use to make the building facades ? Sketchup ?

    • @ArchAdemia
      @ArchAdemia  Месяц назад +1

      Do you mean the context? Yes, sketchup I find is easier when making massing models of the context etc. The building facade itself was built in revit if you mean the proposal building.
