Interesting he mentions being creative to do this. Personally, I am particularly creative (rather than logical) and word association is like my saviour with learning words from another language. I've done this with several words and am starting to think I need to do it with just about every word whilst I learn, because otherwise I don't retain the info. 🙈🙈 It needs to be through use of a unique quirk or word connection in my brain that I retain the info.
When I investigated this method, I found it hard to extract the information that was held via images to a word to produce when spoken. You obviously do not have this issue though.
I just stopped the video after he introduced the word 'priglaseat' and used word association to remember it. Easy. 30 minutes later I can easily remember the word and its meaning (to invite). Ta-da!! I used word association for 'prig' 'la' and 'seat.'
That's very strange because this kind of things really don't work with me. I speak french(native), quite good english, spanish not that bad(even though I have a pronunciation defect which makes me unable to say the -r), and I learn german since october( 30 min per day approximately). I've tried already this method 2 or 3 times but it doesn't works. I memorize words really better when I use them in sentences when I speak to myself in the language I study. Anyway, this video may be useful for a lot of people, so thank you for this haha
Think of the word more like a plant and this is a way to have good germination with the seed. All words are learned by using them in sentences using many examples, the goal of this method is to just help you keep the word from being totally forgotten even if you hardly use it. It goes into your passive vocab and then afterward the more you use it, it goes into your active vocab. I use this very rarely but it helps me to never forget the word. I think its because the brain is hardwired to like stories. I learned the Spanish word for carrier which is portador by thinking of a aircraft carrier being at a military port. I learned the Spanish word barrer which means to sweep something like the floor by associating it with something from guitar playing. Barrer has bar in it and in guitar playing, we have bar chord fingerings for chords and sweep picking and when you sweep pick a chord, you can play an arpeggio really fast. For the word espeso which means stiff, thick or dense, I used esp in espeso to think of ESP guitar brand and then associate those guitars with having thick and stiff necks. For the word prestamo which means loan and borrowing, I think of "pressing the money" as in some machine popping out money for everyone.
Another polyglot swears by this method. He does like 100 a day but man it takes me like an hour just to do 10 😂. I mean, I play drums and guitar, and studied graphic design so I’m not an uncreative person, hardest problem for me is getting a vivid enough image that sticks and doesn’t change. Sometimes I struggle to visualise something well enough. But it definitely works
Vou por isso em prática

Yeah, this method works! The Memrise app uses this to get users to remember words in their preferred language. Definitely recommend.
Does Memrise really do this? I use it and I can't recall memory association with words at all. But it's a very good app nonetheless.
Awesome thanks
Good idea
I set the playback speed 2x times faster so that I can learn words 4x times faster
How do I find you on Lingq

oakenguitar3 Mm I understand what you say, that's great if it works that well haha

fluentasap, I left you a message on your last video, please can you have a look at it?
