What a beautiful essay on Aragorn's little known travels for this year's Tolkien Reading Day! A wonderful reminder of the love Tolkien poured into this important & compelling character. Thank you for this captivating video 👏
Don't know why, but your voice is just perfect for narrating. Think that's been the main draw for me to listen through several videos. It makes me imagine an actual historian in a fantasy world talking about history. Don't really know much about Middle Earth outside of the films. So it's nice to find a theory channel that's interesting to listen to. The combination of your voice and the way you narrate, makes the lore feel alive.
Thank you very much for your kind words! This is exactly what I aim to bring to you and the other listeners! ❤ I'm happy I can share this feeling with others, and I'm excited to bring you the next chapter soon
One aspect of Aragon that I feel is really misunderstood is this depiction in Jackson's films that Aragon is somehow afraid or reluctant to reclaim the throne of Gondor and restore the line of the Kings. In some scenes he's written to be meek and unsure about a lot. In the books he's pretty open about who he is and his purpose in the war of the ring and Sauron's downfall. He's confident and proud without arrogance. There's several instances through the entire LOTR books where these traits are seen from other characters POV. But one thing I do disagree with is your comment towards the end about Aragon wanting to leave his past behind, because his house is named the House of Strider. Great video! These topics are more my style- a further probe into characters and their stories. There's so much in Tolkien's writings that, at least me personally, I couldn't just stop at the end of the books and appendices. It's fun to watch videos that delve into these topics or aspects of characters or situations.
The Music in the Background amplifies your elegant way of Storytelling to a much higher level. Can you provide me with a link of it? It is truly mesmerising
You really glossed over a lot. Barely a mention of his travels to the far south where the stars are different. No speculation on the horrors he experienced in the shadows of Mordor. How about the time he entered Moria? No mention of his last visit to see his mother. And what about when the Nazgul attacked the Rangers at Sarn Ford. Was Aragorn with them? Because it sounds like he had had encountered the Nazgul before he met the hobbits. So was it at this battle or was it elsewhere? I like your videos. I like your narration. I like the drawings you use and how you animate them. But, most especially, I like your thoroughness and that when you're speculating you make it clear you're speculating. But this was not one of your more thorough videos.
@@MysteriesOfWesternesse A couple I'm quite confident about: 3:16 look at the horses and leather straps, it's not style it's a computer not understanding what it's depicting. 3:32 the eyes is not a natural mistake it's typical for programs. 6:27 the horse head and the face blur. Maybe 8:27, not sure (look at the guy in black, his coat and eyes). 14:04 it doesn't quite know what to do with the texture. I'm suspicious about some others but I don't want to insult any artists, chances are I already did.
@@MysteriesOfWesternesse I just noticed you tagged the artists so I checked : RYLYN84's DArt profil: "I consider myself an amateur AI artist" (3:16). Anthony Foti (14:04) and Anke Eissmann (8:27) are not I was wrong there. Couldn't find Ladyoftheflower (3:32). Woutart (8:27) makes clear on his DArt page he doesn't use it, but I can't find the image there and it doesn't really look like his style tbh.
That's good to know, thanks. Some of the images have also been upscaled if I couldn't find a high resolution piece. Maybe this sometimes results in an AI-generated look. Usually I try to only use AI for mood pieces (like 'dark cave' or 'light forest') but every now and then a generated artwork gets through. :)
@@MysteriesOfWesternesse The upscaling is probarbly why I misjudged them, or maybe I'm just becoming paranoid with so much of the stuff around. Anyways, I checked some of the other artist tags and they all seem to do traditional or digital art without AI assistance. Thank you for not taking my comment as an insult, there are just some things about those generated images that always bother me when I look at them.
While I enjoy your readings and I love the world that Tolkien has created, may he rest well in heaven, I despise AI generated art... It's funny coming from IT specialist but even the prettiest AI art irks and annoys me as it, in my opinion, lacks the soul and passion behind it. It is also easy to notice, so while this request might be arrogant and preposterous... Would it be possible to limit the usage of AI generated arts in your videos? Other than them, you are doing amazing job! Greetings from Poland!
Hey, we had another comment like this already (check it out for more info on the topic :D). Usually I try only to use AI art for mood pieces, but every now and then an AI generated artwork gets past me and makes it into a video.

Yo Thorgull it's me gopher :b. Nice job telling the backstory of Aragorn.
Keep it up 😁
Almost mystic, and somewhat provocative. Wonderful!
As a Turkish, your donation link touched me. Thank you.
Happy Tolkien Reading Day my friend! So glad that someone decided to shed some light upon Aragorn as he is such a great character!
Great topic and video! Very similar to my own topic of this year's Tolkien Reading Day 😁

House of Telcontar in the old tongue.
Happy Tolkien Reading Day, MoW! Such an evocative topic - I've always been fascinated by Aragorn's early life.

Hey man, love your videos, please make a video on Utumno and angband
Excellent video. Thank you.
Now there are 2 more great Tolkien channels, tales of the rings and this channel
Thank you! We will indeed put Utumno and Angband on the list for a future episode. No guarantees on when those will come, but they WILL come 😉
@@MysteriesOfWesternesse Thank you sooo much, your videos are great,
He was a dancer at Chippendale’s (but let’s not focus on that)
Great content

I'm sorry but since I know what computer generated images look like, I can't unsee how they just break in some places and come out all wrong.
Which ones are computer-generated in your opinion?
