EA only pretends Madden is a realistic simulation in order to keep that NFL exclusive license. Being more arcade-ish and even kind of broken makes them more money than trying to make the game a realistic simulation. (Which is why some argue that modern Madden gameplay-wise are *worse* than 10-20 year old football games, including old Madden titles.)
I miss the Madden 2010-14 generation. A lot more variety with plays that aren’t just “filler” for the playbook. I also miss being able to hurry up all the way down the field without having time melt off the clock to auto run down (which really can’t be turned off).
Maden 08 was the last decent madden game. And it still wasn't that great. 2K Sports was doing amazing things that blew EA out of the water back in 2005. And rather than try and compete with them and build a good game, they bought out the rights so no one could compete with them, and then just keep polishing the same turd every year.

I love how you can throw bullet passes to receivers well before they should be expecting it in their route, yet they can instantly adjust and go up for the catch. It's like they have eyes in the back of their heads. Meanwhile, DBs who are looking straight into the backfield are so slow to react to passes that sometimes they aren't even out of their break by the time the receiver has caught the ball.
And that’s why madden is toxic. 6 plays that’s not real football. Yes you can come back to the plays that work but in real life if you keep running the same play eventually they adjust

Not to mention running the same plays over and over again like this is Tecmo Bowl. That’s why Agro catching works with tall Wideouts it’s the only true scheme people can expose because a 99ovr doesn’t matter when your dude 7inches taller than the safety or corner and your guy is a 99ovr too. I saw some really good dimes but most of it was just using the game against itself to win.

This is why I hate the competitive Madden scene. It's all about META and stacking your team with the exact players/abilities that you desire. I'm sure every competitive sport would love to be able to abuse the best players and tactics for wins. I just wish competitive Madden was about knowledge and skills. Go watch a speed run of any game, you’ll notice that they aren’t playing it anything like the way it’s meant to be played.
