Stay Blessed, Healthy & B Wealthy

Hello madam. If I were 60 years old retired person having 50 lacs savings in my account , I would deploy that in following ratio :
1 Rs 1000000 in crisil AAA rated corporate fd like Shri Ram finance which is currently offering 8.90 percent pre tax yield. But I would not lock this amount for more than one year to decide better option next year as per prevailing lending rates.
      2. Rs 1500000 - In scss . purely for the sovereign guarantee , it carries.
3 Rs 2500000 - in two balance advantage hybrid funds and would do swp from that .
TBH, this corpus of Rs 5000000 would not survive for too long if equity exposure is not taken . So, if one likes it or not, equity exposure will have to be taken depending upon risk profile of an individual.

SWP idea खराब नही है लेकिन day by day principle amount और units भी कम होते जाते है.

Madam instead of PMVVY ask him to invest in RBI flexi bond almost equal to PMVVY but with less Lock in period for senior citizen as well as chances for FD rates to be improved over years as RBI is likely to take measures to contain inflation there by increasing CRR and Repo rates.

    1. SCSS - 1500000 - 9250
2.PMVVY- 1500000- 9250 3. Floating rate saving bonds - 2000000 - 11916. 4. SWP ( very good but very risky in volatile market &present condition I will avoid), so I would invest Rs 50 laks in SCSS, PMVVY & Floating rate saving bonds giving returns 30416 monthly & 50 lakh capital saved.

Those who have pension, they don't have the problem of generating the corpus and it's investment. people in private sector who don't have pension, only suffer. This is the major gap. After hard working for many years in private sector, people do not have security of their retirement and always remain in worry.

SCSS and PMVVY are best, I hope the person is aware of all T&C. 3000000 invested in both.
Quarterly these 2 schemes give 55500, so 65000 is less for quarterly requirement of 120000.
    Make 6 fd of 65000 with Tenure in months 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18. (390000 in total)
You will left with 1610000, invest these in Aggresive Hybrid fund (65/35 - equity/debt), remain invested for 18 months and thereafter fund will fulfill the requirement of 65000 quarterly.
1st 18 month taken care by SCSS + PMVVY + FD, thereafter SCSS + PMVVY + MF withdrawal

You can put the entire amount in Arbitrage fund and then do the SIP to BA fund and then do SWP. This will give security against the market up and down and also give tax efficiency and increase then corpus.

One very important aspect of the question is missing that is "for how long will he want monthly income of Rs 40,000/-" on investment of Rs50 Lakh. For any financial calculation time duration is the most important. It is because:(1) SrCSS is having a tenure of 5 years(expandable to 3 more years).(2)PMVVY for 10 years.(3)POMIS scheme for 5 years only.(4)Only the SWP from a MF is having no fixed tenure. The tenure solely depends on the rate of withdrawal (ideally @3.5%of the corpus to last it long).

I do not find SWP very risky but you have to restrict your withdrawal within 0.8 % of investment . Usually MF is providing you around 12%, may be more but we should restrict our thinking to 12% only.

  • @manojvarghese6783
    @manojvarghese6783 5 месяцев назад

If you deploy 50L, you don't get 12 to 14% from the very first month. It takes some time. Existing investors who had been in the market for 5 to 7 years can move on to SWP without much risk. This would yield the benefits of the market and can withstand any market fall. For the discussed case, the conservative approach is fine.

Swati Ji, you can invest this amount in MFs, FDs, etc but I would recommend that it should be pledged and the margin you get from pledged instruments you should keep selling weekly extreme OTM options. This way you will earn 10 K weekly ( Extremely Conservative) or 40 K Monthly and you investment still remains Yours !!

But remember this may b a challenge after few years because inflation rate is just not taken care of in this pirtfolio

That means you are drawing more than 20% per annum when your expected growth in MF is only 12-15 % maximum. Entire capital will vanish at no time .

Madam the investor's expectation is wrong. On a corpus of Rs.50 lacs he is expecting Rs.4,80,000 it works out to 9.60% p.a. He is also not taking in to account the inflation. The inflation is minimum 6% p.a. At best what you have suggested can be improved upon by investing in RBI flexible interest bonds instead of MIS as it is expected that interest rates will increase and he can earn more interest as compared to MIS. As regards SWP from balanced advantage fund it will be difficult to maintain the corpus with High withdrawal. In addition the risk of market correction and consolidation the corpus may exhaust at a faster pace.

It will be difficult to cope with the rising inflation and consequent fall in real value of money if the investor keeps consuming the interest from his entire capital. He should reinvest atleast 30% of his principal amount in some growth schemes like Canara Robeco Bluechip Equity Fund, this will help him to offset inflationary effect in future capital value. SCSS+PVVY+ yearly withdrawal option of a conservative hybrid fund or Balanced advantage fund are some good options to consider. But he should reinvest atleast 10-15 lakhs in a growth scheme to offset future inflation effects or to meet emergency expenses.

The strategy is very well explained. However, I have to say that you have assumed a SWP (Systematic Withdrawal Plan) of Rs. 17000 per month from a balanced advantage fund where, you have planned an investment of Rs. 11 lacs. The annual withdrawal is Rs. 2.04 lacs which means the withdrawal rate is 18.54% per annum. This is a very high withdrawal rate. The balanced advantage funds are designed to give an average return of 9 - 12% annum. Which means that the corpus invested in the Mutual Fund has a very high risk of reducing as the withdrawal continues A withdrawal rate of around 7% is ideal in such a case, which will give about Rs. 6500/- per month and the rest of the debt investment will give Rs. 23,450/- as stated by you. Thus a total of 29950/- or approx Rs. 30,000/- per month can be done safely.
